(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD ~11/13 - 6/14~

Been following this pool situation closely. I'm relieved that it's late August/after Labor day closure (we'll be there Aug 9-14), but feel bad for the ones that are being affected. Very glad that we have mods (especially WDWKOOK) in this thread that are giving us all these updates. Thank you, thank you, thank you… :thumbsup2

I apologize if I have missed it but where did you read/see it was after Labor day? We will be there 8/28-8/31. I can't find this anywhere else:confused3

We rented points from David's for a 2 bedroom villa from 9/30 - 10/9. It is our first, BIG, trip with 2 little boys who LOVE pools, and our moms.

I'm totally out of luck, aren't I?

I am beyond bummed about a pool closure. Beyond. Someone please make me feel better about dropping close to 5 grand on a room at a resort with no feature pool :(

If this was a trip with kids I would totally be peeved about the pool situation. I would be changing resorts to another deluxe with a similar pool and I would not be paying 1 extra cent to do so. If I paid that kind of money for a deluxe with a feature pool and then 2 months out they want to take the pool away? Their options as i see it are to refund me a good portion of what I paid for lack of pool, or move to a similar resort with similar pool at no extra cost. In my case, its just me and DH so not a huge deal but I still feel outraged for those of you for whom it is a big deal, lol

There is not a lot of availability...at least for November - I checked our bounceback and FD and there was nothing except AKL.

I have updated the Lodgers' Log with everyone's dates and I also added a section on the Silver Creek and Silver Creek Pool rehabs. The update and log is located in POST 2 HERE. When I get new information, I'll post both to the thread and I'll update POST 2.

We leave in a week so I have much to do, so I'll probably be posting less. I'd like to leave you for today with a suggestion…

In my experience, Disney's Guest Communications really appreciates guest feedback, both good and bad and I've offered both over the years. I have always received either an email or a phone response to my emails. I don't know what their response might be in this case, but it wouldn't hurt to reach out to them.

For those of you concerned about the impact a pool closure might have on your booked trip or the lack of accurate and timely official information, emailing Guest Communications and letting them know about your concerns might be very productive. While this thread is a great way to communicate your feelings and thoughts, Guest Communications is a direct link to Disney. You may not like their response, but I feel this would be a more proactive approach and may yield more answers than we can provide on this thread.

We got this guy in the gift shop

He I'd a puppet.

Also, we got a wolf, an owl, and a smaller bear. These weren't puppets.

Oh thank you for posting this!! I was just asking my DH if we had ever taken a photo.

This is the bear I mentioned.

I love this guy! He is so soft and cuddly.

Kook, Great suggestion to email Guest Communications. I've just done that. I suggested that official word from WDW to their guests booked at WL is needed, so guests may plan accordingly.
Have a great trip. All you CL people are making me extremely envious with your food descriptions. I'm renting points to stay at VWL in a studio, and it's a wonderful way to experience the Lodge is a cost effective way. I'm really happy to be doing it, but I gotta say...the CL food talk is killing me. Some day I'll have to book a stay that way. :goodvibes

A few things I read that I didn't know about. One of those things is this "pail surprise" you can get delivered to your room from room service? We've ordered room service at WL a few times, but I don't remember ever seeing that item listed. I would love to know what it is, what comes in it?

Forgive me if someone answered this in the past five pages, I haven't read them all yet, but wanted to answer you. WE got two of these delivered to our room on our last trip, complimentary from WCC when we left a toy at our table and they wanted to return it to our room. Each of our kids got a pail with shovel and inside the pails were a variety of things, I know one Mickey rice kripsy treat, a bag of chips, a couple different candies, I think some other small snacks like Mickey shaped crackers,e tc. I would say for $15 it would be well worth it. The kids thought it was great fun getting a surprise in the room. Heck, I teared up because the CMs at WCC had them sent up, just to return our light up Minnie spinner toy we'd left on the table (and not realized we'd left).

Here is what we got in our room, sorry the photos aren't great. There was a LOT stuffed in the pails. I can't say what is in the pails you can order but my guess is that it is very similar, if not identical.

This was our first CL stay and I am hooked.

That is so awesome! I always think it is so fun to hear about these extra magical moments! :)

In all the years I have been to WDW I was never pixie dusted before and I swear on that trip, the WL had a special pixie dust wand just for our family. The CMs everywhere were incredible, they remembered my family, everything was incredible and that act from WCC made our trip so much better. It was our first stay at WL and I don't know if I'll ever stay anywhere else. I wrote Disney a LONG letter about all the CMs that made the trip amazing and even got a phone call back asking if I had more to add and that they appreciate all the good things people say about CMs and that all the stuff I wrote would go in each person's file. I can't wait to go back in 3 weeks!

Thanks Ill definitely try that if it might help! I just don't see why they would do this in the middle of summer! Unless something majorly is wrong with it, it doesn't make sense to do it in Summer. Especially when you have another deluxe resort under so much construction!

Thanks for posting this! You don't ever need forgiveness in helping us out! It's great to be able to see photos of what we are asking about.

It did say $15.00 for those under the amenities section of the room service booklet. That is a great deal then!
