As I told TheLodgeLady the other day, we don't shoot messengers around these parts, so please remain calm…

hstrickland is reporting that her WL source told her that the WL pool may in fact be closed for an undetermined amount of time after Labor Day, but the VWL pool will be open. Letters will be sent to anyone whose reservation overlaps with the closure. The source does not know when the letters would be mailed out and this information is still tentative and unofficial, but is the latest pool news I have.

Wow. I feel for Heather. She keeps getting differentl stories. Maybe it is just that the powers to be aren't sure WHEN and WHAT will actually be happening.

Crazy :headache:

We have spent the last 4 Halloween's at the lodge with our girls. They do have organized activities. The past two years they have had a great DJ on the beach and they had a " monster mash party". Last year Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck came to enjoy in the fun. This was the first year I've seen characters at the party but it made it extra special for the kids. They have trick or treat stations set up around the lodge. Lots of fun!

We will be there on Halloween too!

It may seem like conflicting stories, but in regards to what Heather has been told, the predicted closure date of after Labor Day has been consistent and the fact that the pool will have to close is also consistent. What has been mildly conflicting is that one source told Heather that "the pool would be closed after 7 PM" and another source told her "there will have to be a closure, but no closure time has been set." Also, what people are told when they "call the resort" has been conflicting.

Hope this helps to clear things up a bit. I thought about not posting anymore updates until such time when the news is official and firm, but I know that many would like to be updated sooner rather than later and I know everyone understands that nothing has been made official yet by WL/WDW.

Canceling courtyard bunked room 9/20-9/26 if anyone is looking for free dining rooms going back into the pool of FD rooms. Kids will want to swim day and night and think we are better off moving to another resort with less construction risk for this timeframe. Hope to try WL another time!

I received an email response from Itinerary.planning @ disneyworld that "the pool is scheduled to be closed sometime in September, but exact dates are not known." Fwiw

That corresponds exactly with what Heather has been told onsite. But your email is slightly different from the email I just received yesterday from the IPO. Mine said August and didn't mention a closure, only a refurbishment. I think your email is more accurate.

So where did you book?

I apologize for creating more confusion.....Mine actually says "later this Summer"(not necessarily September) ...But it does say "closed for refurbishment"

We could just call Kendra down at the Trout Pass Bar, and ask her when she is taking time off,,,Then we would know

That's closer to the same as my email then, except mine has "inoperable" instead of "closed." I think we all know what that means:rotfl:

TP might still be open, best to call the lifeguard or Sally over at Falcon of the Nile.

I sent an email to the IPO and received a response a short time ago. I was told the feature pool is scheduled to undergo extensive renovations later this summer but no date can be given. Of course they mentioned the Hidden Springs pool and hot tub will be available. I have to say I am really frustrated.:(
When I sent an email to guest relations through the WDW site I received an email stating no renovation were scheduled in the near future. I think that email went to the same cast members who answer the phones and they aren't given any real information:(
That's all I have now, I don't know what to do next.

It would be nice if they said when! I'm getting really annoyed with all of the back and forth, esp with no notice.

I'm renting points for VWL December 1-7, so I can't change resorts anyway, but it would be nice to know. I wish Disney did a much better job of communicating. They really should treat their customers with more courtesy.

Wow, this is all so frustrating. But so typical of Disney unfortunately.

I don't think I ever introduced myself on this thread. Dh and I are booked for 8/28 - 9/1 at WL, first time to WL. It will be our second (hopefully annual) kid-free trip. We went last August because well, August is my b-day and that's what I want to do for my b-day, be in WDW without the kids. :thumbsup2 It's also our chance to try out the Deluxes b/c staying at a Deluxe when we go wtih the kids is just way too expensive - more nights, more tickets, the dining plan, etc. With just the 2 of us for only 4 nights and a good discount, it's not so bad.
Anywho, we probably will not reschedule even if the pool is closed since it's just the 2 of us and we wouldn't be swimming much anyways.

Hi hi and welcome : ) We are taking a similar trip Nov. 9 - 19 at WL and then 3 days at GF CL. My thoughts are exactly as yours ... No kiddos not a deal breaker with pool being so up in the air.
This is our first stay at WL as well, and our first without kiddos or grandkiddies ((( fun ))) So curious what dining plans did you make for the two of you? Did you make any character dining plans? Any special plans ect?

My TA just touched base and was told there are no advisories posted for WL. Once again, misinformation is king. The fact the creek is being worked on should be noted somewhere.

It bothers me because it would make things easier to give more notice and be wrong about timelines than have people rushing around last minute. There is evidence of permits filed so word is going to get out... *sighs*
