I just have to mention that WDWKOOK- you do a fantastic job with this thread! I admire how you take the time to address everyone's questions, no matter how often they're asked. I've learned quite a bit about BWI from this thread alone! Can't wait til November!

Hear, hear! [An abbreviation for: "hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker (aka WDWKOOK) has to say!"]

DD19 and I will be arriving at BWI on July 19. Just need to finalize our Garden Grocer order and then there is nothing to do but wait. I don't want to wish away summer (winter was sooooooo long), but I do want my WDW trip to come!

:woohoo: I am going back to WDW!!! July 19-24

I have booked a studio at BWV. Stayed there in December and just fell in love with the area.:lovestruc

I had a really hard time choosing between BWV and WL. I was going to do a split stay, but it just didn't work well for this trip. We do have dinner reservations at WCC, so I will get to spend some time at one of my favorite resorts.

Just 48 days and I will be "home"!! Cannot wait.

Random question re: BWV bathroom . . .

Do the 1 bedrooms have a make-up mirror in the bathroom? TIA

Only 5 more days -- can't wait!

I do not believe there is a mirror with extra lighting (what I'd consider a make-up mirror) in the rooms. I'm too short -- and near sighted to boot -- to use the mirror over the sink, but there's a mirror in the entry right as you walk in the room. Not sure if it will have enough lighting for you, though. Enjoy your trip! (And consider packing your make-up mirror if you think you really need one. Though, who are you going to see that you'll ever see again? ;) )

Same with me on the split stay...Have never stayed at BWV but love WL/WLV. Tried to convince DH to do split stay in September, he said NO...What nerve! Have a great time when you get there!

I don't need a lighted make-up mirror, but just a magnified one. Actually, I don't even need that as long as the sink counter isn't too deep and I can get close enough to the mirror and the lighting is actually decent. Wasn't too pleased with BLT's lighting last summer, but like you said, who am I trying to impress? LOL

Definitely no magnified mirror. You might take a look at the pictures available through the Disney website -- like you're interested in making a reservation at the Villas from the website. There's a point where you can get a slideshow of the 1 bedroom (as well as the studio, 2 bedroom, etc.) and you might be able to determine from those pictures if you think you can get close enough to the bathroom mirror for your needs.

Thanks for the tip. I think the mirror above the counter near the bathtub will work just fine.

Thank you for your kind comments, KMcCP. I really appreciate the feedback. I always feel that there's never a dumb question on my threads and if someone has taken the time to post their question, concern or even their giddiness with going to WDW, then they deserve a response. We've all been in the same boat and can relate.

I can't wait to checkin in a few weeks at BWI. We will be there 6/16 through 6/23:cool1:
My DH and I stayed there for F&W a couple of years ago but the teens haven't. The one question I have is where on the 3rd floor is the laundry room? I read it is pretty small (only 4 washers and dryers). Does anyone have any idea how busy it gets? I know Ill do laundry at least twice during our trip.
Thanks!
Elizabeth
Welcome, Elizabeth! I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin.

There is a LAUNDRY ROOM on the 3rd floor of the BoardWalk Inn. It has 4 washers and 6 dryers. One of the washers is a commercial-sized machine. I haven't used them so I don't know how busy it gets, but it sounds similar to the WL laundry. I've used it many times and haven't had any trouble getting a washer/dryer. I usually do laundry after breakfast.

How do you get to this? I can't seem to navigate to it through my reservations. Can it only be done 5 days prior?
Go to MY RESERVATIONS within your MDX account. Click-on CHECK-IN ONLINE underneath your confirmation number (at the 60-day mark the button will appear). Underneath your arrival time you will see this:

Add Room and Amenity Requests
We will make every attempt to accommodate your request for a room ready prior to the Resort's standard check-in time. However, our ability to satisfy this request or any other requests you've made depends on factors beyond our control, such as the previous evening's occupancy.

Just click-on EDIT to see the screen grab I posted.

