Let's see...I last left you off in EPCOT and we had completed our touring of the West Side of Future World. Yes, I did my homework since my last installment and looked it up and it is indeed the West Side of EPCOT. Now if I would only spend the time to use spell check but that's a different story. Anyway....let's move on...
It's time we head on over to the other side of Future world. I ran ahead and grapped FPs for Test Track and then met up with the others at Mission Space. Some of the braver souls in our group headed to the Orange Side. I sadly am not one of them. I am not a big fan of spinning rides. I can just about deal with something like the teacups ride but when done but I do not walk away feeling better for the experience. I'll suffer through it for the kids. Mission Space though is another story. I've never done the Orange side and I have seen enough comments to keep me scared enough to try it in fear of ruining me for a spell. Fortunately the kids do not want to experience it either just the other adults in our group. Anyway, we did need a responsible adult to stay with the kids on the Green side ....and since we couldn't find one I went instead.
One thing I would say about the Green side though is that I think it is too tame. There is nothing gong on there with spinning at all. I actually wish I could give you a lesser degree of spinning going on in the Green side so that I could at least get some idea what kind of trouble I would be in for on the grown up side.
I think it would also be more interesting if there were diferent outcomes based on whether your team is pressing the buttons correctly. There is not a lot of excitement in executing your assignments when it does not really matter if you do it or not.
After the ride the kids got caught up for a long time in the interactive play area which you are dumped into after the ride. There is an arcade like game there called "Mission: SPACE Race" that they got snared into. The game takes participants and divides them into 2 teams. They have a lot of room for participants, I think 30 per team, but when we did it there were not as many people staying to play and we had about 10-15 people per team. The teams race against each other to repair parts of a spacecraft. I did it once with the kids and it was fun. They wanted to play again when done but once was enough for me so I bowed out but the rest of our crew stayed and played again. They even played one more time after that. I think the game takes about 15 min so this experience drained a fair amount of time but the kids had a great time with it so it was all good. Here some pics I took while wandering around waiting for the kids to finish up.
Next up we had a "need for speed" and went to Test Track. The line was not bad at all so we went through twice. Once with our FPs and once without. The other road tests are ok but we're all here for the speed test aren't we? It's amazing how much faster 65 mph seems in your test track vehicle as opposed to a real car.
After our second spin on TT it was about 5 min to 5PM so we decided to make our way over to Canada to check in for our Le Cellier ADR at 5:35. So from 11:15 to 5:35 we saw most of Future World with the exception of the Circle of Life movie, Ellen's Energy Adventure and Innoventions East. That also included Lunch at Sunshine Seasons and 2 rides on Soarin and Test Track and a bunch of time in the Spaceship Earth interactive area. Sept is such a good time of year to go if you want to avoid large crowds. We have only been to Disney in late August, Sept and Oct and I think we have been spoiled. I don't think I could handle the peak summer times or the insane crowds like at Christmas time and Spring Break.
It's rare for us not to be rushing to get to our ADR so it was nice to be able to take a leisurely stroll to get to our ADR.
We got there at about 5:15 and checked in. I went off to take a picture of the waterfall while waiting.
We soon got into "the Cellar" and fortunately we found that this Cellar is nothing like mine otherwise people would be tripping over toys and cursing and erupting they are going to get a dumpster and throw everything out. I actually like the atmosphere of this cellar. Here is the only pic I took of the inside of Le Cellier. Sorry is does not really give you too much of an idea of what the inside space is like. Take my word for it. It is nice.
We had dined at Le Cellier on out last trip for lunch and we fell in love with the the pretzel bread, the family thought the famous Cheese soup was ...eh..ok. The steaks were good but did not really knock our socks off and I was not quite seeing all the hype. However my family was requesting it again this trip even though I wanted to try somewhere else so it made a good enough impression on them. So I reserved it again this trip. In retrospect, I am glad we did since this may be the last time we go for Dinner (at least on the meal plan). Now hold on a sec, it was not because the food was not good or the experience was bad (on the contrary it was better than last time) but it is due to the change over to 2 meal credits now on the Dining Plan. I think I would opt for other places if I wanted to eat at a 2 credit restaurant.
I think we all ordered some cut of steak. It may be a requirement there otherwise you are shunned. I ordered the NY strip but without any butter on it. Here is a pic.
It would be nice if they gave you some type of vegetable but we ordered some on the side.
Ok, so where did this fall within my ratings. Well, let me tell you this was an outstanding steak this time. This was much better than our lunch the prior year. I am not sure if was better because the lunch steak is generally not as good as the dinner steak or if now that they are going down the 2 creit route they stepped it up a notch or what but I came out very satisfied.
I now have a new a leader in my steak ratings from this trip (remember that). Here are the new standings....
1. Le cellier
2. Sharks Underwater Grill
3. Kona
4. Turf Club (pretty close with Kona)
5. WCC
We have one more horse in the running with dinner at the Coral Reef dinner our next day.
After dinner my plans were to head to the MK for the MAin Street Electrical Parade and then Wishes. The kids were not up with it but my fortunately my Wife was. So, the kids stayed with their cousins (and Aunt and Uncle) and my wife and I headed to MK.
We will pick up from there in our next installment.
