Ok...planning DS's class holiday party and getting to the goody bags. I got the .39 legos at Target awhile back. But now I am struggling to find something for the girls. I don't have enough for the whole class, so thought I would break it up. I wish I had bought the squinkies at 10 for 10 at TRU last week, but I didn't. Could kick myself now! Anyone have any suggestions? Trying to keep it as cheap as possible, but still in line with the legos for the boys.

I'm a class parent too. I got the LEGO for everyone - boys and girls - but I've been wondering if I should reconsider. Is there a Five Below near you? They have some great things, and so does Dollar Tree.

Being a teacher, I am always on the look out for goodies to go in goodie bags, treasure box, reading treat bucket, etc. I love the $1.00 spot in Target. Dollar Tree is great too! Here are a few things that I like to get:

*Books
*Lip gloss for girls
*Match Box/Hot Wheel Cars
*Coloring Books
*Pencils/Fun Erasers
*Fun Character Straws
*Cups(Match Holiday)
*Hair Accesories
*Play Jewelry
*Note Pads/Journals
*Character Crayons/Markers
*Games/Puzzles

I can keep going, but I know you probably get the idea! I hope this helps!

Great find on the legos! Guess I missed that post. Darn!

How old are the students? My DD is in 3rd grade and Target had sleep masks in the dollar spot. Lip gloss, nailpolish,manicure/pedicure sets are good depending on the age. Books are always great too!

Personally I'd stick with legos for everyone since you have enough. I always like to keep things as similar as possible, especially in the younger grades.

Of course I'm also the parent of a DD who would come home perplexed as to why the boys got cool things to play with, legos, hot wheels, etc. while the girls got sticky gunk to put on their lips, or a boring headband, or... well, you get the idea. I know not all girls feel the same way.

I don't have enough of the lego sets, that is why I am in need of a second idea. I have no problem having two different choices for the kids and if the girls want legos too, they can. But I need something else as well.

Since you saved a lot on the majority, I would just get some more Lego packs for all of them. I agree with the above poster, the girls getting less (craft kits or lip gloss) and the boys getting Legos may not seem fair. Unless you hand out the bags on their way out the door and tell them to open them when they get home. We always did that. But as soon as they got into the hallway most had them opened!:)

OP, the girl Squinkies are 10 for $10 today (Saturday) at TRU. I just got an email. I'd just go get them. I have a son in K and a daughter in first and they would each be happy with Legos and Squinkies respectively.

Actually, I got 20 of those Lego bags for my son to hand out as his b-day gift at school (no snacks) and was worried 1) I'd look like I spent a small fortune ($4 x 20 is $100, not the $10 I really spent) and 2) the girls wouldn't like them... They were all Lego City, Ninjago, Star Wars, and Atlantis. But, I have a girlie girl.
