Has anyone ever participated in one?

We've been involved in several, and it was always interesting that we never really needed to actually DO much of anything to be included.

I'm just curious if anyone has had experiences with class action lawsuits and what the outcome was for you.

Side note, wasn't there one not all that long ago involving music CD's or something like that? We participated, but never noticed if there was an outcome of any sorts.

I have been involved in a class action lawsuit against Dow Corning for silicone breast implants for over 10 years. Each time it has gotten close to a resolution, Dow Corning has reorganized and the entire thing has started all over again. Now the FDA is talking about endorsing the use of silicone breast implants again. If this happens, I'm sure the suit will be dismissed and the only ones to make anything on the suit will be the lawyers. By the way, if anyone has any questions regarding silicone breast implants, please PM me.

I am the Ohio representative in a class action law suit against Nationwide Insurance Co. for their use of after-market parts on cars. Things are moving VERY slowly!

TC:cool:

I once got a $5 voucher good on a cell phone bill or cell phone upgrade from a class action lawsuit. Something tells me the lawyers got a little more than that.

The only ones who get rich off "class actions suits" (IMHO) are the lawyers!!! Its a shame that the actual plantiffs get little to nothing!!

DH and I had Whole Life Insurance with Prudential during our 20's, 5 policies total. We closed them when our insurance salesman got fired for misleading sales. We switched to Whole Life with Metropolitan.
To make a long story short, during our late 30's we got a notice that we were in the Class Action Law Suit with Prudential and filled out a little paperwork with our policy #'s (I keep everything). We got a check for all the premiums we put in to those policies, plus interest! About a year after that Metropolitan did the same thing, plus we got 4 free years of life insurance coverage.
We don't understand it, but whose complaining:D
If they want to give us money:Pinkbounc :bounce:

DH and I have been involved in 2, one is against his previous employer. They were doing business as usual one day, and suddenly a message came up on their screen telling them to call an 800 number. It told them they were all being let go. This was a company with employees all over the US. A suit was filed three years ago. Two weeks ago we received a check for the payroll and such that he was entitled to, less attorney fees. There is one I've been contact about now that deals with my prior employer and their refusal to provide comp time or overtime compensation when the required we work weekends and evenings.

My sister was involved in one against the federal government. It took almost 10 years to resolve, but in the end, she and several others walked away with $500,000 EACH. Unfortunately, in true government fashion, they took a large percentage of it back in the form of taxes.
