It's somewhat spontaneous, but it's every evening. Will be hard to miss! I think back when you went it was only some nights, now it's 7 days a week. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I'll have to spend more time on the boardwalk to catch it. :>

Does anyone know how late the food stands on the boardwalk stay open? Like, could I pick up a snack after returning from the park at night?

Hello everyone:wave:

I've been going back and forth on this for awhile now and I need some advice. My requests right now for a standard view are quiet pool view/upper floor. Since 4th floor rooms are CL closest to the pool and 5th floor doesn't extend out near the quiet pool, should I change it to say 2nd or 3rd floor? Will upper floor mean 4th or 5th to the room assigners?

Do you think this is a wise thing to do or should I leave it alone?

I don't understand -- "a standard view" seems to imply a DVC room, which means you will *not* be on the side of the resort that has any pool whatsoever. If you are talking a DVC room, I asked for an upper floor and got a 5th floor room. (If you are not talking a DVC room, but are speaking of the BWInn, my apologies. :goodvibes )

We're on the Inn side. They have standard view rooms over there too.

I'm fairly certain the pizza window closed at midnight. Sunshine Sweets and the Boardwalk Bakery close at 11:00pm

We switched to the BWI from the YC today to take advantage of a free dining offer in October (10/19-23). I've never stayed at Boardwalk, so am really excited. It looks awesome & I'm excited to go through all the prvious posts to get up to speed! :moped:

Hey there, another question.

DW and I are going to BWI for the first time in October. We are staying CL and have requested BW view w/King Bed.

Now having thoughts about a Deluxe room. I know the Deluxe rooms are all BW view, so that is good. But my understanding is they have 2 queen beds as well, not a show stopper. For 2 people, is that too much space to have? Do they have more bathrooms(maybe a 1/2 in addition to a full). I know they are more costly, just trying to see if they are worth the investment.

Thanks so much!

Just booked yesterday for our last big family trip before our oldest heads off to college.

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what to request for a standard room? (view/floor etc?) Thanks!

I actually have the same question! I have heard to request an Epcot view, but that's not one of the choices I'm given. Let me know what you find out!

There are non CL rooms on the fourth floor. My son had a great standard room on the fourth floor close to the elevators that over looked the gardens.

Yes, the deluxe rooms all have 2 queen beds and a queen sleep sofa. There is only 1 bathroom. The 3rd floor rooms have a much larger balcony, that we enjoyed. I would stick with the standard CL room though for only 2 people. There are only a couple King bed rooms on the CL, so if the view is more important to you, list that first. We usually are lucky enough to get a king bed even without requesting it, but it is nice to have the extra bed too!!

HAPPY WEEKEND. Very excited that in just a few weeks we'll be checking-in for the first part of our split stay...over here:flower3:

But, I will be taking lots of photos all over here and hope to get photos of a newly rehabbed BWI room:hyper:

Fantastic thank you :thumbsup2

Have a great time at the YC, I finally made it to the WL CL and I'm in love, I now have a joint favourite with the BWI CL :goodvibes
I'm glad you tried the OFC. So far, it's our favorite CL.

Preparing for my first trip to BWV...very excited will be arriving Friday morning for a quick weekend trip with my son for SWW. Was curious how long does it take for DME to get to the resort?
Though I haven't taken DME, I believe most report it takes about 1 - 1.25 hours door to door.

I guess I look at this whole refurbished rooms differently. I am so happy to be back at the Walt Disney World in one of the best resorts that I don't even notice things. There must be too much pixie dust in my eyes. pixiedust:

While I do notice just about everything:hyper:, I'm so happy, too that I'm more pleased than worried about rehabs. Once the rehab is done, you can experience something "new" at WDW, which for those of us who go often, is a real treat. I love the feeling of a fresh, "new" room and the first time you walk into it after staying many times in the former style.

I think part of the reason the new rooms property wide seem so similar is that everyone is going to the duvet cover format so they can get away from the dirty bedspreads. By using the white duvet covers all the laundry can be done together. They need to pay extra attention to the accessories, as they will be the only way to carry the theme of the resort into the room. I like what they did to WL, and even CR since they kept the mid-century modern vibe going. I am looking forward to the new rooms at BWI when I stay there in the fall.
It still amazes me that the "flagship" GF was one of the last Deluxes to get rid of those awful bedspreads. ITA about CR and WL. Let us know what you think about BWI.

I think I heard somewhere they are going back to the postcard theme.
Interesting…

Checking into Boardwalk today, room isn't ready yet but I was told that we will have a 4th floor garden view.
Did you get a "new" room? You know we'd all love to see one - no pressure.

Hi everyone! I just booked a trip a few minutes ago, and I'll be staying at BWI from 9/18 - 9/23! I've stayed at BWI once before in 2003, and I was disappointed that I never saw any of the entertainment on the boardwalk. Is there a schedule of when there is entertainment, or is it something spontaneous that you just have to catch when it happens?
I'll log your date and congratulations on booking!

