Cleaning Products that REALLY Work...

Is there something that gets red stains out of carpets and if so where can I get it? My daughters decided to put kool aid on their hair in the bathroom. :rolleyes1

Hey, has anyone tried the swiffer duster? There a couple of brands out and I would like to know which one really works well at picking up the dust, not just pushing it around. :teeth:

I use the Swiffer Wet Jet on all my tile, it works great!

I've got the big Swiffer dust mop as well, and it's perfect for inbetween wet mopping for hair and dust and such. It definitely works great for dusting floors, and picks up dust, hair, and other little "stuff" with no problem.

I also use the Swiffer dust cloths for all my dusting--they are so soft--perfect if you've got Disney cels and colelctibles! They pick up the dust so well, and it's effortless.

The fluffy swiffer duster thingys are great! They really suck up the dust and hold on to it and they go in all the little crooks and nannys you can't get your hand into. Love those. The regular swiffer dusting cloths are great for cleaning your tv and computer screen. I never use glass cleaner anymore. I just dust it and then buff the fingerprints off with the same cloth.

I LOVE Clorox Bathroom Cleaner with Teflon! It works the best out of everything I have found! I just love it. :cool1:

Hi. I NEED a reallyyyyyyyy good toilet cleaner. HELP. :confused3

The best stuff I've ever found was ZEP Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I got it at Home Depot. It's a commercial grade cleaner. Before we moved into our house full time and were just using it for vacations, two of teh toilets ended up with terrible stains in them. I'm still not sure what the stains were from (lime?), but NOTHING would remove them. This stuff and some elbow grease took the stains out after a couple go-rounds. Regular grocery store type bowl cleaners wouldn't even begin to touch the stains.

That is a great tip! :thumbsup2

I too love Zout and Goo Gone... and I have recently been given a tip...

I live in a brownstone with hardwood floors throughout.. I have 3 cats.. one who is rather old.. well.. old cat and litter box do not always meet... and I was killing my hardwood floors with too many different cleaners... well a friend of mine who is a floor installer told me to clean my hardwood floors with NOTHING but warm water and White Vinegar... I tried it.. and Guess what.. it works! My floors sparkle like brand new again and no smells.. and no ammonia to attract further accidents like so many other cleaners out there! I guess my grandma was onto something.. she used to use White Vinegar to clean everything!

I have a VERY interesting PRODUCT for everyone to TRY....

FIRST ALL IT IS NOT A CLEANING PRODUCT BUT A NECESSITY JUST THE SAME...

The SOLUTIONS Catalog has this fab product called "JUST A DROP" and you put ONE drop, JUST one (hence the name) in the toilet BEFORE YOU (SORRY, MODS) you do #2 and BINGO BANGO no odor at all in your bathroom.

YES SIR, YES MA'AM!!! With my house 3 MALES, (DH & 2 DS') this has become my MIRACLE product of the entire MILLENNIUM....

One drop in the toilet BEFORE you go :thumbsup2 and it like coats the water with some miraculous shield that leaves the bathroom with NO ODOR!!!

Throw away those air freshner cones, throw away those air freshner sprays, throw away those candles and you will be AMAZED as well as HAPPY!!! :thumbsup2

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for cleaning soapscum off our glass shower door. I can't use strong chemicals because I get awful headaches from the fumes.

I love Resolve Dual Power carpet stain remover (the bottle with the dual chambers of liquid). We have one cat who sometimes gets sick and we could never get the stains out of the carpet. After going through many different brands, this is the only one that works. It even took out stains that were months old.

I have to agree. It works really well. My only peevers about it are that 1. it gets hard to equally squeeze both chanbers when th eliquid gets a little low and 2. You have to really be careful if you clean the carpet with your bare hands. The liquid can (and does) make your fingers white. The Oxy in it reacts with your skin. You can wash it off but it takes a long time (more than 15 minutes one time). I use gloves now on any big cleaning project.

I also want to add the Easy off oven cleaner for self-cleaning ovens. It's great and you can wipe off the mess. I use it on the parts of my ronco rotisserie. It cleans it right up. You spray, let sit for about 2 hours, and wipe. Great!

I can't wait to try Finazzle!

I love Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for soap scum in the tub--the soap scum practically peels off. What used to be a huge job with major elbow grease involved is now a quick 5-minute wipe--those things are amazing!

I've also used the Magic Erasers on the vinyl wallpaper in our kitchen, a stain on the bathroom wall caused by a magazine page sticking to a damp wall (NOTHING else worked), a black mark on the wall at the top of a stairway caused by a wrought iron candle screen rubbing against the white wall (again, NOTHING else did the job), and various other places.

I use gloves for all cleaning except dry dusting. I have two sets, one for dishes, and another for all other cleaning. It really does make a big difference with your hands.

Back to the carpet cleaner--does the OXY discolored the carpeting?

And does anyone actually own their own carpet steam cleaner? What brand and would you buy it again?

Anne (Who has white carpets :guilty: )

What does everyone use to clean grill grates. I have a brillo type thing that I use to scrape burnt stuff off, but it really needs a good cleaning. FIL told me to put them in the oven and do the self clean. :confused3

The oxy can discolor the carpet. They say that you should try it in an inconspicuous spot 1st. I have light beige carpet so there's not much to discolor there ;)

Dawn Dishwashing liquid and a power washer.

Not really a cleaning product, but a good idea. When we had our shower door installed, the installer suggested that we spray the glass with Rain-x. It really does work at keeping the soap scum off the glass. :thumbsup2 BTW, it should be re-applied every 6 weeks or so.
