clearwater which hotel marriot or hilton

for 2 nights in june

hilton is £148 for 2 nights

marriot is £139 for 2 nights

i like the fact u can see dolphins from your hotel room in the marriot
but i would prefer to be where there is stuff going on.
how easy is it to travel on the bus to the centre of clearwater as the pier there sounds great at night

and our bad is the building work here

Not really the right person to advise on this but tell you my thoughts anyway.
We stayed at The Hilton Clearwater just after it had been taken over from DoubleTree. It was just OK nothing special. staff were stuck up and not friendly at all. Only restaraunt we have ever walked out of, not sure but I think it was $29.99/ head, sat at our table had a drink then went to get some food, it was rubbish, 1 piece of beef smaller than I cook at home, a few shrimp and some salad and veg. I paid for drinks and left and told them what I felt.
This is a view from a few years back now ( see in my list below when it was) hopefully it has changed, we also had bad weather and did not like Clearwater, Everything is in Orlando for us and was a mistake to do the coast we just are not beach holiday people.
Dont know the Marriott in Clearwater but I would choose Marriott over Hilton any day, Marriotts we have stayed in have had free inroom wireless internet and all non smoking rooms. Never been impressed with Hilton.
Hopefully someone will reply with a recent stay at either hotel.

Hi we did the hilton last november (got married their) Loved it!!
It was quite season so the nightlife is basicaly eating out, nice restautrants within walking distance, we rode out to other areas & were glad we picked where we were, pier 60 is lovely, beach lovely, hilton restaurant - expensive but we had a lovely wedding meal (off the normal menu). Not done the marriott - i sugest do your research & go with your gut feeling