What made you switch to YC? Enjoy your trip!!! :cool1:
I originally booked BWI without CL, but I really wanted to stay at YC/CL, but it was at 100% occupancy. DD and I stayed there, but DH never has. I kept checking almost everyday until a YC/CL room opened up and I grabbed it.

 How sweet of you, Sandi. I think you just made my day…yep, you did:goodvibes

Your trip will be here before you know it! Have you considered getting some things at HESS or does GG work out better for you since they deliver? Is DD going to be a Freshman or Sophomore in college? When is she doing the DCP so you can get that nice discount;)

Well, WL will be there for a future trip and I'll log your dates, (if I haven't already).

Awww, thank you so much abk96. Couldn't do it without all the helpful and friendly posters we have here.

I bring my own with me. It's very small and portable, but does the trick for eye make-up, tweezing, etc. They have them everywhere and it looks like this:

Donna6635. Thanks, I am looking forward to this vacation. If you ever get the chance to stay at the Boardwalk, do it! It is such a beautiful area. I must admit, I am still, mulling over the split stay though. LOL

GG works out better because they deliver and because of the selection. DD likes to get organic milk and fresh fruits. I've done GG for years and have been very pleased with them. Hess is convenient, too, but not the same selection.

Thanks for asking about DD. She is now a Sophomore. Where did the time go!? She is having trouble fitting the DCP into her schedule. She wants to do a study abroad program next summer and that is messing with my discount! She has been looking at the professional internships that Disney offers to college graduates and that may be a better fit for her and her area of study (food science). Every time we go to WDW, she finds someone doing an internship and talks with them (Epcot and Animal Kingdom especially). She has her college classes planned out through graduation in a color coded, very detailed chart that she has worked on with her advisors and the college dean. She's a bit of a planner (hmmm, where did she get that from?!).

Quick studio question. Do the studio villas have a daybed? If so which ones do?

This time tomorrow we will be checking in for a short stay at our home away from home. And we get to see our CM daughter as a bonus.

Cute story that she posted the other day. She's a Photopass photographer and read at the International Gateway the other day. After taking pictures of a family, the young daughter hugged her leg and thanked her for taking her picture. As my daughter said, that's why she loves her job.

Awwww....that makes my day!!:)

Have a great trip! I hope to hear all about it.

Quick studio question. Do the studio villas have a daybed? If so which ones do?

We've stayed in a BWV studio two times. One time, there was no day bed. The second time, we did have a day bed, but I'd liken it more to a bench with a mattress. It was probably 5 feet long and not very wide. I think it would have been fine for a child (we didn't use it). I'm not sure how many studios have the day beds.

That is a cute story. I hope your daughter is enjoying her experience. Maybe we'll run into her next month. We have the memory maker with our reservation and so will try to get more photos than we usually do.

We have 2 children, 5 and 12; I know the 5 year old could use it but what about the 12 year old?

I LOL'd when I read about your DD's detailed chart - love it! She sounds like my DD15 who does the same kind of planning, so I think you're right about that apple not falling far;)

I can't believe your DD's a college Sophomore already and mine will be a Junior. I know some do the DCP right graduation. At least I think you can. Well, she has everything well planned and a trip coming up with you soon so all is well:goodvibes

Will you be posting a TR?

So great that you get to see your DCPDD soon! I hope you'll have her take your picture or will she be off the whole time you're there? Enjoy!

Quick studio question. Do the studio villas have a daybed? If so which ones do?

The one I'm in right now does. But.....it's maybe big enough for a small child to sleep on, and it's not very wide. The rooms that don't connect have them. If there is a connecting door, the table is moved to the day bed area and then there isn't any more room.

The "daybed" is a bench with a cushion in dedicated studios that have no connecting door. It is not a bed at all. It is narrow and only about 3 feet long. I guess you could have a very young child sleep on it, but it is so narrow they might fall off. I don't remember if you can move the cushion to the floor and let them sleep there. There is no way a 12 year old could sleep on it. Again, it is a padded bench, not a daybed. We sat on it to put our shoes on and off.
