Clever Autograph Ideas?

I have seen fun threads over the last year or so about ways to collect autographs that were quite clever.

By the end of our trip the autograph books (for two kids!) were in the bottom of the diaper bag and we just took pictures with characters instead.

I've heard the t-shirt idea, and that's cute (but you have to have it on a clipboard, right?) And what kind of pens would you use on it? I'm looking for a high-quality (non-sharpie) idea

I think it would be lots of fun to do squares of fabric and then make a quilt, but I don't know how realistic that would be - and what I'd put them on to have the characters sign them (especially those who stamp).

I'm sure this isn't a new idea but I purchased in advance multi colored 4"x6" notepads (non spiral) at Walmart and put the autographed sheets in a sturdy envelope I kept in the back of our stroller to keep them safe. Once we got home I made each of my kids a photo album w/ their pic with the character and then the autograph in the next sleeve. They look at their albums frequently and have taken them into school for share/show & tell days!

We did a light tan baseball cap last trip, my girls were 7 and 9 and they loved it. I only had to carry a sharpie and they wore the hat. Great to keep sun off head and easy to grab when we saw a character.

We got ours at the emporium on Main Street at MK so they were a double souvineer but you could bring one from home.

The autograph books sit on the shelf and were never looked at after the trip. The hats hang on a hook on the wall when not in use and are worn often.

They now have lots of colors in sharpies including sliver that will show on darker fabric. My dd's want to do a "bucket" or "fishing" type hat next time.

On one of our trips right after 9-11, we bought the American themed red, white, blue baseball in the little shop by the Hall of Presidents and had Mickey autograph it and now have it in one of those plastic baseball cube display things. Other than that, we've just done the autograph books. Oops almost forgot, a couple of the oversized Mickey and Minnie postcards, had Mickey and Minnie autograph them too.

I bought the bright coloured cardstock, and I'm going to have the characters autograph on that for my youngest (can't talk DD6 out of an autograph book). Then, like the poster above, we'll use the cardstock in our Disney scrapbook, so we'll see the signatures often. I think I'll punch the cardstock for a small binder to make it easier.

It's not new, but I agree, the autograph books get tucked away and never looked at again.

My DD's favorite stuffed animal - a teddy bear was falling apart - and on the drive down to WDW I was sewing a baby t-shirt over his tattred body to hold the stuffing in when inspiration hit - he was autographed by all the characters we saw that trip. I used a Sharpie pen. All the characters seemed to get a real kick out of autographing such a special bear - even more special now!

My DD9 bought the Mickey visor and had it signed. We also saw postcards to get auographed and mailed to family back home. On the airplane on the ride back, we saw a stuffed Mickey that had been signed. It was the cutest idea I saw.

My friend is going to disney for the first time with me and my family....she wants to get autographs...and me too..but we dont wanna just use the books..i was thinking about something that i can hang out my wall...nothing to big ..any ideas?

We used a baseball one year. Peter Pan and ds played catch with it, until Mary Poppins stopped them.

I'm not a scrapbooker but I saw some great Disney 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbook paper in a craft store recently that would be pretty cute autographed and then you could frame and hang up...alot smaller than a autographed poster would be. My daughter also got a special placemat at Chef Mickey for her bd last year that we had autographed and then framed it when we got home.

We just returned from the world last Friday and we did the T-shirts.... they turned out great too.

What we did to make it easier was to buy 2 cross stitch hoops... the circles you use to pull the material tight and they were $1 each.... we bought Crayola fabric markers and used those and the shirts turned out great!

* inspired by the baseball * get a ball from your child's fav. sport and have the characters sign it. it might be hard 2 get around the park but its just an idea......

you could get characters to sign unlined index cards (or use autograph book and rip pages out) and make a collage of the autographs (&/or pictures) using Disney paper as a background for a frame (that way you don't have to lug the Disney paper around). If you get a lot of autographs and they won't all fit in an 8x 11 frame, most craft stores sell 12x12 (square) paper and frames.....you can also use stickers and die-cuts in your collage....get creative!!

This will be the third time I've made our autograph books from unlined 4x6 cards printed with clip art of each character we might run into. We keep them alphabetized in a Mickey photo sleeve album (also 4x6). When we see a character, we flip to the name, take out the card, and get them to sign their "photograph." Most make a big deal out of seeing their own pictures, especially the ones who are more rare. Uncle Scrooge almost never got done hugging the children when he saw himself on that card. The villains really love this: Maleficent and the Snow Queen were together when we met them and they were trying to prove which one had the better picture.

The book is fun to flip through when waiting for shows or rides, to see all the ones we've found, and all the ones yet to meet.

When we get home, I take the signed ones out and scrap them next to the pictures of the kids with the characters or on pages devoted to that character's ride.

We've also gotten the Pluto autograph hound (he's about 20 inches long) onsite and taken him around. After several days on our trip, he got very full of signatures, so it was a running gag when a character took him and turned him all over trying to find a blank spot. He has a "leash" that lets you carry him like a purse. He is very lightweight, and with a sharpie, you don't have to worry about him getting wet. The fabric is very sturdy but easy to write on. Tweedledee and dum will always sign his hiney upside down, by the way. And Cinderella is a space hog. She wrote so big and with so many curlies many of the characters made a fuss over how much room she had taken up throughout the trip.

He hangs from my daughter's bedpost and is a very cute souvenier.

I love this idea!!! I hope you dont mind if I steal it and use it for our next trip.

Now I will just have to figure out how to print the clip art on the 4x6 cards. Once I find clip art for all the characters.

Part of the fun is picking out which picture you like best. All I do for getting them printed is insert them into a Word document with my margins set at 4 x 6 and with a page break between each one. I print the first one to make sure it is centered like I want it, and then print the whole batch with the stack of index cards instead of paper.
