Cleaning your "house" before you leave?

We often give unopened food away to arriving guests. Our first trip, someone came out and gave us a nearly full package of Eskimo Pie ice cream bars that they had not had time to eat. Since then, we have passed that forward by offering our unopened left overs to people we see arriving.

I pile up the dirty towels in the bathroom. Load the diswasher and turn it on as we leave. We drive in so we take everything back with us that we don't use. I did, however, once give a box of popsicles to the kids next door. They don't travel well!

We do not strip the beds.
We collect all towels and put them in the tub.
Clean out refrig.
Collect garbage.
Load dishwasher - and turn on before we leave.
I like the idea of giving unopened food items to someone else.

:cool1: :cool1:

same as the above.:)
but we ask the first ppl we see in the hall the day before we leave if they want the bottled water (i don't know why we always buy a case & only drink a few bottles :confused3 ), sealed milk & munchies, etc.
haven't had anyone say "no" yet:thumbsup2

the liquid detergent & softener goes in the laundry room with a "take me" note.

it was my understanding that mousekeeping was not allowed to take items left in a room, even with a note offering them (as per other posters)

When we stayed at POR one year, I was outside when the maids' golf cart left for the day. The maids had strollers, fans, balloons, etc. on the carts with them. They had their purses with them so I think they were leaving for the day and not just going from one buliding to the next or to Lost and Found. So I assume they get to keep some things.

Imagine their garage sales. ;)

I pile the towels in the tub. We check the W/D and strip the beds - to make sure we don't leave socks or other "stuff" behind in the bedding. We found a small load of socks, a T-shirt and nightwear in our dryer when we arrived on our last trip - I called the desk and told them. Some little person got home without a Mickey shirt. So check your dryer before you leave! I leave unopened food with a note for housekeeping.
