I have the BOB duallie and I do love it and that is a good price. I really don't know much about any other high end strollers though so my opinion is one sided. I believe the single and the double share the same features. What I love is how easy it is to steer. Truly you only need one finger. You can lock and unlock the front wheel easily if you are a runner. I do know that a lot of serious runners use these. I am not. It seems comfortable to my boys. Now some not so wonderful things, and they're minor. It is a little heavy and it will take 2 hands to fold. But it is easy to do. Also the bottom basket doesn't hold a huge amount. Like most high end strollers they nickel and dime you for every add on. The parents cup holder is $20 and I believe the infant car seat adapter is a little pricey.
All in all, I do love this stroller and wouldn't trade it. But my stroller needs are certainly different from yours as I live in the suburbs of Mississippi and you live in NJ. My sister lives in Hoboken. Are you close? She says they have tons of high end strollers on craigs list. Have you tried looking there? My biggest specific complaint is to the width of the dual stroller so that won't affect your decision. Hope this helps a bit.
