Hi hi and welcome : ) We are taking a similar trip Nov. 9 - 19 at WL and then 3 days at GF CL. My thoughts are exactly as yours ... No kiddos not a deal breaker with pool being so up in the air.
This is our first stay at WL as well, and our first without kiddos or grandkiddies ((( fun ))) So curious what dining plans did you make for the two of you? Did you make any character dining plans? Any special plans ect?

Well in addition to working towards my goal of staying at every Disney resort, I am working towards eating at every Disney restaurant, so no repeat restaurants for us, lol. ::yes::

So I have booked:

MK - Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner
EP - Teppan Edo for dinner
HS - 50s Prime Time for dinner
WL - Whispering Canyon for dinner
POLY - Kona Cafe for breakfast

No other special plans. last year we did the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK and loved it and were hoping to do another tour this year. We were interested in the Backstage Magic one (all parks) but after reading up on it, decided to skip it. It's a lot of $$ and I was disappointed to find they don't even include any rides. We loved getting to sneak on HM last year and for a full day tour, I expected we'd get to ride at least 1 or 2 attractions. So, no tour for us this time as there really isn't anything else that interested us that much. What about you?

As far as dining we have artist point the first night booked but I'm still iffy on it since the menu just doesn't call out to me (( so will see )) but we do have Narcoossee's booked which I'm looking forward too. Will be doing the last day of F&W on Nov.. 10th which is a first for us, then the Mickey Christmas party and tommorowland and illumination dessert parties. Otherwise no other tours planned.
I like your idea of the keys to the kingdom tour and glad to read you loved it : ) so I'll have to look into that for sure. Yeah no rides during he backstage tour seems odd since it's so costly that would be a no go for us as well. It just happen chanced that free dining was during our stay but honestly I am worried that all will do is eat and eat yikes! Last night we went out to dinner and I had a panini, a few fries and thought I'd try eating dessert too ... I felt miserable. I just don't know how people eat a meal and then dessert too. So my goal is to not let the meals take over the trip and if we have credits left then we do : )

We are headed home. We loved the WL, dry stream and all.

Glad you had a wonderful trip!!!

Heading there next week.... Not so worried about the dry stream, but more the impact that the scaffolding and tarps, etc. may have. I know it seems petty, but the ambiance is key to us on this trip as we are hoping to get in a lot of much needed R&R at the pool. It's just our typical luck to have this sneak-attack-rehab-not-really-rehab going on.....

Did you feel that the work took away from your stay at WL at all? And do you happen to have any updated pics of the courtyard area? We are booked at AP discount (luckily switched to Woods View!), so it looks like we have no option to switch due to another resort to lack availability....

Not really sure I'd even want to switch, but hope to expect it to be worse and pleasantly surprised when we get there!!!

:thumbsup2

I don't understand how the information is so inconsistent. How is not a priority for Disney to make sure that all the CMs are informed and informed with the same, consistent info? I understand that sometimes people get wind of things before hand, but I would think Disney would always try to be ahead of that kind of thing.
:confused3

Wow, this is all so frustrating. But so typical of Disney unfortunately.

I don't think I ever introduced myself on this thread. Dh and I are booked for 8/28 - 9/1 at WL, first time to WL. It will be our second (hopefully annual) kid-free trip. We went last August because well, August is my b-day and that's what I want to do for my b-day, be in WDW without the kids. :thumbsup2 It's also our chance to try out the Deluxes b/c staying at a Deluxe when we go wtih the kids is just way too expensive - more nights, more tickets, the dining plan, etc. With just the 2 of us for only 4 nights and a good discount, it's not so bad.
Anywho, we probably will not reschedule even if the pool is closed since it's just the 2 of us and we wouldn't be swimming much anyways.

Hello and welcome! It's only my personal opinion but your trip should be fine. Pool should still be up and running and the spring should be finished.

You know, it didn't take anything away for us. I'll post some pics when I get them photobucketed, but we were in the end of the north wing and I didn't see the scaffolding unless I went out of my way to see it. I couldn't see it from pool, and definitely not from our room.

So glad to hear that! And THANK YOU for posting pics! I've never stayed at WL, but imagined from the pics I have seen (prior to work) that the scaffolding & tarps impeded the pool area. So happy to see everything look normal-ish!!!

I'm feeling more and more relieved every day thanks to you guys!

Thanks again & have a safe trip home!!! :goodvibes

P.S.....your kids are absolutely adorable!

Ok so not totally on WL topic.

I will be offsite in July to watch my nephew's basketball team in the AAU Nationals. (we're going to be at the team hotel and for a 1 bedroom with full kitchen and laundry that sleeps 4 at $100 we just couldn't justify staying onsite)

Luckily I bought an AP in March anticipating the possibility of making some runs at parks during our stay.

I made my first days FP+. Got 7DMT and while I didn't need A&E m&g they were available as well. I was kinds of surprised either one was available. The FP's are a hope more than set in stone as I have no idea of schedule.

I hope to make a pass at WL with my mom so we can look around a bit before the OCT trip. I wish I could make some ADR's but as any sports parent will tell you it's a total tossup at what parts of your day will be available for anything other than sitting around a gym until the day of.

The scaffolding is closer to the lodge in the area where the waterfall and "overlook" is. If you exit the building near roaring forks you may never see the scaffolding at all.

My kids are booked from 9/24 to 9/30. My oldest DD is ready to bail because the pool might be down. What do you all think? There are so many positives. Their ADRs are centered around them being at WL. The electric water parade. The boat to MK.

Well, I mentioned yesterday that "for fun," I emailed the IPO about the Silver Creek rehab and the WL pool rehab. (The "IPO" is the Itinerary Planning Office. They are your POC prior to your booked Club Level stay.) I received a much appreciated friendly response today, albeit with an aloha! and mahalo. I think she even spelled her own name wrong:rolleyes1. Her response does seem to re-confirm that in fact some pool work is going to be done late summer. I wouldn't panic about her August estimate. I still feel that our reliable sources' prediction of an after Labor Day start date is more precise and makes more sense than August, but that is just my feeling and not based on anything I've seen in writing. When asked yesterday by Heather, one of our WL sources was unaware of a set completion date. FROM THE WL IPO: Aloha! Thank you for your email. At this time, Silver Creek is scheduled to be up and running by July 4th, 2014, however, this is just an estimated time frame and could change at anytime. Silver Creek Springs pool is not scheduled for refurbishment until August 2014. At this time we have no time frame how long it will be unoperatable. I hope this was very informative for you, please let us know if we can assist you with anything more. Hope you have a Magical Day! Mahalo, Glennna Walt Disney World Itinerary Planning Office Phone: (407) 824-2466 Fax: (407) 824-3174 Polynesian.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com MY MESSAGE TO THE IPO: Howdy, I understand that Silver Creek at WL has work being done on it. It has been dry for sometime and the indoor lobby bridge is closed off. Do you have an estimate as to when the creek repairs will be completed and the water added? Also, I understand that some pool area work will be starting at WL most likely after Labor Day. Do you have any details on this and do you have an estimate as to when the work will be completed?

"Glennnnna" said it would be "unoperatable." Huh? Not sure I trust this source. The plot thickens!
