Help..I have some of the basics on my IPod but I want more..
Can any of yu tell me some must have Classical or Opera songs.

sibelius symphony 5 and violin concerto. these are kind of...hard...like concrete is hard not like calculus. what mood are you looking for?

I put these on mine:

Brandenburg Concerto-Bach
Vivaldi's Four Seasons
Soundtrack from Amadeus (Mozart)

I also picked up a 2 CD collection called Classical Chillout which has a great selection of classical music used in movies.

I have some of the basics but I want more..

Holst Jupiter and Mars.
Faure's Requiem
Mozart's Requiem (these are choral pieces)
Dvorak Symphony for (or from) the New World
Mozart piano concerti are nice. Most are upbeat. #20 is in a minor key so the sophisticates like it better than the others.
Beethoven's 5th symphony is worthwhile once you get past the opening bars.

I'll stop posting on this thread now.

Let me tell you what I have
Ode To Joy
Moonlight Sonata
Beethovan's 5th Symphony
William tell Overture
Nessun Dorma
La Donna E Mobile
Beethovan's 9th Symphony
Mozart Piano C0ncerto 23 Adagio
Marriage of Figaro
Cannon in D
Vivaldi -Four seasons

Air, on a G-string, by Bach

One of my favorites is Mozart's Piano Concerto #22 with Mitsuko Uchida playing the piano.:thumbsup2 I think she has her own website, check it out if you're interested.

Mozart's The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro (operas ).

I like some of Aaron Copland's work.

Great choices all. The operas listed are really good choices if you are not yet "into opera", especially "Figaro" and the Magic Flute. You might also like Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti and Don Giovanni as well as Rossini's Barber of Seville and L’Italiana in Algeria. Also other must have IMO, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, one of his last complete works before he died, is often thought to be one of the world's "perfect" musical works. Beautiful. His last 3 symphonies as well, 39, 40, and 41 (the "Jupiter"). My favorite Beethoven symphony is the 7th. Also Beethoven's Violin Concerto, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and Eduard Lalo's Symphoie Espanol (actually a violin concerto) are amazing. You might like one of the albums by Joshua Bell (violinist) along the "best of" line as well as similar collections by Cellist Yo-yo Ma. Check out the great album called "Hush" by Yo-Yo Ma AND Bobby McFerrin. Incredible.

I have all three of the Maria Callas *La Davina* CDs on my iPod. You can't go wrong there. Wow.

Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto is breathtaking.

Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante defunte" (pavane for a dead princess)