I believe the Buskers perform from around 6:30 - 10:30. They are usually situated between the marina and Flying Fish. They aren't listed in the activity calendar so I'm not sure of their exact schedule, but the concierge would know and upon arrival you could ask.

Just booked yesterday for our last big family trip before our oldest heads off to college.

BWI Standard View rooms can have a view of the gardens, pool, canal or parking area in the front of the resort. I like requesting a high floor, which is the 5th, and an Epcot view. This 5th floor view is of the gardens with the Eiffel Tower in the background:

If you booked a Standard View room and you want a view of the Quiet Pool you can leave your request as is. There are non-CL rooms on the 4th floor. Also, the 5th floor offers great Illuminations views if you request an "Epcot View." If you don't care about seeing Epcot, the first floor rooms near the Quiet Pool will allow you to walk right out your patio to the pool.

I just did the opposite switch last week. Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates. Let us know if you have any questions.

The Deluxe rooms are exactly the same as a Standard room, with the exception of the addition of a sitting area that has a second TV/armoire, a queen pull-out sofa, coffee table and easy chair. The balcony access is off to one side. The bathroom and everything else is identical. psac's photos from the Deluxe room section of the thread:

I've said it on all my threads many times, so I apologize for those who keep reading this, but it bears repeating. Online Check-in room requests are very limited, are pre-set and don't always apply to your particular booking. Sometimes, they aren't even accurate. Always add any requests directly to your reservation by calling the WDTC/CRO or having the IPO, if you're booked CL, add them. Even if the WDTC CM tells you it's not possible or doesn't agree with your request, the Room Assignors at the resorts will understand. It may not be available and your requests might not be met, but it's always best to add them to your reservation. This can be done anytime from the moment you book to about 5 days prior to arrival. The Room Assignor does see both the requests you made through OCI and by-phone/IPO.

This is what the OCI room request options are:

No idea why "BWV" is a request when it's only a request when staying CL in a Standard room and that request would be made through the IPO. Otherwise, you must book a BWV or stay in a Deluxe CL room to have a BWV. I think this option confuses guests and why is the 3rd floor missing?

I just have to mention that WDWKOOK- you do a fantastic job with this thread! I admire how you take the time to address everyone's questions, no matter how often they're asked. I've learned quite a bit about BWI from this thread alone! Can't wait til November!

I can't wait to checkin in a few weeks at BWI. We will be there 6/16 through 6/23:cool1:
My DH and I stayed there for F&W a couple of years ago but the teens haven't. The one question I have is where on the 3rd floor is the laundry room? I read it is pretty small (only 4 washers and dryers). Does anyone have any idea how busy it gets? I know Ill do laundry at least twice during our trip.
Thanks!
Elizabeth

Yeah, the choices for online check in are pretty much what floor you would like. I think it also said "boardwalk view" but I booked standard so not sure why that option would be there. I thought "by elevator" would be too noisy but then I don't want a room at the end of the hall maze either. :rotfl: A nice quiet garden view is all I am hoping for. :goodvibes

How do you get to this? I can't seem to navigate to it through my reservations. Can it only be done 5 days prior?

Thanks for your suggestions Kook and Kerry.

I'm going to leave it alone. The 4th floor rooms that overlook the quiet pool are CL and the other ones on that floor overlook the gardens. So if I want a pool view I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that there are rooms available on the 3rd or 2nd floor near the pool and fountain. Don't want a first floor room. I'm always afraid something (gecko) is going to run in our room when the door is open.

No additional bathrooms like Kook said, just the extra sitting area. Those were my pics Kook posted, it was just my wife and I, but we really liked having the extra space. We are DVC owners now, and we always stay in 1BRs, also a lot of space for two people. But it's vacation!! We like to splurge and have extra space and not be on top of each other all the time. :goodvibes

We also tend to spend a lot of time at the resort. If you're a commando park person, then it might not be worth it.

I definitely agree about park vs resort time. When we started going to WDW, we were commando, stayed in the All Stars, and lugged the strollers and children back and forth for naps. How cool would it have been to just walk/boat back to BWV from Epcot and DHS.

Now, we go to parks every other day. This last trip across the lake, we only went to the park 1 day the whole week. :faint:

We are four and still do the studios to save points. We did a 1 BR a few times and they were amazing with the space and washer/dryer. Like you, we are on vacation and are going to splurge, so no cooking meals in the room. We do get groceries for breakfast in the AM and the occasional lunch. I look forward to the years when DW and I can go to WDW and have the room to ourselves just for the space.

Random question re: BWV bathroom . . .

Do the 1 bedrooms have a make-up mirror in the bathroom? TIA

Only 5 more days -- can't wait!
