Closed but Active PaperBag Album Swap Check in Here!!!

Well, I've done the Disney ones - they're not brilliant like Kats :guilty: but you should be able to stick photos on the pages without obscuring anything, I hope - I was really paranoid about the sizing issue! I went for big tags in the end just in case. I think the Summer ones wil be very different - I've got some buttons to use and I've got to work out how to do it :confused3

I actually started a bit last night. I put together the spring books and folded another set. I have lots of supplies and it is all grouped together. Now that I feel as though I have a bit of a handle on it I think I may get working on these a bit more. If I don't get anything else set up specifically i will bring these to CKC and do them Friday evening in my room.

Maggie, which tape are you referring to that you don't think will hold-up, the Scotch double sided, or the Art Accents, or a permanent tape runner? Can you get the book binding glue in one of the chain stores?

I was using double sided tape. scott I think. :) maggie

OK guys!!! RELAX!!! BREATH!!! It's OK!!!! STOP PANICKING!!!!!!! I use the 3M double sided scotch tape on a roll and put it in a dispenser, because it is strong and I like it. IF YOU don't like it!!!! That is OK!!! The tape runners I have found do not work as well on this project, for some reason, and it may be the paper bag, they just don't hold well. My second choice would be the double sided sticky tape, AKA art runner or whatever you want to call it. Just use this for adhering your pages to your book. You can use your tape runners for everything else!

As for the size issue, yes, as I have said before, some of the brown bag will show. That is OK, it is part of the charm of the book. If you don't want it to show, you will have to alter the size of your pages. Just be careful, because the inside pages tend to bend when the book is opened and closed. I usually add another alternating paper or cover with a picture or embellishment. Use the large sheet and tape down close to the edge, so the inside is where you will have the paper bag showing. Unless you want a boarder on the outer edge, then you can move the large sheet over cowards the middle more. This will cover more of your paper bag. Again, just be careful not to go too close to the inside of the book, otherwise you will just get bent pages. (Been there, done that!)

As for doing your pages first then putting them in the book, that is fine!!! If you are using brads and stuff. Go for it! It would make it easier than double matting!!!! It may make it easier working on your pages that way, since you are working in a smaller area. I quite frankly have never thought of this!!! I always did it the hard way!!!! :rotfl2: See we always learn new things with more people!!!!

Just remember, I don't want you to get frustrated!!! I am mealy a phone call away!!!

I'll phone you when I get to work tomorrow then - 8.45 UK time, I think that's nearly 4.00am your time so I'm sure you'll be up:rolleyes1 :lmao:

No, I think I've got it now, I definitely need to plan before I start though to save keep wrestling with the layout ;)

OK, your a nut!!!! You could call me in the afternoon!!!! Now that would be fun!!! Does your cell phone work overseas????

it does, but it costs a fortune - about £1.50 a minute or more to the US ($3  )

I would use the work phone - as long as its unbarred for overseas calls - but open plan offices are not the best places for chatting about swaps and stuff intercontinental :lmao:

DH is going out with the lads tonight so I might get started on the summer books - if I can at least get all my card cut that will be a start.

I'm still in about the same place..
Epcot books are folded.. and ideas ready... no paper cut but bought.. :(
Mickey and friends books not folded, papers cut, 6 pages assembled, ideas at cutting area...
I have some major 4-H project supervision to handle this week and too boot the dr. called and cancelled the boys' appts. for today due to emergency...which threw a wrench in the schedule but we'll work through it.. okay off to make some copies for the genealogy 4-H project..
Now, to figure out.. how a census worked in 1850 got Hickenbottom out of Hutchinson...(I think the oldest DD married but they were still living at home.. when the census worker came..spoke to the newly married DD and just assumed everyone's last name was her married name!)...

Don't you just love trying to figure out how they did that? I work a lot with the old census records and sometimes I just have to laugh...other times I want to almost cry because I can't find someone who should be "right there"!!

We have some really funny ones here because it was such a predominantly German (PA Dutch) population. So if either the family or (but not both) the census taker spoke with a PA Dutch accent, the names were all but obliterated! :rotfl: Conver=Comfort=Kunfer Boyer=Bauer=Bowyah Or one of my great-great uncles was counted as Agnes instead of Amos. (He & his sister were still living when I was in jr high so I know there was no Agnes.) It's made for some entertaining afternoons. ;)

Have fun!! :teeth:

Can I ask a few dumb questions?

I have never made a paper bag scrap book before but plan on teaching my 10 year old Missionette class this Summer. I was looking for some pointers when Piratesmate found my thread and directed me here. THANKS!!!

I started at the beginning of this thread and there were a lot of references to "Directions" Where are these directions? Can someone give me an over view of the books. I have been skimming the pages but it is kind of hard to follow.

Thanks.

Sweet DH picked me up a Crop-a-dile from HL with 40%off coupon at lunch today. I'll be able to put the book covers & ribbons on tonight.

I've cut out the cardstock for Pooh & Friends and will be working on those when I finish on the DIS.

It took me about 2 mornings (about 3 hours total) to put it together, including cropping the pictures. It was very early, so the brain didn't work so well at first, but it was fast! I did take pictures, but it is time to get DS from school. (The last time for 10 weeks!). It will have to be posted later!
