closed attractions for Aug.21 thru Nov.(turtle talk)

I am disappointed too. We skipped this in June and had planned on seeing "Turtle Talk" in November. Oh well, now I have a reason to go again next year....like I needed one. :goodvibes

I thought Turtle Talk was brand new?! We saw it in January and it was BRILLIANT! DS really enjoyed it, and we loved the whole Living Seas pavilion. The manatees were so neat! And the whole educational area about sharks was so much info that we wanted to go back and spend more time.

Personally, I did not care for "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" a single bit and it in no way is a good alternative for Turtle Talk! Not even CLOSE!

Living with the Land was closed when we went in January so I will probably enjoy going through it, but I would have liked to see Living Seas again. :sad2:

I noticed some DIS'ers have photos in front of a Nemo type display, which has all kinds of pretty sea looking plants and I think one or more Nemo characters. Is this still going to be open, and where is it?
Thanks!

Is this the one you are talking about? If it is, then you are ok...it is outside of the building for all to see.

I'm a big Nemo fan and REALLY wanted to see this! :sad1: Am I the only one that finds it interesting that they announced this news right after the "free dining" promotion to fill up the parks ended? Would it have caused a lot of people to not book a stay? I doubt it, but Disney must have had this renovation planned for quite some time. A major attraction closed for over 2 months means some sort of major overhaul. Oh well, yet another reason to plan a future trip! :earboy2:

My worry is that it won't be closed long enough for a 'major' rehab.
WDI has had all sorts of cool ideas, ranging from more of an alignment with Nemo ala "Finding Nemo", to more of a 'classic' Disney attraction styling with Capt. Nemo. No doubt WDI will be enhancing the Turtle talk show venue as this has generated very positive guest feedback.

Time will tell! ;)

She also said that the information she has states that it is just the section with Turtle Talk/Crush that will be closed and undergoing renovations, but that at least part of the attraction will be open. Of course, that is subject to change.

As I stated in the other thread she was misinformed and the entire pavilion will be closed. The only thing that will remain operational will be the Coral Reef and the backstage/dive tours.

Thanks Peter, you answered my question before I asked it! We have an aqua seas tour booked during the rehab. I guess I'm glad we can still do it, but it would have been more fun if the whole thing was open. Hmmm, should I cancel and do it next year instead? How to break that news to ds10 who was so psyched to swim with sharks.

NB

This is so disappointing :sad2: We are going in Sept. and the kids were so looking forward to anything Nemo, but esp. Crush. :badpc: Well, some other thread was wondering about being able to do Epcot in one day ---with this pavilion and the Wonders of Life pavilion closed--I say Go For IT!!! It's now doable!! :p

still disappointed about Crush, but DD2 will still get to take a picture with Nemo!

I don't think the two issues have a direct link. This time of year is not as crowded and thus it makes a good time to refurb some attractions. It was not a matter of "if" an attraction was going to be rehab'ed, but rather "which one(s)". I still wouldn't be surprised if a few more rehabs happen during this time frame.

Here's to hoping that none of the "major" attractions go down!!! :wizard:

Yes very crushing my family and i have bypassed that attraction and we where going to do that this trip... :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Us too, as it didn't occur to me that they would close it (it's only just been put in) we bypassed it this most recent trip, thinking we would get a chance to see it in November..oh well.

This sucks, sucks, SUCKS!!! :guilty:

First off, EPCOT is my absolute favorite park ever. I've thought this ever since I first visited in '83, back when I was twelve years old. It has a certain psuedo-cosmopolitan-yet-still-warm-and-inviting-in-a-typically-Disney-way feel to it that I absolutely adore. When someone mentions Walt Disney World, EPCOT and Spaceship Earth gleaming boldly in the midday sun is what I immediately think of (even though they insist on trying to gum up my fond memories by insisting on keeping that eyesore of a Mickey hand holding a wand affixed to the majestic ball).

And the Living Seas is one HUGE part of the total EPCOT experience. It's informative, yet fun, and at a decidedly meandering pace. One could, literally, take up half their day just enjoying all that this pavillion has to offer. I was overjoyed when I first heard about Turtle Talk with Crush (YAY!! Disney hadn't given up on this sometimes unfairly maligned attraction!), and could not wait to see it.

But, not now. Disney has denied me a part of my bliss this next trip. Ah, well. At least they haven't closed all of World Showcase down for refurbishment. Well, not yet...

OH no Turtle talk was one of the attractions i was planning to see to you. :badpc: Darn Disney ! Lol

To quote crush:
put flipper to forehead and ddduuuuudddddeeeeee
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

never been to living seas yet and guess I won't get to see it in Oct.

Guess theres always next time

I spoke with a CM at the backstage tour reservation center, and she said that neither the Coral Reef restaurant nor the backstage tours at the Living Seas will be affected by this refurbishment, which sort of made me feel a little better. At least we will still be able to take our two tours we have booked in Sept. I'm trying to confirm this right now, but it looks like a little silver lining around the big rain could on my day.

:earsboy:

Well, when I booked our Spring Break trip this year one of my favorites was supposed to be closed...ISWA. My 7 yr old cried and literally wanted me to change Spring Break, not just our vacation but the whole school district scheduling of Spring Break so we could move our vacation and she could go on her favorite ride (yes she IS a bit dramatic). Once I convinced her the plane tickets were paid for and couldn't be changed and the district wouldn't change Spring Break just for our vacation, she calmed down but was bummed. We were going in March, it wasn't due to open til May but there must have been some pixie dust because it was all fresh and newly painted and the dolls had new outfits and it was OPEN when we were there. So who knows just maybe at least some will be as lucky with Crush and Turtle Talk :wizard:
