I know it's not exactly Orlando, but we are planning a few days in the clearwater/st pete area after Universal. We have almost 1 milion Hilton points to use, so I'm looking for a Hilton property in that area. I'd love to stay at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa but all the rooms are double beds and there is no way I'm sleeping with anyone else in a double bed lol. The rooms with Kings and a sleeper sofa are almost 300k points a night. So other than that, does anyone have any good Hilton properties they'd recommend in that area? I do want it to be on the beach, or within a few min walk.

We’ve stayed at the doubletree. It’s technically in north redington, but it’s on the same stretch of beach on gulf road as the Hilton. I totally don’t get why fancy hotels have double beds. I won’t share them either.

Try the Hampton on Clearwater Beach I think they only have Queen or King beds but anything near or around the beach is probably going to be on the pricy side plus hotels directly on the beach can sometimes be noisy if your willing to drive a short distance might want to look at something in the Clearwater/Largo area Might find a better deal but the beach does charge for parking so you may want to look into using something like Jolly trolley which makes stops on the beach and saves on parking There is also the Suncoast Beach Trolley that runs all way to St Pete Beach and back to downtown Clearwater you can get off at bunch of different beaches along the way I think the Trolley is about 5 per person for an all day pass I know there is a Hilton Garden Inn on St Pete Beach but I have no idea what they charge or what kind of beds they offer good luck

I think this is where I'm going to end up at. How did you like it?

The DoubleTree on Redington Beach is better value It is located about 30 minutes away from the Hilton on Clearwater Beach The only issue you may experience is that other than a few restaurants ,mostly bar like places (use the pizza shop for delivery or take out the place is very small inside and can get crowded at lunch time) a couple of gift shops and a candy store besides the beach there isn't much else there unless you want to drive or use the trolley system and I would suggest if you can get a room facing the beach side sometimes the traffic noise from the main road can be an issue for some people They will also add on 15 a night for parking but any place on the beach will most likely add extra to park

It’s nice. It’s small and doesn’t have a lot of restaurant, but it’s right on the beach and not far from restaurants and shops. Make sure you go to the candy kitchen for ice cream.

You should save your Hilton points for foreign travel.
Can stay at the best hotels in foreign cities for the same cost as a Hampton Inn in clearwater.

You could literally stay for 6 nights for that same 300K at the
Hagia Sofia Mansions Istanbul, Curio Collection by Hilton

I have no intrest in traveling to istanbul or internationally at all right now. And we will get more than enough hilton points over the next year to more than make up for what I'm spending on this trip. And even after this, I'll still have 1.7 million points left. But thanks for suggestons that aren't even in the same country as what I asked about.

Your loss.

Your loss.
I don't see how taking my kids on a vacation they asked for is a loss, but go ahead and judge. You do what you feel is best with your credit card points and I'll do what I feel is best with mine. I'm pretty sure when international travel is an option again for me I'll still have more than enough points to stay wherever the heck I want so...

Not sure why you are so hostile when you are getting free advice but like I said your loss.

because its annoying when I ask a specific question and people come on with "advice" that does not answer the question I asked in any way what so ever. Is istanbul in any way near Clearwater beach? Did I ask where people thought the best usage of hilton points was? No. I asked about a specific area. Why would I spend $300 a night for rooms when I can use points and not pay the fees or parking? Why would I "save" those points for trips I have no intention of taking when I have an abundance of points to begin with? Those points are the whole reason I can afford to take these trips as often as I can. Telling people not to use points where they want to use them becasue you think they should go to some other country is annoying.

It's not on the beach but I would try the Hampton on East Bay Drive in Largo You can get a Uber to the Clearwater beach for about 15 dollars It has free parking a decent free breakfast and is located right up the street from a Walmart They is also a park across the street One of the PSTA buses goes in front of the hotel into downtown and you buy the 5 day all passes for the buses and trollys when you board It's the same pass good on both they only take take cash and you will need exact change but once your in downtown it's the last stop you can get on any of the trollys to the beaches They say on the front where they can going or you can ask the drivers when you board and when you come back you need to go East Bay Drive and Missouri ave right after the light is Largo central park and on the other side is the Hampton You have to pull the cord to get back off the bus but it will drop you right across the street from the hotel

I'll keep that in mind for next time. I promised my kids we'd stay ON the beach this time. Also we'll have 8 of us and I'm trying to be more relaxed and less planning for this trip. I want to just get up, eat and bam beach lol.

I live in Tampa (25+ yrs) and if you want to stay right on the beach in Clearwater and need a Hilton property, Hilton Clearwater is it. But certainly understand not wanting to spend that on a room there (while updated, an older hotel). Having said that, I am not sure what time of year you are coming but Clearwater Beach, while a beautiful beach, is definitely the Spring Breakers beach in March and April. Not sure ages of your kids but we rarely go there bc even during non-Spring Break times it is a party beach and always has that type of crowd. North Reddington would have less of that crowd and then St Pete beach less than that. I would suggest Sarasota as those are the beaches we prefer in the area but no Hiltons directly beach in Sarasota (on intercoastal but not directly on beach). If you really wanted to drive further south, would recommend the Hilton Marco Island as we have stayed there and right on beach. More options for Hiltons on beach further south but not sure how far you want to drive.

I am a St Pete/Clearwater local. Do the Doubletree at Madeira Beach. I run this beach and past this hotel daily. It is a great place for a beach vacation. Clearwater Beach is wayyyyyy too touristy. I avoid it at all costs. Plan a day just down the street at Ft DeSoto.

Thanks for the info! We are coming at the end of may. The week before Memorial day. Kids will be 7-13 (4 boys). I need to know why that dang hilton in Clearwater only has double beds lol. Who wants to share a double bed with someone else? I love the look of that hotel and the location, but dang. Double beds.... Or a king with an adjoing room. Either way is super pricey even in points for that. I think we are leaning towards the Double tree in North Reddington. We are only there 3 full days. I know my kid wants to do a fishing excursion, if you have one you'd recommend that can handle 8 people.

We are tacking this on to a universal studios trip so coming from orlando and then looking to fly back from Tampa
