Classic board games...

Has anyone seen any black friday deals on basic classic board games (Monopoly, Life, Battleship)?

My eyes are tired and hurting from flipping thru all these dang online BF ads the last 2 days and I'm just done. LOL

Target has 20% board games starting today.

I had to buy some a few weeks ago. For some classic games, the Target store near me only had fancy, more expensive versions rather than the basic version. Same at walmart - some games were only a travel version which was more expensive.

the wooden ones are more expensive but i have to say that depending on your decor they are cool to leave out (and then they actually get played with). i got the connect 4 wooden edition last year and it's been played more than any game in years (grabbed the wooden barrel of monkeys this year). they do go on sale and end up being comparably priced to the non sale priced regular versions.

Check Amazon. Not sure about regular versions, but we just got Monopoly Jr. for half off.

Thanks! Yes! My SIL specifically requested the "basic, classic" versions for my nephews. Everything in stores is "Disney Edition" or with electronics or whatever.

I feel like I used to be able to find the basic board games on sale for $7-$8 so I was hoping for $10 or less but it looks like $11-14 is the best I'm finding. That's fine. I buy them gift cards to get to a certain $ spend, so I will spend the same no matter what. I just wanted to get them as much as I could for the $.

I have seen commercials that 5 Below has games on sale. Not sure what they are, but you might check them out.

Yeah, you're not going to find any classic games there. I saw knock off connect 4, games connected to cartoons and just weird ones no one wants to buy.

Target had a "Rustic" version of some games. Sometimes they also had a basic version, sometimes not.
Wal-Mart had a "Road trip" version of some games. Sometimes they also had a basic version, sometimes not.

It could be tricky if you don't know what you're looking for, because you might not realize that there is a "basic" version and buy the expensive version by mistake.

I priced out some games 2 weeks ago. Here are a few examples.

Life:
Target: $13.39
Walmart: $13.44
Amazon: $19.99

Battleship:
Target Rustic version: $29.99 (no regular version in the store near me)
Walmart Road Trip version: $14.97
Walmart basic version: $11.92
Amazon: $11.50

Sorry:
Target Rustic version: $24.99
Target basic version: $9.99
Walmart Road Trip version: $14.97
Walmart basic version: $8.77
Amazon: $8.77

I did look in Five Below, but as PP said they did not carry classic games. Just weird ones which were not on my list.
