We have 2 children, 5 and 12; I know the 5 year old could use it but what about the 12 year old?

I'd say it depends on the size of your 12 year old. You'll have a queen bed and a full size pull out sofa bed (which I found to be quite comfy). Can the kids share the pull out?

The one I'm in right now does. But.....it's maybe big enough for a small child to sleep on, and it's not very wide. The rooms that don't connect have them. If there is a connecting door, the table is moved to the day bed area and then there isn't any more room.

Ah, that explains why we had a day bed one time and not the other. The connecting door! I'm with you though; the bed is small in both length and width.

I'm pretty sure that this is correct -- only the studios that are 'dedicated' (i.e., cannot be connected to a 1 bedroom to make a 2 bedroom unit) have the daybeds. The first post of this thread has this info:

ROOMS: 383

LAST REHAB: 2010

DEDICATED STUDIO: 97

DEDICATED ONE BEDROOM: 130

DEDICATED TWO BEDROOM: 0

LOCKOFF TWO BEDROOM: 149 (CAN BE BOOKED SEPARATELY AS A ONE BEDROOM PLUS A STUDIO)

THREE BEDROOM GRAND VILLA: 7

So, it looks to me like you'd have a little less than a 50% chance to get the dedicated studio.

I can't believe your DD's a college Sophomore already and mine will be a Junior. I know some do the DCP right graduation. At least I think you can. Well, she has everything well planned and a trip coming up with you soon so all is well:goodvibes

Will you be posting a TR?

Apparently there is a difference between the DCP and the Disney professional internships. DD has researched this. The professional internships are for college graduates in a particular field and they are even more competitive than the DCP.

I always love reading other people's TRs, but I'm not much of a story teller and when I start writing, they seem kind of boring. Maybe I'll give it a try after this trip.

Thanks for the info on the daybed. Sounds like the daybed is not really a daybed.

We are looking at renting points from an Epcot resort and our standard procedure is to let the my wife and 5 yr old daughter share a bed and for me and my 12 yr old son share the bed. So if we stay at a studio, we all know who will be sleeping on the couch. Will the sofa sleeper be enough for me and my son (not a large child but almost the same size as his mother)?

Cute story that she posted the other day. She's a Photopass photographer and read at the International Gateway the other day. After taking pictures of a family, the young daughter hugged her leg and thanked her for taking her picture. As my daughter said, that's why she loves her job.

That is a good story. My plan is to retire, move south, and work at WDW, but only as a boat captain, only the MK to WL only in the smaller, non-covered boats. Since it is likely my demands won't be met, I'll just retire and go to WDW more often. :lmao:

We stay in studios and are a family of four. Our dds are 12 & 10 and the sofa bed is fine. When they start fighting, I go and lay down between them on the sofa bed - they usually stop. I have slept of some of the sofa beds at the different DVC resorts, and they a have always been comfortable. I am 6' and both dds are taller than average heights. Hope that helps and have a great trip.

Donna6635. Thanks, I am looking forward to this vacation. If you ever get the chance to stay at the Boardwalk, do it! It is such a beautiful area. I must admit, I am still, mulling over the split stay though. LOL

We are doing a split stay in August between BCV and BWV. As DVC members, we tend to use points for a studio and then upgrade to a 1 bedroom halfway through the trip.
The split stays we a nice way to enjoy the resorts but you can lose time repacking.

Just returned from our first say at our home resort! We loved it here!! We had a 1 bedroom bw view booked for 2 nights and a studio booked for 1 night.

This is the view from our 1 bedroom!!! LOVED it! Room # 5011. It was the EXACT room I hoped for! I made requests to get this room and every single request was met, I was in complete shock!! Needless to say..we did not want to check out into a studio :-)

Early Morning Sunrise on 5/30..I was up super early for SWW :-)

This is the view from our studio...be careful with where you request...just like my 1 bedroom, I requested the following...thinking it was just easier to not move far...

High Floor
Big River Grill
Large Balcony

The studio was literally right next door to our 1 bedroom, but it had this huge thick "ledge" that blocked the boardwalk right below us :-( Oh Well...live and learn :-) I will be doing a full report on my stay and I will definitely post it here!

Thumbs up for your Beatles picture. :)

Thanks! Thumbs up on your screen name -- that's actually my ring tone! :rotfl:

I have a question (that I may have to post on the transportation board, too), but does anyone know where the closest Publix is?

I did a search on the DIS and keep seeing a reference to a "Xentury City" one at 2925 International Drive, but when I look for it on the store locator on Publix's website, I can't find it. It makes me think that that store may no longer be there. Does anyone know? And, if it's not there, where is the next closest? Thanks!

Quoting myself. I think I've got it figured out. It appears that the Xentury City one did close down and right near where it used to be is a new Publix, "Water Tower Shoppes".

We just returned from a quick trip for SWW (stayed at POP)- this only got me more excited for our week trip in July to BWI- can't wait. Quick question... Does anyone know if I can get the CL concierge to book us lunch FP for BOG ahead of time?

That is a cute story. I hope your daughter is enjoying her experience. Maybe we'll run into her next month. We have the memory maker with our reservation and so will try to get more photos than we usually do.

What's cool is that she got it for free this month and we were able to link to hers. So Anna and Elsa, get ready for lots of pictures ;-)

And Kook, she still had to work Thursday, but she's at the Luau in the Polynesian.

If we wanted a view of Illuminations, can you get those in standard rooms? Would it be water view rooms?

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Beginning 6/10/14: Bus service to and from the water park after 2:00pm will only be available at Epcot. Guests traveling to Typhoon Lagoon after 2:00 will need to get to Epcot, then get on the Typhoon Lagoon bus. When leaving the water park, you will be dropped off at Epcot, then you can take other transportation from there. This is all due to the transportation changes at Downtown Disney.

If you booked a CL room then yes, they can check for you. No guarantees, but if its available, they will do the legwork for you!

Speaking of CL - anyone there now that has seen the progress of the refurb?

I can't book an ADR for Be Our Guest, nor do I see that listed anywhere as a FP+ option. I'm 137 days out from my trip, though, and can't actually do FP+ for myself yet, so maybe it's something that just isn't documented? In other words, is lunch something you *can* set up ahead of time because I've been getting the impression it's first-come, first served and I'd kind of given up on the idea of having lunch there.

You can set up a FP+ for lunch (just lunch) at BOG (for dinner, it's a regular ADR at 180 days).

This is the link:

https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com/

However, the dates only get released about 30-60 days ahead of time, so there is no way you can do this right now anyway.

The FP+ is not tied to the regular FP+ system for attractions and WILL NOT show in MDE.

Hope that helps.

I saw that update, too. It just seems really bizzaro and I wasn't able to find any better explanation or details. Do you think that means that is the transportation to and from the resort hotels or only the themeparks? I found the update kind of confusing. If you're a BWI guest who was at TL until 2:30, for example, would you be dropped off at Epcot's main entrance to then have to walk through the park to get back to BWI? Can't be that, right?
