CLIA Announces Voluntary Suspension of Cruise Operations from U.S. Ports Until September 15

:cheer2:125% for my August 8 Fantasy... here I come ! (Had booked same cruise and week for next year about month ago)... time to set a new countdown:cool1:

Hey, gotta make best of it...

That sucks, but not surprising. It might not be until November until cruises are back. If they even resume in 2020.

Glass half full. I like it!

The other thing is that the Dream was rumoured to go for dry dock in early October so odds are that even if sailing was to resume around Sept. 15, the Dream may not be back before late October/early November

Looks that way. Our October 2nd Dream cruise is not available on DCL's website.

If you go by just what's available on DCL's website, it looks like they've suspended all cruises until October 4th.

I suspect this was driven primarily over the fact that Florida has had the single highest one day total for new Covid-19 infections (3822) so far, and with it being barely a month until the No Sail Order expires, I don't think they want to even consider letting any cruise ship depart from a Florida port at this time, and I fully expect the CDC to extend the No Sail Order beyond July 24th with this new infection information. It's logical that they're going to want to err on the side of safety and protect not only the passengers but everyone on board the ships including crews. Plus the fact that they're STILL trying to get crew members to their home countries after so long on board the ships.

Bummer ... :badpc: Now just have to wait for the official notice from DCL and 125%.

Wait a minute .... I paid for 7 out of the 9 going on the September cruise. So would that be 100% refund on my CC or 125% in their future sailing account?

The first available sailing showing for the Dream is the Nov 1st 7 night Eastern. :(

Sad but expected. RIP August cruise. I will drink copious amount of run fruity drinks tonight to mourn you! 🍹

This is the second rebooked cruise for us so I guess I will be interested to see Monday how they calculate the FCC (we paid out of pocket for the increased cost of our second cruise because we moved with the 100% FCC for sailings before May 31 rather than the 125%--which they applied retroactively as OBC when they eventually cancelled--so I wonder if they will hold us to the original cruise FCC amount) and whether they hold us to the original 15 month window. My email said I'd be getting 125% on my August cruise and a March 2022 deadline, but am assuming that was just a form email.

Yes, they really need to release the itinerary for the rest of 2021. The way these cancellations keep coming, they're running our of re-booking room. Better luck on your next one, hopefully 3rd time's a charm

These are unsustainable numbers. They need to get this thing figured out or a lot of lines aren't going to come out of this thing when it's over. Carnival alone announced yesterday they had quarterly loss of $4.4 billion dollars. That's just one quarter.

According to this CLIA article "Each day of the suspension of cruise operations in the U.S. results in a total loss of approximately $110 million in economic activity and up to 800 American jobs".
100% agreed. Unsustainable is the perfect word for this. The industry is on the brink of catastrophe. (As is the entire economy). 100% virus free can’t be the benchmark for normalcy.

Yep, all the way through the end of September.

Anyone else part of the multiple cruises cancelled/rescheduled club? Will there be a gold level? :rotfl2:

If you count the cruise where I said "yeah, that one works, I'll book that tomorrow morning" which I then found canceled when I woke up, then that puts me at 5... that makes me Gold, lol.

3 - Alaska: 1 NCL, 1 Princess, 1 Royal (worked really hard to make Alaska work this year)
1 - 4 Night Pacific Coastal: DCL
1 - 4 Night Halloween Bahamian: DCL (9/14 sail date. Just my luck)...

Scrambling to rebook everything over and over, but currently have booked:
1 - 4 Night Merrytime Bahamian: DCL
1 - 5 Night Western Caribbean: DCL
1 - 13 Night EBTA: DCL
1 - 7 Night Alaska: RCL

If this keeps up, we'll be part of the Platinum "Canceled-way" Cay club before ever making the real Platinum Club. Ha ha. I picked the absolute worst time to become addicted to cruising.
