I found a piece of clipart on a web page that i would like to use in my signature, but i have absolutely no idea how to get it in there? Can anyone explain how to do this in layman's terms?

Hi KingKobra, and Welcome to the DIS!

Do you have a place to upload the clipart to...your own homepage?

Here is a series of instructional threads that will cover all the things you need to know about web sites, downloading and uploading clipart, guidelines, clipart in your signature, etc. Go through these and then if you have any questions you can post them here. Or just post any tests that you are making and if it isn't working for you, someone will most likely step in to help.

Info on Clipart, Fonts, Creating your own DIS website, Smilies, and more....

I read how you're suposed to put the images in your signature but its all greek to me.???
It says as follows:

Adding Images

To include a picture or graphic within the body of your message, you can simply surround the address of the image as shown here:

vBulletin_logo.gif

Note that the http:// part of the image URL is required for the code.

You can even create a thumbnail-type hyperlink by surrounding your [img] code with a [url] code like this:

[url=http://www.disboards.com/forums/images/vBulletin_logo.gif][img]http://www.disboards.com/forums/images/vb_bullet.gif[/url]

This produces a link like this:

What are they talking about when they say the address of the image? On the web page that has the clip art there are many images so how can i do this? I also saved the image on my computer but i dont know if that will help or not. Please any help?

This is why I asked if you have a place to upload the image to.

Now that you have dwnded the clip to your computer...it would help if you could upload it somewhere.

Do you have a personal website?

After you answer this, I will tell you the next step.

I was able to put a clip art on my signature area--but it just has a wierd box thingy there instead of the goofy picture i selected! Help! What am I doing wrong here???

I have to run..but I will tell you this.

The way to find the address of an image is to RIGHT CLICK on the image.

A small screen will pop-up. At the bottom..it will say PROPERTIES.

Click on Properties, and you will see the address (http://..etc.)

The only thing is..many sites do not let you direct link to their images.
If you have, or create your own site..you can UPLOAD it there. Then you get the address of the image you want to use, from your own site.

If you need to create a site for yourself, I know some great Techie will be along to help you shortly.

Hope this helps!

goofyfordisney... you copied the link to the entire page of "Goofy's".

From that page, click on the image you want to display, then copy and paste the URL into your signature.

ok here is how I did it....

1. Find the piece of clipart that you want.
2. Right mouse click it and select properties.
3. Copy the internet address beginning with the http://
4. Go to your profile and paste the address in the signature box
5. put
at the end of the address again with no space. it should look like this http://www.whateverblablabla[i/mg]
6. Click submit and make a test post to see how it came out
If you have any questions post them and im sure you can get through this if i could.

You are SO cool!!! Thank you so much for doing that for me!!! I'm going to try it again and see if I can do it. How were you able to do it for me??? I am so slow with this stuff! I would like to put a icon under my user name in the left hand column--do you know how to do that? Thanks again!

well umm lemme see here.....The icon on the left is called an avatar. To put one of these things go to user cp and select the Edit Options. To put in the avatar go to the very last option that says avatar. Click the buton that says change avatar and you can select the one you want from a group. (I think there are a hundred to choose from or something like that.) Then just submit modifications and your all set.

BTW If you aren't happy with those, you can try to search for them on the web under "Disney Avatars" or something of the sort. Post any other questions u have if u need help with that or private message me and ill get back to u as soon as i can. Peace! :earsboy:
