Cleaning the Hot Tub

Quick question before I hit to road tomorrow am...

I saw several posts about how people had cleaned the Hot Tub in the rooms... something about diswasher soap?

Can somebody please provide me with a link to that discussion, or tell me what the method was???

I used washing up liquid and one of the wee yellow scouring pads that mousekeeping leave. thought they were hard to clean unless you had arms a mile long

I use the diswasher detergent that is provided for the diswasher.

feel a bit better Deb after reading the above. we were really rushed to get out for 11 on the last day due to the things that need doing for our DS that we could have left the place tidier. + mousekeeping had starting chapping to get in at 9.30. felt really bad. left a biggish tip which I hope would have helped. this was one of the negative things we found when hiring a villa was doing the laundry and cleaning especially on the last day we struggled to get it all done so part of staying at the DVC was to eleviate all the cleaning especially when you are on holiday .

That's our approach also, however

I think most posters who clean the jacuzzi fill the tub with hot water add the dishwasher soap or tablet and let it run for awhile, then drain, refill and rinse with plain water or water and a little bleach thrown in. They are referring to doing this prior to using it, I believe, rather than before they leave the villa. We don't do any major cleaning before we leave other than taking out the trash, cleaning the food out of the fridge and wiping up any that has spilled etc., and piling all the towels in one area. If we have used the sofa bed we leave it open that day so they know to replace the linens.

Thanks for all the info regarding cleaning the hot tub. We just returned a few days ago from OKW and had never before thought of cleaning the hot tub jets(till reading the boards), but I'm now a firm believer in this practice. Black Junk came out after running the dishwasher tabs and bleach.

I 'm generally not an overly cleaning person, but this is one habit that will be in practice any time we visit anywhere after what I saw come out of the tub jets.

OKW was very beautiful by the way for all you OKW'ers out there. You have a lovely home, but can't wait to get back to SSR in the fall.
