Have a wonderful time Kerry. Will be looking forward to seeing pictures of our happy place.:cool1:

I check in late tomorrow night!! Can't wait, I've missed my home and F&W :). I am hoping we make it in time, I've been watching our flight all week, and it's been a bit delayed each night, but last night the flight from Mpls didn't take off until after the connecting flight from Atlanta took, so those people didn't make it. I sure hope that doesn't happen tomorrow, or I have rental car and lost point issues :sad1:

Just received a call from WDTC who said that they wish to move us to another resort for our dates in late October. They said it's because of a refurbishment. I said that I'd read it was to be completed end of September; the representative said it has been extended.

Has anyone else heard this? We are also staying at Boardwalk the last week of October (10/26-11/3) and haven't heard anything....

Okay called the number listed on BWI page 407-939-5100. The CM could not find any report of further refurbs in October so perhaps it was overbooked? I looked up our dates on the WDW website & the 2 alternative deluxe resorts that the WDTC rep had said we could stay instead showed no availability. What gives? I made our reservation back in May.

We are leaving 10/31 for our first BW stay and I'm soooo excited!!!!! Is it better to call or fax room requests the week before? Also, when can you find out about the outdoor movie schedule? Any tips on the best requests to ask when you are booked for SV? Is it better to ask for a balcony on a high floor without a parking lot view or hope for an upgrade? Thanks all!!!

Hi mouseRD,

Where have you been moved to?
Are you okay w/the change?

I've made many of our dining ressies @Epcot and surrounding resorts,
so moving from an Epcot area resort would throw a wrench into my plans.

So far I haven't made any decision; need to talk with my husband about what he wants to do. I'm just puzzled about 1) Is there really continuing refurb at BWI 2) How can we be moved to another resort that shows no availability

I don't know about the refurb being extended, but my guess is that they have a few rooms reserved at other resorts, just in case, that aren't part of the regular inventory.

What did they offer you? (If you don't mind sharing.)

There must still be some refurbishing going on...can't imagine that they wouldn't want to fill rooms that were reserved if they were ready for guests.

I agree w/jcemom - they may have availability that you and I cannot see.

I'm curious about what they offered you too!

YC which would be great also for F & W, but no refurb rooms till 2015. We stayed there last Dec 2010 (the year mid Dec was freezing!). Other choice was GF which has been recently refurbished, but would require 20 minute? monorail ride instead of walking in. Our last 2 visits were : May 2013 garden cottage suite at BWI with the spring discount ; in May 2014, we stayed in a 1 BR villa also with the spring discount. We got a bounce back offer for upcoming visit.

I thought the renovations were slowed down because they were unhappy with the contractor and were hiring another. Will be there in just 12 days!

We are heading down to BWV Oct 19-25. So excited to be heading "home". I just spent an insane amount of time reading this thread. Not because I need tips or advice or anything practical but just because...sigh...I miss the Boardwalk and can not wait to get back!!

Thanks for letting us know!

YC was actually my first choice - never having stayed at any deluxe - but, it was booked for our dates. I'm more than happy to have gotten the BWI. :goodvibes

We were at the BWI club level from Sept.23-30 and did notice that all the garden suites were being painted so I know they are currently not being used. When we got off the elevators on the 4th floor and turned right towards the CL the hallway to the left had a big "sorry for the mess" type sign but I'm not sure if any of these rooms were being used or not. So sorry that you are being asked to switch resorts that would have really upset me. The trip from the GF to Epcot to me is really inconvenient since you have to walk through Epcot to get to the world showcase and the food and wine festival. Is there any chance that you can stay at the BWI?

I'm sure this has been answered before, but does Big River Grille still not take dining reservations? I know Beaches and Cream is taking them now, but I haven't been able to find anything about Big River Grille. I was hoping for a late dinner there after we see Fantasmic. Fantasmic is at 7:00 so I'm thinking we would want to eat around 9:00.

Not sure but I'll ask. I would live to stay at GF but not really for a primarily Epcot (F & W) trip.

We just came from BWV and Big River still does not take reservations. We ate there and the food was delish!

Good morning from the Boardwalk.
