I need help deciding on a place to stay the first night of our trip. I've made reservations in Disney for the rest of our stay ... but after making the reservations I found out that we'll be able to go down a day earlier. :cheer2: I've been calling each and every morning trying to add that extra day, but the value resorts are all booked up. :confused3 (I am going down for work and have a strict budget for what they'll pay for the hotel ... I don't want to add my own $$ to the hotel bill, so it has to be 'value' resort range ... please don't suggest an upgrade to a more expensive resort type. I also absolutely need to be 'on-site' because I'll have to take the van to drive several places for work some days and the rest of our group will need to be on the Disney property to take advantage of their transportation (plus we just 'want' to stay on-site, even if it has to be 'Value' class *lol*) I'll continue calling, but I'm trying to make a back-up plan incase a couple of days before we leave, I still haven't been able to add that first night and need to make an off-site reservation.

I've been browsing the threads on this forum, but I think, I'm more confused now than when I started. I've also looked at some of the other sites mentioned such as tripadvisor and epinons ... and I'll continue to research, but any help would be appreaciated. I find the 'ratings' and reviews people give are often less than helpful in this situation because some reviewers seem to be rating some 'two star' locations based on criteria for much nicer resorts ... I wan the room to be CLEAN ... but other than that, I'm really not worried about whether they provide optimum toiletries or the TV is old or new or if a video game system is available in the room or the hallway carpet is tasteful or gawdy. Know what I mean?

We'll be driving down and it will probably be late evening or maybe even night-time when we arrive, and we plan to leave as early in the morning as possible to go to WDW. So all we need is a clean place to sleep ... not worried about amenities or the pool or anything 'extra' for this first night ... just a clean place to sleep and shower. Complimentary breakfast would be nice but it's not a necessity.

So ... based on the criteria of CLEAN, reasonably near WDW, and cheap ... Any recommendations?

Some possibilities I've found on Orbitz and Expedia include:

Days Inn Orlando
Rodeway Inn Maingate
Howard Johnson Maingate
Econo Lodge Hawaiian Resort
Travelodge Maingate East

Thanks!
Elaine

I almost stayed in Rodeway Inn once - this site offers a good rate (but look on the home site of this hotel first) -

the reason I changed my mind - is this too close to US 192 - a very busy section of it - for me to allow my cat near it.

Now if you don't have an animal or anything else that might get away from you and run into the street.

clean rooms this place has - they allowed me to see the ones that were vacany.

adults and older kids should be fine here - you can even walk to a few restuarants - but I wouldn't put pets or little kids (under the age of 7) - because you can't alway predict what the little ones will do - this is a 6 lane highway (3 lanes on each side)....

that is reason I picked some place else - not because I didn't like the hotel.

sometimes LaQuinta Lakeside offers some deals.

Thanks Pat! I appreciate the 'first hand' input!

I've been checking out HotelKingdom and am very interested in the 2 bedroom villa at Cypress Pointe ... since there are 3 adults and 3 kids in our party, it looks like a Villa might be less expensive than 2 motel rooms, even cheap ones! *lol* But, I'm wondering if it can really be rented for just one night? I thought properties such as villas and condos usually required a minumum of at least 2 if not more night's stay. Anyway, I've e-mailed them ... so hopefully I'll hear back soon.

I'll keep the motel info in mind though if the Villa doesn't work out.

:flower3: Elaine

If you do go the motel route -the tripadvisor website has reviews on the places you listed - you might look at those before you book!

I have been checking out the comfort inn Lake Buena Vista on Palm Parkway to stay one night before checking in onsite. I have stayed at a few comfort inns and they are pretty nice. They also give you a free continental breakfast. 192 does get busy as the day progresses but if you stay near the arabian nights it is very close to I-4 which is the road you would take to get to WDW.

Last Feb we stayed at the Doubletree in Downtown Disney. Not the suites, the inn. (It has a big pineapple on it)

Now I'm not sure exactly what the price was b/c we booked a package through expedia, but including air from NY it was only like 230 a person (3people). So I couldn't imagine it being that much a night.

They give you a paper in the morning and warm cookies when you check in. VERY CLEAN! They say its within walking distance to Downtown Disney but its not the closest of the DD hotels. Its actually right on the end. I would stay there again if I was looking for a cheap retreat.

Hope this helps.

Just wanted to let you know that you can book just one night at Cypress Pointe. This may be the cheapest option, and overall , the reviews seem to be good.
Good luck!

Thanks Everyone!

The Doubletree is coming up as $129 per night :guilty: ... so it's out (at least for this trip).

It looks like Cypress Pointe may be our best bet! :cheer2: Lisa, do you know if they add on a 'maid service' or cleaning fee or anything extra if you only stay one night? I've e-mailed them to ask, but they haven't responded.

Thanks!
Elaine

Hi Elaine,

I think another post may have already answered your question...you do not have to pay for maid service for 1 night.

Happy planning!
Lisa

Thanks Lisa!

I made my reservation ... but the $70-ish villa at Cypress Pointe was no longer available since I waited over 24 hours and they had not e-mailed me back with a response to a simple question. So I went with the $95 Villa at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas Disney. (From what I could tell it's a little closer to Disney maybe?) But in the 'comment' section of my on-line reservation, I asked if I could 'downgrade' to the other location if it became available. I don't know if they'll consider my request or not, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.

It's still less than two 'motel' rooms ... and probably much much nicer ...but it bugs me that waiting for them to respond to my e-mail has 'cost' me an extra $20. Oh well ... maybe a soak in the jacuzzi tub will make up for it?!?!?

I have stayed at the comfort inn at lake buena vista on palm parkway. It is not too bad. You are within a mile or less. have stayed here on 1st night several times.

you've booked so you're probably sorted, but just wanted to say no to the hojo maingate (I used to love it, but it's getting a bit tired and it just doesn't feel like 'home' anymore - and they didn't give back my boyfriends bill bryson book that we accidently left in the room when we checked out - even though we realised the next day) and if the econolodge hawaiin is waaaaaaaay down 192 (something like number 2000) I hated every second of it. I'm now converted to comfort suites maingate west, very clean, lovely warm pool and breakfast!!!
