What does everyone use to clean their laminate flooring? We have been using the Swiffer Wet Jet and are not happy with the results.

i got one of those microcloth things to dust it.
i have used mop and glow.. thats a no no LOL
i have used vinigar... makes it cloudy
i found this stuff called orange glo at walmart.. so far so good :)
i want a shark though.. santa forgot mine this year.

I bought a Villeda cloth mop with a replacable cloth. I bought an extra cloth so one can be in the washer and I can use the other.

I spray the floors with a product I use for the daycare called Lemon Quat. It is sold at a Janitor's Supply. It was about $15 CAN for a large bottle (maybe 4L) and you have to water it down 1:64 so it last a long time. The Lemon Quat is a disinfectant, I also use it to wash the tables and the toys.

LOL what a process. some days I wish I had carpet again.

I have a large terry cloth dust broom that I bought at Dollar General (Mr Clean brand, with replaceable heads, I have a couple of spares so I can wash them). So first I sweep.

Then I use a Hoover Floor mate. I use Mr. Clean in the solution tank.

It leaves the floors too wet, so I use an old towel to dry the floors so they don't streak.

Then I use a product I bought at walmart, but you can also get it on Amazon. You squirt it on the clean floor, then I use a clean head on the dust broom to "mop" it. Once it dries it is sooo pretty. And it hides the nicks, scratches, etc.

It's a lot of work (we have about 600 sq ft of Pergo) and I wish I could say I did it every week, but I don't. A few days a week we use the floor mate to get them clean (two kids..need I say more). They just don't shine like they could all the time...but then again two kids live here :lmao:

I use two different things.

The first is Pergo brand laminate cleaner. I can only find it at Home Depot. Works great. I use a old Swiffer but attach a microfiber cloth.

The second thing I have discovered is Glass Plus. This is the only glass cleaner I have found that doesn't streak. I think it's different than Windex. I use the swiffer with microfiber towel.

With both I just spray some on the floor and wipe up with the cloth.

I too use a laminate cleaner made by Bruce. I bought it at Home Depot or Lowes - cant remember! I originally used vinegar, but after a while the floor did just not look as clean. I have been using this bottle of laminate cleaner spray for about 4 months and it is still about 1/2 full. Since it is a spray, you dont use as much. I also use a microfiber cloth mop. The extra cost has been well worth it to me!;)

I mop with vinegar and water. That's what I use on my tile floors too. Doesn't leave any film.

My whole house is laminate except for the kitchen and bathrooms and sometimes I feel like that. The floors stay so dirty with visible dirt, etc that I need to sweep quite a bit. But then I realize that that same dirt and grime was there before hiding in the carpet:scared1: and I am glad I can get rid of it with a broom and occasional mopping.

I have tried all kind of things, including a steam mop. I found that left the floor too wet, which is not good for laminate. For now, I use windex, but I may try the Holloway House stuff that was linked to in a PP.

I have tried so many things. Everything would leave a film on the floor. I use to get so aggravated. The floor looked ok until you walked on it then it looked awful. So, my mom told me to try vinegar and water. I put it in a spray bottle. It works great. That's the way to go. IMO

I use either my Shark steam mop or Method floor cleaner. I love the smell of Method and it does not streak.

I have had the best luck with ammonia. I have Pergo floors and was told to use ammonia/water to clean and I never have water spots or cloudy films. Sometimes I use Murphy's soap in water asa well, but it leaves a slight residue that I don't like. So ammonia works the best. Used it for almost 10 years on my hall/kitchen floors, and they look like new.:goodvibes

Wow, I can't imagine doing that process for our 1300 sq ft! I bet they look great though.

I have a dog and 2 kids so swiffer wet mops are the best my floors get most of the time. The kids can even help out with a shortened mop.

I second this one. Bruce floor cleaner is great!

I use vinager, water & alcohol. One cup each in a spray bottle. It works GREAT! My entire house is laminate...except the bathrooms & laundry room. I also have a dust mop that I use about 1 time a day.

More vinegar and water here. refill my swiffer wet jet with vinegar and water and use microfiber cloths to cut costs. Or just a bucket, hands and knees.

I have tried everything-cleaners, swiffers, vinegar, etc. The thing that works the absolute best is the Bissel Steam Mop. After a while, the pad does get saturated and starts leaving a little too much water on the floor, so I keep an old towel to dry up any excess water as I go. I'm telling you though, nothing cleans like steam on laminate.
