closed attractions for Aug.21 thru Nov.(turtle talk)

Allears wesite stated that the coral reef would remain OPEN. I am bummed because we made ADR for lunch at coral reef to see living sees in oct. Maybe I will be changing that reservation.

The restaurant will remain open and the the tank will remain the same. If you are going for dinner your experience will be the same as always.

I can't think of another spot where Nemo, Dory, etc., might be for character sightings - can anyone else? I think my DS learned to speak by watching "Nemo"... When the barracuda attacks at the beginning, he would nod his head at us and say "Nemo be OK..."

We're disappointed, but we'll be back...

Nemo and is sea weed pals will still be doing sets in front of the pavilion everyday from 10:00am to 5:30pm.

Are they closing turtle talk so they can add Dori, or is that already done?

That was already done... we saw it in June and it was great!

I also never been to living seas yet nor have been completley through Epcot.
Our last trip it was just to hard with two little ones. I love Epcot and I wanted to take my time this year and see EVERYTHING. I dont think it is fair that Disney closed this attraction at this time. I know they have to do things to attractions during the off season, but it is just not fair that they are closing this attraction at this time. I agree it is strange they waited till after the free dinning Promo was over to do this.
Did anyone found out if Ice station cool is still going to be closed?
I dont see it listed anymore on there web site.
I am thinking about sendign them a letter. :confused3

From what I've seen, Ice Station Cool is undergoing a 6 month refurbishment, and will re-open as "Club Cool" when it's done.

Oh, and I have had two CM confirm that the backstage tours won't be affected by the refurbishment of Living Seas. So they're still on.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the reasoning behind this. Why is it not fair that they shut down this particular attraction for rehab? Why is that any more or less fair than shutting down IASW for 6 MONTHS or more for a rehab?

Also, I really doubt the end of the free dining promo has anything to do with the announcement of an attraction rehab. There's no conspiracy against free dining guests. If they had announced this a month ago before the end of the promo, I don't think I would have said to myself, "Gee, one attraction in Living Seas, which I almost ignore every trip, is being rehabbed during our trip when we get over $600 in free food. Well, I guess I better cancel the trip now!"

To be honest, I can't believe there have not been MORE announcements for rehabs. I expect to see them soon, since they always rehab attractions during off season. It's not a matter of "fairness", but a matter of keeping attractions safe and in working order for guests. The fairest thing to do is to wait for one of their least busy times of the year. Guess what? September-November is one of their least busy times of the year. We have had little ones, too, for the last several trips to Disney, and are always disappointed that something they might enjoy isn't operating, but we don't view it as "unfair" that Disney has to maintain their attractions to high standards, which almost always occurs during value seasons. Unlucky for us for that trip, maybe, but not "unfair". We missed IASW the last time and were sad about it, but this time we'll get to ride a much fresher and newer-looking IASW.

Okay...I just edited out this post since grimley1968 posted an almost exact replica of what I said.

(PS-I am a big fan of Crush..so I was really looking forward to TT w/Crush)

Noooooo! My DH has been out of the country since before TT opened, and I was really looking forward to him seeing it during our trip. Guess that just means we'll have to go again once it reopens.......

First of all, how is it NOT fair that Disney is closing Living Seas(and TT) at this time? Can you explain that one a little further please? I'm wondering if you're thinking that the Disney Co. should consult with you before they rehab anything. People gripe, holler, and complain because a ride or pavilion needs rehabbed, then they gripe, holler and complain when its CLOSED for rehab. I was disappointed in Dec. because we couldn't enjoy IASW..but I understood WHY it was closed and enjoyed the rest of my trip...knowing that the next trip it would be waiting for me. When you choose to go to WDW during the "off season" you risk that your favorite ride will be closed. Its just a fact. If you don't want to deal with it then go during the high season. Seeing as you have stated yourself that you "know they have to do things to attractions during the offseason" then I'm not sure what the big fuss is about. Living Seas is my 15 yo DD's favorite thing in all of Disney, Finding Nemo is her favorite movie and she aspires to work with marine life in the future. She was also looking forward to Turtle Talk, but will survive the rehab, I'm quite sure. As for how "strange" it seems that they announced the closing after the free dining plan offer ended...well...thats a moot point now isn't it....seeing as the free dining offer was opened back up as of July 18th. I don't think there is anything funny, odd or strange about this. Rehabs are done in the off season...The Living Seas needed a rehab...the time to do it is coming up....its that simple.

When we were there last week the line for TT was incredibaly long. We really wanted to see it but the line was so long we would probably have been waiting for the rest of the day. The line actually want past the queue and around by the gift shop. When we left Living Seas, the line was even longer than when we arrived. I hope that one of the reasons they are closing is to address this problem so that I can see TT when I am there next year. :earsboy:

Especially not since the restaurant is still open!

Wow, we were there over Spring Break and there was a line but everyone in it got to go into the next show. The only reason there was a line was because the rest of us got there after they closed the doors for the show before us. All of the sudden, we'll be there when it's closed too...(last minute surprise trip) but The Land was closed for rehab when we were there last so I guess we'll spend time there instead.
