Hi! Please tell me about the room closest to the TTC. Does the trip to the ceremonial house get really old after a while. We are EPCOT fans, but I would really like to stay at the Poly next summer instead of a EPCOT resort, or at least split the stay. Are these rooms very inconvenient to everything else?

I don't think it's inconvenient. You would want to request either Tahiti or Rapa Nui (I usually request Rapa Nui). I think a lot depends on whether you typically spend a lot of time running back and forth with refillable mugs. If you do, it will take you a good five minutes each time. But it sure is convenient, not only for Epcot, but to catch the ferry to MK (or even the express monorail).

I just came back from Tahiti. There are many advantages: You can walk to the TTC. This gives you access to the Epcot monorail, the MK monorail and the Ferry to the MK. Don't discount the Ferry. On 8/30, after Wishes, we took the Ferry back. The lines to the monorails (resort and TTC) were HUGE. This is a huge plus for Poly guests that I don't see discussed to often on the boards.

Tahiti is AWESOME! You also get our own "private" beach right behing the longhouse! Everyone uses the one behind Hawaii. People don't even realize it's there!

Walking around the Poly is a delight, and it's really not that big. Even if you are at one end or the other, I don't think it would make any mode of transport or the GCH that far away.

We loved walking around, particularly at night! We were in Tokelau, with a view of the quiet pool, and thought the walk to TTC and GCH were both very quick.

I couldn't agree more. We stayed in Tokelau for our 12-06 trip. I was almost 6 months pregnant with twins and none of the walking bothered me.

My DW was 7 months while we were there last week (although not with twins) and she said she didn't mind the walk although it takes a day or two at the resort to get your bearings.

We are in Tahiti right now. Going to Epcot is awesome. The only annoying thing is the ferry boat's horn blows everytime it gets close to the dock, but I'm learning to ignore it. Walking to the ceremonial house is a good walk away, you just have to plan your trips so you can do other stuff once you are finished in there -catch MK monorail or buses.

I agree with you that staying there must be great if you plan to use the transportation from the TTC. However on mornings when Magic Kingdom does AM EMH isn't it a disadvantage to stay there, since they don't run the Express Monorail or the Ferry until 9:00 AM? So that means you're only options of getting to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian is on the Resort Monorail at the GCH, or by the Resort Ferry which also shares with the Grand Floridian.

Great question, I was just going to post something similar as I'm wondering how the AM EMH works for transportation from the Poly. And yes, we're one of those families who likes to arrive well before the 8am rope drop on EMH mornings. ;)

We've stayed in both Rarotonga- which is right next to the GCH, and Rapa Nui, which is right near the path to the TTC. My husband found the walk from Rapa Nui to...anything...other than the TTC annoying after a while. He's not a big fan of "excess exercise"...
We spent a lot of time using the monorail, so for that trip, (our children were toddlers and infants at that time) Rarotonga was a blessing.
Put it this way, for our trip in 2 weeks, he said he didn't care where we stayed as long as it wasn't Rapa Nui or further!:lmao:

It is wonderful for monorailing to MK and Epcot.

Getting to and from the GCH is a pain, IMO. It isn't so bad when it isn't raining, but it is a real pain in the rain. It is a smaller pain when it is very hot, but a small one nonetheless. It does get old.

When the Magic Kingdom would have AM EMH, it's like I said before in my previous reply. The only there from the Polynesian is the Resort Monorail from the GCH, or the Resort Ferry that leaves from the boat dock. For Epcot the Monorail from the TTC would be up and running earlier and for MGM and AK just take the buses like you normally would.
