(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD

I put in for an upper room and pool view (have garden/pool view studio) for my room requests. I know these are only requests and they can't always be granted. Since I have never stayed at BWV, are these the better things to request for room location? I don't mind the long hallway walks.

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone has stayed both YC/BC and Boardwalk club level. Can you say which one had better service and food options?? Thanks.

Hi all,

We have an upcoming trip where we will be staying CL at the Boardwalk Inn. Does anyone know if the Innkeepers Club has bottled water available? If they do would like to get some to take with us to the parks.

Thanks in advance!

In September we were offered large glass bottles of Evian for our room. We didn't ask for anything smaller since we just made do with what they gave us (multiple bottles at once though).

I will admit to hoping they would give us or set out the smaller plastic ones.

I'm in the throes of editing and re-posting the CR/BLT thread . I hope to have it up later today or tomorrow.

Last minute change of our upcoming spring break plans, and now we're heading to the BWV! We were booked at the Marriott's Sabal Palms, but I found someone with a last minute rental of their one bedroom villa (they couldn't use it last minute) so we are renting it from them! We arrive on a Saturday, and the rental is Sunday to Sunday, so we'll spend the first night (on SPG points) at the Swan (I figured that's more fun and convenient, since we arrive in the evening and will just want to relax and have dinner somewhere along the Boardwalk).

I am so excited to be staying here instead! This is our favorite location at Disney! DH is excited as he loves this location too (even though he'll be working a lot). And DD has one of her best friends staying at the BWI, so she'll get to hang out with her some too! Another friend of mine will be a the BC too!

We usually grill once or twice when we stay at the Marriott, but it looks like hardly anyone does at the BWV. I understand they're charcoal grills, but last summer I bought some Bic Flamedisks for another trip, and I may actually bring a couple in case we do grill. Odds are we won't, since it's just the 3 of us this trip (DS is going to New Orleans on a service trip to help work on a house destroyed by Katrina).

Yippee! 6 days and counting!
What a great change - congratulations!

Does anyone have a pool activity calendar for March?

themouseforless hadn't changed to March as of yesterday (the hyperlink is in post 2). I don't know why they haven't been updating them closer to the beginning of the month like they used to. Sorry.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I didn't even think of the CM rate, since she doesn't start until the 17th. I used points. But thanks for reminding me for the future! I assume she can book a room for us to use if we ever need it?

I entered the Mousey Mindboggler last week and I noticed your name listed in yesterday's newsletter:thumbsup2. It bothers me though that the answer is the "EWP as seen in Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake," but AllEars has the answer as only "Bay Lake." I know that shouldn't bother me, should it?

I'll leave your question to the BWV experts, but that sounds good to me.

I've stayed at both and I found that the Regatta Club had better service, at that time, but the food options were very similar, though I preferred the Regatta Club. However, for a non-CL stay, we prefer BWI over YC. Only my opinion, your mileage may vary...

None of the resorts offer individual sized bottles of water anymore, but some will offer a larger bottle of water, as was posted, and others will have the filtered water in a carafe.

I know the PP answered this, so I'd like to say that this was also the case when we stayed at AKL a few years back CL. They had gone to larger bottles of water, and gotten rid of the small bottles. I understand the reason (many folks were taking lots back to the room, and then they had to be thrown away when they checked out, causing a lot of waste). Still, it would be nice to have the smaller ones to take with you.

You can either bring a refillable bottle to fill with their filtered water, but then you have to carry it with you all the time (kind of a pain) or get free ice water pretty much anywhere in the parks (and yes it can taste icky - sometimes I bring the individual Crystal Light packets of lemonade to add to make it drinkable).

I was surprised that they didn't have smaller water bottles. But they will give you an entire bottle of Evian to go, which would be EIGHT DOLLARS from room service!

More on the bottled water . . . during our BWI CL stay last month, I had significant need for water as I was hydrating for the Princess Half Marathon! They always had the large bottles ready for us to take back to our room at various times of day. We all had mickey water bottles (ordered from etsy!) for race weekend and we refilled those. I honestly didn't mind carrying it around the parks, but then again, I was pretty much always drinking water! I'm bringing the bottles back to Poly CL later this month, and plan to have a ziplock in my bag to store the water bottle when it's not in use. Our boys have mickey string bags for the parks, so they just put theirs in the bags.

Enjoy BWI CL!

37 days until our first stay at BWV!!!! Can't wait to see that BW view and enjoy the beautiful weather :goodvibes

I had booked a deluxe club level for 10.18.14 - 10.24.14 on a bounceback offer in December 2013 thinking my husband would come with me (Because I KNOW that this is the time he will finally like Disney). Well he is starting a new job and he will be getting much less PTO so he couldn't do the whole 6 days. So I talked to my mom because I don't want to go for less days, but I also don't think I would enjoy staying and being there alone... My mom agreed to come for the part of the trip that my husband can't, but it seems like a waste for her to come down for just 2 days. We came up with a plan to extend the trip to 10 days (which is a dream come true for me).

Well, the bounceback line said that the Deluxe Club Level wasn't available for bounceback for all the days I needed and they couldn't do a split reservation so I could switch to a different resort for the second part with me getting a bounceback discount on both reservations. I need the deluxe Club Level because it is the only CL that is guaranteed boardwalk View (and that is the 1 thing my dh wanted) I decided to call the bounceback line everyday to see if the deluxe room became available and after 3 days it did!!!

So all that to say my mom, Judy and I will be there 10.17 - 10.27.14 (with my husband coming for a few days)

Question though:
We are looking to book a few tours, has anyone done -
Disney's Key to the Kingdom Tour
Behind the Seed
Wild Africe Trek

PS it is a good thing we were able to do the 10 days because I had already picked 11 restaurants I wanted to eat at plus the food and wine kiosks.

I've never done any of the tours but there's a video on youtube of the African Trek and it looks like fun. Just search seeyareelsoon episode 76 on youtube. I love watching their videos.

Enjoy your trip planning.

I always get the two confused. As a matter of fact, I answered EWP in the Seven Lakes Lagoon.

Those are good choices. We usually book Boardwalk view, but if we can't get it and have to take pool/garden view I'm very happy if we get the pool view.

We just did Wild Africa Trek the end of January. If you are a Disney VISA holder, there are discounts at certain times. I highly HIGHLY recommend this tour. You cannot believe how close you get to the animals. I just posted picture on FB. I'll have to post some here, if it's not too off topic. Actually, I think there was a thread I was following. I should post them there. I cannot recommend this more highly. It is with every penny.

I stayed BC CL last year and BWI 2 years ago. I would say that BWI was much nicer than BC. The food offerings at BC seemed to be limited. We even had to wait for food refills one evening and plates one morning at BC. There was much more of a variety of foods at BWI. I believe BWI is updating the club in early June.

Jen7079's Mom here and both of us have Disney Visa's. Last November I did the special Sunrise Safari and that was wonderful, so I am looking forward to the Wild Africa Trek.

We've done both Behind the Seed & Wild Africa Trek. They were both great tours. Behind the Seeds was very informational & a good price. Wild Africa Trek is costly but it's worth every penny!:thumbsup2

We have done the Keys to the Kingdom and Behind the Seeds tours and enjoyed both tremendously. We also did the Backstage Magic tour which is fabulous. As someone else mentioned, the Disney Visa gives you a decent discount on these tours. I would do them again for sure. The Behind the Seeds tour is relatively short, but quite interesting --especially for DD19 who is a Food Science major. I understand that the guides and their personalities can impact the overall experience, but all of my guides were great. The woman who did our KTTK tour nearly brought me to tears by her very touching story about a guest interaction at the end of our tour (and I mean that in a good way).

Just to help justify the cost, don't forget lunch is included too, catered by Tusker House. When we went in January, it cost us $160 with the discount. The price does vary by season.

Jen, how long was Sunrise Safari? Always wanted to do it, but could never book AKL concierge with points. Wild Africa Trek is three hours and you don't have to get up early ;-)

Thanks for the review. I might have to look into the Backstage Magic Tour. That is the one that goes to several parks, right?
