Holy moly do I need some help!
I'm going to make an Alice costume for MHP here in California and I need some help on the construction.
I'm doing Classic Alice as she is seen in the parks roaming with the Mad Hatter, I thought about doing Mad T Party Alice but that's a project for another year.
What I need help with is the petticoats.

That gap at the top where you pretty much see bloomers between the dress and the petticoats is what has me stumped.
I don't see any hoops, so no hoops that I'm aware of.
But what is that six layers? And how are the petticoats holding on? Should I make it go up to the wait all the way or should I do it how it looks in the picture and have it hold on with a number of strips so the waist?
I just don't know and haven't decided.
Oh, and if anyone knows what kind of fabric it's actually made of that would be a big help too and would save me hours at Joann's. I have everything else pretty much figured out and have about a month to spit this puppy out so any help would be absolutely fantastic.
