(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD

Was just wondering whether noise will be an issue coming from rennovations with Club lounge at BWI affecting rooms or common areas. We'll be staying at BWI villas May 12-17.

If you are in the villas, you are not in the Inn. The Club lounge is in the Inn. They are basically two separate buildings connected in the middle with the entry and lobby.

In the health Club? When we recently stayed at the AKL I saw one there. I never knew it was there, so I am wondering if BWI might have one as well?

Thanks!

I thought there were only studios along the Village Green area, no one bedroom villas.

Yes, according to Shamus' map, those are all dedicated studios.

ooh! I didn't know that! we have a studio;garden view/pool view booked for late april/early may and I requested village green. sounds like a fairly good chance of getting that!:cool1:

I prefer a higher floor, but I didn't put that. I know if they can give you 1 out of 2 requests, they will. and I could get floor 4 overlooking the activity lawn. I just don't like it when you have to stand on the balcony to look out. but hubby doesn't mind that, and 2nd floor of village green would be VERY convenient to the lobby, stairs to the screen door and the luna pool etc.

so I just put Village green and let the chips fall where they may! either way, I won't be in frigid Illinois!!!

Hi all, we arrived on Saturday evening. The room we were assigned was very loud -- we could hear the elevator all the time. Every couple of minutes, we'd hear the mechanical whir and then a click. We weren't next to the elevators and it didn't seem like we were near the service elevators, but it was terrible. I slept maybe 3 hours the whole night. I stayed in bed until 6:00, took a shower, and went to the desk to plead my case. They asked a lot of questions about what I was hearing, but they really need to have a member of management spend 30 minutes in the room at any time of the day to experience what their guests are experiencing. In any event, we had to vacate the room by 11:00 and they said we wouldn't have a room until 3:00. All I wanted was a quiet room.

We were out by 8:00 and, while they said they would text us when the room was ready, we came back to the resort at 2:45 because I was exhausted. Our room was ready and we were given a very nice room on the 5th floor that is quiet. We have a nice garden view to boot.

Anyway, I still think the original room was not suitable for anyone. But, I'm glad my issue was addressed.

The rest of our trip has been going great. Very enjoyable.

I'm glad they were able to get the room issue sorted out. It sounds like your new room is much better!
Have a great vacation! pixiedust:

P.S.I'm in Kzoo, it's 5 degrees here now. Enjoy your break from Michigan's seemingly endless winter this year.. :crazy2:

I'll try to bring back some warmth, but I'm thinking it's not going to work. We've been checking in with my husband in East Lansing every evening and he has been giving us the weather report. He has been doing lots of snow shoveling and we are not looking forward to going back on Saturday.

This morning I am sitting in the Bellvue Lounge to check in on my office and do other stuff (like Disboard'ing). The lady behind the breakfast bar is the most delightful morning person I've ever observed. She is so friendly and helpful to the caffeine-needy guests. Definitely emodies the Disney spirit!

At this point I am happy to have any sunshine and warmth, real or imaginary. :beach::beach:
Relaxing at the Bellvue lounge sounds heavenly! Maybe only thing you're missing from MI today is Paczi. On the other hand, the Boardwalk Bakery is right around the corner. I bet they have something yummy! :goodvibes
Have a great Disney day! :cheer2:

I need to subscribe to this thread :thumbsup2 We love BWV and always try to get a reservation here if possible. We own at OKW but have only stayed there once! Our next trip is 7/26 to 8/2 with DH's family - can't wait to hang with the in-laws in the sweltering heat, I'm sure it will do wonders for everyone's moods! Then after that we are heading back to DW 12/8-12/14 with BFF and her family :cool1: Currently we have reservations at OKW but hoping to change them as soon as the 7 month window opens up :thumbsup2

This is great thread. I don't know why I've never stopped to read through it!

Ok, so I am totally confused. We have a 1BR Preferred View booked for July and I was thrilled to find Shamus' diagrams. (Thanks, Shamus!!!) This is the link to the one I assumed depicts the "Village Green," which is what I requested:

BWV - Activity Lawn - PV http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/1429/activity.jpg

The way I interpret the diagram is that there are 29 dedicated 1BR units here and another 15 or so lock-offs (which I assume could be co-opted to become 2BRs as needed). Am I being totally obtuse and missing something here? I just want to make sure I didn't request something that doesn't even exist. Thanks so much!!

I just read on another page that parties of 4 can no longer book the garden suites at BWI. The 4 of us girls stayed there last March and were/are sooo looking forward to booking the same thing.

Does anyone know why or if this is a permanent change? Guess we will have to find an alternative.:confused3

I responded to you on my TR that you posted to. I suggested a Deluxe CL room instead since they have two queens and a sleeper sofa and sleep 6. You could only book two Garden Suites now since the max. occ. is now two. Of course, with 4, you could also book a STD CL room.

Thank you for your response. We like the extra room and privacy from our 2 20-something year old daughters...that is why we liked the garden suite with 2 levels so much. As we are just starting our planning for next March we have plenty of time to find an alternative arrangement.

The Activity lawn is on the back side of the BWV, facing the canal. The Map you want to look at for the village green is called "Courtyard" on Shamus' maps.

Ahh--- thanks, Denise. It all makes sense now!

Hmm, wonder what to request instead? Perhaps just "near elevator?" Our kids are older than stroller age, so we don't mind using stairs if there is a neat location that is close to some type of exit.

Anyone stayed in a 1BR in a location that they loved?

We always stay Boardwalk view now so I can't really help you there, but years ago had a pool/garden view and faced the quiet pool and community hall. We were near the end of the hall so far from the elevator but close to the stairway. It was easy to get to the pools and parks. It also was not too far to the bus stop.

If our plane gets into Orlando Airport @ 3:55 pm, what time should we be to BWI? It will be Oct.4 which is a Saturday, if it makes any difference.

Assuming you're taking DME, I would say about 5:30-6, but if you're thinking about ADR times, your biggest question mark will be flight delays.

Thanks so much for the help! Just trying to get an idea so I can plan where to go once we check in. No ADR the first night, just in case.

The Villa's Quiet Pool and Spa will be closed through March 14, 2014.
