I have reservations for this resort in late June early July. I would like to here some reviews about it. We have the 2 bedroom with loft. 85.00 a night. What do you think.

Thanks

I am always hesitant to give my opinion when it is negative in nature, but I feel when it comes to travel, that honesty is the best policy. My husband and I had the unfortunate pleasure of staying here 2 summers ago. Due to the fact that we joined what was not supposed to be a vacation club, we were stuck at this resort, when we were originally promised a Disney resort. This hotel claims that it is a five star "resort" when in fact it is nothing more than a budget timeshare property. If you already know this, and are fine with it, then great - but we were lied to by the hotel and the vacation club (we have since received our money back from vacation club and Choice hotels which is the parent company of this hotel). Here were our problems:

1. The location is bad - right on corner of 192 highway - there was tons of construction. The property itself had many security issues: locked access when there shouldn't have been, broken security lights, etc... There is virtually nothing within walking distance except a budget hotel next door, and a family restaurant (which was quite good actually).

2. We were misled about restaurant on property (there is no restaurant, but a small cafe - my kitchen is bigger than it, and it was closed for most of the week that we were there).

3. There was a small pool in our complex, but to get to the bigger pool, we had to walk across a congested highway because the complex is spread out.

4. We were told by hotel that we could rent cars on property (no!) or use shuttle service on property. The shuttle service only ran during certain hours, and so we were stuck several times at the hotel without a rental car, so our only choice was to pay extremely high cab fees because most shuttles would not come to the hotel complex after 6:00 p.m - even though hotel said they would!

5. Housekeeping worked all night right outside our room (I don't know on what since we had no daily maid service at all). They left garbage in front of our door several mornings in a row - really nice to look at in the middle of July! They turned on the sprinkler system three nights in a row at 3:00 a.m. and it hit our windows each night - needless to say, we were very tired.

6. Staff was absolutely rude and ignorant - right from the manager to the timeshare sharks. The timeshare people were the worst as they pretended that they were from customer service department in order to resolve our complaints. They were not - they only wanted us to take a tour of the complex!

On a positive note, the room was quite large (although several things were broken) and tastefully decorated. Despite our problems, this does not mean that these things will happen to you. There are several other threads on this board about which hotels to avoid, and this one comes up quite often. The property looks nice in the brochure (don't they all!), but it is quite misleading. We had to pay $500.00 US for 7 nights, plus a second fee to the vacation club. Once we added up the shuttle service, we spent lots more than if we would have stayed at Disney - but as I stated, we had no choice.

I wish you good luck. I must warn you that if you do have any problems, don't expect much from the hotel. I am known as a consumer advocate to my family and friends, and it took me 6 months to get our concerns resolved in an equitable way - although I was able to get the president of the company to contact me and apologize!

I hope that you have a better stay then we did. If you prepare yourself, you will be able to deal with any problems that you may have. Just be aware that when you call the hotel (as I did many times) they will embellish or mislead you in regards to the questions that you are asking - we, as well as the vacation club found a great lack of inconsistency and disorganization with this hotel.

Good luck. My review is not to scare you, but just to let you know from one customer to another, what our experience was at this hotel.

Thank you so much for your comments. We might choose to go somewhere else. Hotelkingdom really recomended this place. They have been so nice to us I wander why they did this? Maybe we can get switched somewhere else.

I wish I could get the search feature to work I would like to read some other revierws of it to get the general feeling.

If anyone else has oppinos please share. I want to hear all of them.
Thanks again for your oppinion.

No problem - I hope you don't base your decision to change hotels solely on my review alone. I agree that it would be good for you to hear from others who have also stayed at this hotel. We also heard good things from another internet discussion board, but after we returned, we discovered that these people owned properties at this hotel, and so they were more loyal to the property and had years to rectify their concerns. As I said, the quality of the room was fine, but for us, staying at a "resort" (and I use the term loosely as they didn't have many of the scheduled events running that were promised to us upon booking ), is so much more than just sleeping in a bed.

I wish you luck with your decision, and if you do decide to stay at this hotel, I hope that you have a positive experience - hopefully since my stay, they have worked out many of the issues that were giving them problems.

Thanks again Tigger. We had very similiar problems at Westgate Lakes a year ago. We still have not got what they promised us but I don't think we will anymore eithor.
We didn't want to have all of those problems again. I really would like to hear from other people though also. The guy at hotelkingdom told us they just opened 5 years ago and just completed a 5million dollar rehab. I can't beleive how bad things can get so quick .

Thanks again Tigger.

I just have to chime in with Tiger on this one. We stayed at Clarion Suites Resort World in March and it was honestly the worst service I have EVER experienced at ANY hotel. We got so tired of dealing with them that we left a day early, even though we had paid for another night.

Some of the things we encountered:

1. No maid service. None. When I went to the front desk and showed them their brochure that says daily maid service is provided, they told me it was only provided if I booked through the hotel's 800 number. Somehow I think that if we had booked through their Res dept, there would have been some other excuse.

