I just realized that the 20th anniversary opening of our beloved Wilderness Lodge on May 24th is the exact same day as the grand opening of Seven Dwarf's Mine Train 20 years later:goodvibes

CR would be perfect, but I noticed a slight Moderate trend. Are you still at WL-CL your entire trip?

The official Mine Train opening on Wednesday is Miss Kate's Bday! :goodvibes Happy belated birthday to our lodge!!!:cool1:

I want all the RCers near me, so I am being selfish ;) And YES we are still at WL CL all week:thumbsup2 We were planning our WDW days yesterday since in 29 days we are 60 days out!!!!:woohoo:

Has anyone experienced some upgrade pixie dust lately? Even though our trip isn't close enough yet, I still like to hear about It. And I know to always book what room type you would be happy with but I was wondering if you book say a standard view room with a promo, let's say the 35% promo they are doing this summer, and you get there and you don't get any pixie dust but you are willing to pay the difference to upgrade, is it more expensive to do that then if you were to have just booked the courtyard with the promo or is the promo taken into account for the upgrade too????

If the Promo is still active and there are upgraded rooms available you'll get it. If the promo is expired or no rooms left in the promo you're out of luck.

In my one experience, a paid upgrade was quoted at the difference in price between what I actually booked and the upgraded room rate, using the discounted rate I originally booked with. But, this may have changed and may not be the case because I have also heard that paid upgrades are quoted at rack rate.

I use the Military 40% off rate and back in 2010, I believe, when I asked at AKL, they computed the difference applying that special rate. It could be that the Military rate was still available for the upgraded room or they automatically will figure the cost difference using any discount you originally booked with. IDK for certain so I can't answer definitively, but I think you should expect to pay rack rate.

Oh, and today marks exactly one month until we check-in at WL-CL:hyper::goodvibes. We'll be there bright and early since we have a short drive from BWI:car:

But if I make three, we will eat three :rotfl2: I already broke my rule about giving up wine until vacation...I am doing great with exercising...so-so with diet. I have to prepare for all the weight I am going to gain from that COBBLER:rolleyes2

Great to hear your excitement returning to the world :flower3:

Giving up wine?? Yikes!! :faint: I usually have to build my resistance up before I go so I don't get tipsy on the first drink, haha.

Don't worry about too much cobbler, is there such a thing. You will do lots of walking so it makes up for it. :thumbsup2

Hi! Hopefully someone here might be able to help me. BFF and I will be staying at WL for first time Sept 28-Oct 5 (yay! Happy dance!). He is a big coffee drinker but always gets fancy Starbucks type drink EVERY day. I'm happy with just a regular old cup o joe. Is there somewhere at the resort where they do iced coffees and that type of thing? I know they have them at the parks and downtown disney but have never stayed "deluxe" so hoping maybe they have fancier options ;).

Thanks for any info!

:goodvibes I am attempting to lose the weight I have found over the last two years :rotfl2: DH says we can go all out on our trip....and I agree there is NO such thing as too much cobbler;)

ok this is what I do because I drink iced coffee and don't like just a regular cup of coffee over ice.

Night before I put a Starbucks Via pack in a bottle of water, add my sweetner, then shake shake shake. Put it in the fridge overnight. Next morning I take it out and pour it over ice with milk (soy) that I bought from the resort and keep in my fridge. It's not a fancy starbucks drink but it's the right taste and it's a hold over till you can get to starbucks (DTD, MK, Epcot) for foam/whip/macchiato/chia whatever. :rotfl:

The resort stores sell every thing from soy to fat free milk to whole milk. You can get sugar or sweetner in the QS and I use bottle of water if I bought a case or I save a empty water bottle and then buy a gallon of distilled or drinking water from the store where I got my milk. Don't use tap (high sulfer content and it can affect the coffee, I'd suggest you use it for the regular coffee as well.)

I have done this for the past 3 or 4 years, when traveling or at Disney.

Thanks! I will suggest this to him to keep him from being oscar the grouch in the mornings ;) He's said he can deal with regular coffee but it didn't sound like he meant it lol

One of the big selling points to upgrade to WL was closer access to coffee in the morning (for me). I have "requested" a room close to the lobby. Otherwise we were at CBR with a standard room which I have heard could be up to a mile round trip to the food court. Not a trek I want to make everyday!

No fancy coffee in the QS. Regular pots at the WCC. Concierge lounge has an espresso machine. What kind of pods are in the rooms now?

Thanks Drinehart for the water tip. I always forget to put bottled in the coffee maker.

They have single serving pods of Joffrey's coffee. They look like round tea bags. The coffee isn't too bad, especially if you use filtered water from the beverage dispenser rather than tap water. :)

So excited to return to WL..and thanks to the free dining we are staying in a 1 bedroom villa!! Dates are 10-26 to 11-1 we are doing mnsshp on 10-30..will the WL have any trick or treating?? Or maybe the haunted carriage rides at FW??

Tell me about it. That weight sneaks up on you. And, I realize as I get older it is much harder to get off. But I love my food!!

Yes we were upgraded from Woods View to Courtyard view this past Nov...but it was our honeymoon so I'm sure they often upgrade for that...second trip is coming up this Nov.

By the way, I can't believe it's still 5 MONTHS til we go :( I am studying for the MCAT and still have to do well before I can see Mickey...It's terrible :(
