Good for you, Phorse!!

I didn't know you were a lunch lady! Did you see Survivor this season? Denise, the lunch lady was my FAVORITE! I was really rooting for her. I was sooo glad she got that $50,000 from Mark Burnette.

Yep! I'm a lunch lady and I don't even have a mullet! There was quite a bit of controversy surrounding her though. Did you see that thread about her after survivor was over?

I plan to go back next year but I may look into subbing. Much more flexible so if I want to take a vacation or feeling crappy I just don't have to accept the job for the day. I'm going to look into it I think.

NO MULLET?? WTH??? ;) No, I did not see that thread. Anything interesting?

Subbing is fun! I used to do it before I graduated college a few years ago. I loved that flexibility!! You should totally do it!

I had a mullet but my DH thought it was too sexy and wouldn't keep his hands off me so I got rid of it. Sometimes you can be too sexy for your own good. :lmao:

Here's the link to that thread; http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1662790

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I loved her reason behind the mullet was so her hair would be short enough for the luncheteria, but still be long in the back so she could be feminine for her DH. I was rolling. I noticed that even months later, after she had lost her lunch lady job, she was STILL sporting the mullet. I think she just doesn't want to have to fix her hair!!

Thanks for the link!

Oh please, I've seen a few lunch ladies around here with long hair! They all wear the hair net cap things! :sad2:

Becca! How are you, my friend? I sent you a text today, did you get it?

I did get your text and I sent one back. It only took me half an hour to do so. I need texting lessons!

Merle, do you eat at Five Guys? We never had those till we moved here. I quite like that place! I am having a bacon cheeseburger with no bun. :thumbsup2 DH forgot my Diet Coke though, and that REALLY chaps my cheeks! :furious:

No hair nets for us. We wear visors. :snooty:

How do visors keep hair out of food? Not that it would not be absolutely delightful to get one of YOUR hairs in my food. Just wonderin'. ;)

Girl, me too. I am new to the texting thing as well. I never did understand why people texted when it was so much faster to just dial up their number. Now I am discovering several reasons why texting is preferable to a phone call! :rolleyes1

Well, we do pull our hair back (I do because its longer) plus I just cashier for the most part so no biggie. Not sure the visor really does anything but no complaints so far! :thumbsup2

You'll have to tell me about subbing sometime Bonnie. I'm up in the air about that still.

I'm guessing that it must be Muffycat's birthday, too, but yeah...it's my birthday.

You must have the freakin fly....

Happy Birthday to both of you

Fuzzy crocs? I didn't know crocs came in any other style except for hideous. :confused3 :rotfl: Just kidding! I am not a croc lover, but I do have the capri flip flops, which I like. I was not aware of any fuzzy kind though.

Sometimes when I am down at my sister's, she has two near her. The one here is just a little to out of the way, hopefully we will get one closer soon.

I just got mine, I hated having to give up the regular Crocs when it got cold.

Hey friends! Does anybody enjoy those ghost hunting shows like Most Haunted, and Fear? My DH LOVES those. He totally wants to go to one of those haunted places and go on a ghost hunt. We are going this summer to a haunted prison that was featured on MTV's FEAR. They let people sit in the old electric chair and everything. Spoooooky!! DH totally hopes to see a ghost. I believe ghosts exist, but I think what you see on those shows is a crock. JMO.

You'll have to tell me about subbing sometime Bonnie. I'm up in the air about that still.

Well, subbing is different in each school district. I know that here in Northern VA, you get hired to sub at a certain school and you fill in wherever they need you. But in Las Vegas (where I subbed for 3 years), the entire city is one huge school district and you are not assigned to a certain school. You can get called to sub anywhere, unless you narrow down the places you are willing to sub at. Then you are only called for the jobs in whichever areas you selected. You can also narrow it down by grade or even by school. I narrowed mine down to only sub in grades K - 3, in only the NW side of town.

Requirements to sub in Las Vegas were that you had to have 62 credits of college, and like 6 of those credits had to be in an education related field. But things like Sociology and Psychology classes were applicable somehow. They do interview candidates, but it is not hard to get hired on as a sub. We just had to go to a training day and apply for a substitute teacher's license and pay the fee and get fingerprinted. Once you are cleared you get set up in the sub system, which is done by phone and online. If you dont' want to wait for them to call you, you can check the system the night before and see which jobs are available and choose the one you want.

It's MUCH easier when you get to know certain teachers and they keep calling you back to sub for them. I had cute little business cards printed up, and whenever I subbed for a new teacher, if I liked her class, I'd leave her a card and ask her to call me again.

If you have any questions, let me know. Hope this helps.

Remind me where in MD you live again, Merle? You're not that far from Janette and me, right? (I'm in Woodbridge).

I saw a few ppl mention they are lo carbing as well. So I figured I would share a great site for receipes. We make meals for the whole family using the site. The kids love the food too.

Hey! Thanks for the recipe link!! Hey, how old are your girls? I have 3 girls too, ages 14, 10 and 6. Brats....all of 'em!! ;)

I bet she wears flannel shirts, too. :rolleyes1

I was actually really surprised that she was married. I liked her a lot! I was surprised when I read the thread Phors linked us to. I had no idea she was feeding us all a line of hooey.

Five Guys :goodvibes yummy!

So of the three, which are your faves, Deb? I just have the capri flip flops. They are quite nice. If I run across the fuzzy ones though, I just may try them on. :thumbsup2

Wow - we have way too much in common. My dh loves Ghost Hunters and wants to be a member of TAPS.
