This actually doesn't have much to do with World Showcase as that's hardly changed...but "Future" world has practically been entirely changed since it opened

Classic Epcot:
Horizons
World of Motion
Journey into Imagination (with Dreamfinder)
Universe of Energy
Spaceship Earth w/Walter Cronkite
Wonders of Life

Modern Epcot:
Test Track
Mission: Space
Journey Into Imagination (with just Figment)
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Soarin'
Spaceship Earth w/Jeremy Irons

EDIT: Forgot about Wonders of Life

Coming from a Disney fanatic and very regular guest since 1989 I love and miss the classic EPCOT. But, family and friends explain to me how the future back then is the present or past now. And, I have no choice but to except the changes. But, I keep the classic EPCOT alive in stories and by not forgetting where it started. I miss the old rides and Illuminations bad!!!!

I really loved the classic Epcot, but I also like Soarin' and MissionSpace so I'm not sure what I would pick if it had to be all classic or all new.

I disagree with that, especially when it comes to Horizons

I am torn with this. Can I split this up? I prefer Spaceship Earth with Cronkite and JII with Dreamfinder but I also love MS, TT, and Soarin is the best ride in all of WDW IMO. Yet, I love Horizons and World of Motion. Heck, I'm a geek. I love Wonders of Life and I wish they would open it back up.

Yes, EPCOT is my favorite park!!

Overall I probably like more of the modern Epcot better than the classic Epcot. However I wish some of the old versions of rides still existed.

You must mean Horizons being the present or past?

not sure what you mean....Horizons had space colonies, under-sea cities, fully automated farms and other stuff we haven't even come close to seeing yet

I'm a big nostagia buff when it comes to Disney. I still can't watch Walt Disney: One Man's Dream without getting a little misty-eyed. But I have to say I prefer Modern Epcot to Classic Epcot.

I think Universe of Energy is infinitely better after Ellen and Bill Nye were added. And while I love Walter Cronkite and enjoyed hearing him on Spaceship Earth, I prefer the Jeremy Irons version - perfection, IMO. :goodvibes

Yes, I wish Horizons and World of Motion were still around, and I wish they'd reopen Cranium Command and the rest of Wonders of Life. But when I compare those to Soarin' and Mission: Space, modern Epcot is the clear winner for me.

WOW, talk about a tough question!!! I'm kinda with a couple of other people: I LOVED JII with Dreamfinder (the new one just isn't as much fun!), but I also LOVE Soarin'!!!! What a FABULOUS ride!!! SE is great either way. I miss World of Motion and Horizons (I BARELY remember Horizons--but I remember truly loving it!!) But I also love the updated UofE with Ellen and Bill Nye. I'm a sap!!

New Epcot, without a doubt. But, I have three young children. Previously it was a 1/2 day park. Now it is something they enjoy all day long.

Modern Epcot for me. I went to Epcot a couple of times back in the 80's with my family on vacations, but living so close to Disney and going so often, today's Epcot is what I associate with. My kids LOVE Soarin', Mission Space, and the Maelstorm, and Test Track.

I very much prefer the modern Epcot. The experiences of Soarin. and TT are far superior to what the classic Epcot offered (IMO). Cronkite vs. Irons... I have no preference. Call me wierd, but actually like JIYI w/F just how it is.

Modern Epcot. However, I am glad they are putting the ride back in the Living Seas - Finding Nemo. I hate what they have done to that attraction. (Other than Turtle talk of course).

I think classic Epcot felt a bit more cohesive to me, and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe it's just because the originals all were introduced at the same time. :p

Things I miss from classic Epcot:

Communicore - I loved making dinner reservations over the two way TV.

Kitchen Kabaret ("Veggie veggie fruit fruit") and the later incarnation, Food Rocks (Cher fish rules!).

The mac and cheese in the Land's food court.

"Let's listen to the land we all love..."

Living Seas ride

"It's fun to be free..."

The orange grove smell in Horizons, and choosing desert, sea or space.

I could go on for a bit here, but I won't.

Something I don't miss:

The old Universe of Energy. I swear there were drugs in the mist effect because I literally fell asleep every single time I rode that thing. I remember NOTHING.

I like both Classic and Modern Epcot. If I could take my favorites from the classic and mix them with my favorites from the modern, Epcot would be the perfect park.

I also like both the classic and modern EPCOT. I just wish they could have expanded FW to fit all of it! The great thing about the new Epcot is the rides, of course! But! The best thing about the old EPCOT, besides being what I remember as a child, was how inspiring it was. FW used to really be a place to examine our history and think of where we were going in the world. As a child it made me think I wanted to grow up to be an astronaut, desert farmer, marine biologist, archaeologist and all sorts of other things. I just don't get that feeling from the newer attractions and its a shame because I am sure that if Walt knew that EPCOT was not going to end up being his "Community of tomorrow" he would at least want it to challenge people to look ahead and see the possibilities of tomorrow. Just my two cents.

I miss the classic but am getting used to the modern. I do have some DVD's that contain my favorites - original imagination, horizons, spaceship earth w/walter (pm me if you want to know where I got them). But you know what I miss most... the songs. Every pavilion had a song or two that helped you relive the experience in your head. I'm glad they brought back a version of the imagination song and I love the music in Soarin. But the rest of the original songs are gone.
