Forgive me if this has been asked countless times, but is there confirmation on this thread of the pool closing in August? Any news/update on when it will reopen? I have a friend staying there in mid October and I want to have my facts straight before telling her about the pool closure. Thanks for any info!

Not sure what to make of this...Tikiman's Offical Poly facebook page is making claims about WL and the pool. Some of the posters have listed specific dates and details about the closure.

Tikiman: "For those looking to switch resorts be aware that the Wilderness Lodge pool will be closing for construction late August 2014 with no completion dates."

I know that is vague and similar to what we have heard...however there are people posting comments on the thread such as this:

"Just spoke to MS and it is going to be closed until end of nov, the 27 or 28! They said you can use the pool at fort wilderness or the contemporary instead, transportation will be provided! We booked VWL because of the pool, wish they had notified earlier, would not have picked VWL! It's not like they did not know they were gonna do this!"

Obviously there is no way to verify this information.

So does a Disney Photographer hang out at the Lodge for photos? That would be nice.

We were at WL the Saturday after Thanksgiving and there were Photopass photographers stationed at the Christmas tree all day long. Sometimes there were two photographers since the lodge is a very popular place for Christmas photos. We also saw the photopass photographers at the AK and GF trees.

We have seen them poolside before. It was only one day in May 2010, but he hung around for awhile.

We also saw them at the GF tree, but that was in 2007.

Hi there! We're back from our Disney trip! Despite the ongoing rehabs at the WL and MK, it was still a fabulous vacation!!!! The rooms, CL lounge, Cast Members and the beautiful view of Bay Lake far outweighed the construction!!! And morning is my very favorite time at the resort. It's absolutely amazing at sunrise...very peaceful and serene. Hopefully I can get that started by the end of the week.

Are you referring to the one FB post by a DVC member to Tikiman's FB page that you posted above? He doesn't directly mention the WL pool closure. He did post that Member Services (MS) told him "it" is going to be closed until the end of November and "they" said "they" could use the pools at CR and FW. I have no collaborating information in regards to DVC Member Services and the WL pool closure and I'm not a DVC member. The only first-hand information I have is in POST 2. I'll see if I can get more information in a week when I'm there. In the meantime, maybe someone who contacted Guest Communications will get a reply. Guests with reservations whose stays are impacted will most likely be contacted 60 days prior to any closure.

I would just check. I saw a communication about the pool being closed so I checked the permits. The permit I found was for the Hidden Springs pool but a pool name was not mentioned in the communication.

Hopefully someone can find out.
