Hi Guys..

Been a while had a really busy few months with home and work life..

Looking at doing something a little different this year in Florida.. :)

Could anybody recommend nice hotel in clearwater or St Petes but that dosent cost the earth
Other problem we are looking at staying there over Labor day weekend 30/8 for 3 nights so not much showing online... :confused3

:thumbsup2

We stayed at St.Pete. last September in the Alden Beach Hotel, the hotel wasn't luxurious just basic really but was great for us for a couple of days, our room had 2 double beds in it and then a separate kitchen/lounge looking straight out onto the beach:cloud9: there was a beach bar that we didnt use :headache: and also a hot tub and a swimming pool there.
we booked through expedia. If you do go, take a small drive to Johns Pass, and check out the locals fishing do some shopping etc, its a lovely place, have a drink at sculleys on the boardwalk! :thumbsup2 We went on a Dolphin tour which we booked for $20 at one of the tour shops there, a tip is to just go down to the jetty and pay there as its $5 cheaper each.
Next time we go we plan on staying at the Tradewinds resort.

Yeah a lot of the hotels we looked at last night looked very and dated apart from a few.. ill look at that hotel later.... Oh def will try Johns Pass sounds really nice and yes Winter is the whole reason for going there too :thumbsup2

We stayed at Tradewinds at St Pete's in 2007 and although in the Virgin brochure it was I think a 4 star it was very basic compared to WDW.
The room and bathroom were fairly big but the bugs were out in force there compared to WDW - cockroaches in the bathroom yuck.
We had great service in the hotel itself but the beach bar etc. were rude rude rude.
Definitely not worth the money and to be honest put us off the area altogether.

Most hotels are basic unless you pay mega bucks. Don't let that experience put you off going again, there is so much to see and do in this area.

bump...

Sorry All.. Still struggling with Hotels for Clearwater.. Anybody know anywhere to try?

Cheers