They do not even change out the towels -- the same yucky, used ones were left in the room every day we were there. When I asked if we could just have some clean towels, they told us we would need to give them a $40 deposit. Finally, I took our old, used towels up and dumped them on the front desk and demanded clean ones. At that point, they gave us 2 scratchy towels from the pool area.

2. One bedroom villas do not have a shower. There is just a big tub with a handheld sprayer thing. You have to try to wash your hair with one hand while holding the sprayer with the other.

3. Pool was small and filled with leaves and debris

4. There is no laundromat on the property. To get to a laundromat, you have to go to the property next door. It is located on the outskirts of the property in a very dark, deserted area of the parking lot.

Fortunately, we did have a wonderful time at the parks and great weather so our vacation was basically a success but the folks at Clarion Suites sure did everything they could to make it otherwise.

Cofey - I forgot about the towels and no shower! You are right though - there is so much inconsistency at this place, it's pathetic! We showed them a printout from their website, as well as from the vacation club, and we were met with a nasty response as well! I knew we were in trouble when I showed them a the printouts, rattled off their hotel phone number and the names of the people I had spoken to off by heart, and showed them a copy of their brochure as given to us from the vacation club - guess what? He accused us of lying, and yelled at us in front of a bunch of other guests, who were also waiting to discuss problems with him! Like you said, this place should be closed down until they can get new managment and drastically refurbish the place.

919 Florida - Hotel Kingdom probably recommended this place because after my 6 months of research (which by the way it took me 4 months just to find out who owns this property - it is a private timeshare company who also owns Star Island Resort, with some shares owned by the parent company, Choice Hotels). I discovered that they receive commissions due to the fact that it is a timeshare property. I also discovered that the pricing discrepancies for this place are unbelievable as well. It sounds like you received a better rate than what we paid (we had to pay in US funds, and it was non-refundable for the whole week), but considering that there is no maid service, no restaurant on property, dirty pool area, no transportation, etc... you will be paying more than if you stayed at a smaller hotel with much better service. It sounds as if you need a 2 bedroom hotel, and if I were you, I would check out some of the places that are recommended on this board, like Buena Vista Suites, Springhill Suites by Marriott, etc... You will be paying a little bit more, but you will have a much better stay!

Good luck with your decision and your vacation wherever it is you choose to stay.

Like Tiger, I also wished they had presented themselves honestly as a no-frills timeshare and been candid about the lack of services. It would have made our stay there somewhat better because I would have packed extra clothes, towels, etc. and avoided the creepy laundry and confrontations with the rude staff.

As it is, I feel like they intentionally mislead people about what the resort is like. Why else would they continue to make all these claims of being a lavish 4-star property, then be openly hostile when their "guests" ask why they aren't honoring their committments?

Come to think of it, don't they also claim to be something like 15 minutes from WDW? That is another fib. It took us 30 minutes to get there in the low season with no traffic. In June, when the roads were more crowded, I think it would take at least an hour.

The timeshare guy was actually the only nice staff member we encountered the whole time we were there. When we told him about our awful experience, and that we would never buy a timeshare there in a thousand years, he cut the presentation short.

Thank you for asking this question, Chris. I am glad to have the opportunity of making others aware of what this property is really about.

Are you guys talking about the Clarion Suites Lake Buena Vista on palm Parkway? I was considering staying there, but if it's the same place, I will look for another resort!

As we stated, we are talking about the Clarion Suites Resort World which is on Poinciana Blvd. in Kissimmee. You are talking about their other property (Clarion Suites Lake Buena Vista) which is located in Lake Buena Vista. We saw this property as well, and it looked exactly like the one that we stayed at. They are both called Clarion Suites but the latter part of their name distinguishes which property it is. Our review was solely about the property in Kissimmee.

Good luck with wherever you choose to stay.

We stayed at Clarion Maingate for 2 nights before going on property 11/1 & 11/2/02. The room was clean, we did have maid service & clean towels, pool was nice, & the breakfast buffet was good. For any other meals besides breakfast, there is a small grill by the pool, however there are several restaurants nearby that you could walk to. The management was nice as well (nothing compared to what I read about the suites).

Thanks clareesmom. You dont know how good that makes me feel. We leave in 17 days and I was getting nervous. Thank you very much!!

After reading your postings, i wanted to comment - we stay at the Clarion Suites at Lake Buena Vista, and have never observed what you described at the other Clarion resort. Our unit is complete with washer/dryer; we have had wonderful service if there has ever been a concern; yes, there is only 1 pool but it is clean and so nice to swim in; the location is close to the Crossroads shopping area and about 1 1/4 miles from the Downtown Disney area. I just wanted to say that each yr we enjoy our stay there, wish it could be longer! If you are looking for a large resort , this is not the location but if you are looking for clean and comfortable, you have the right place.

Hello, Could you give more details about your experience at the Clarion in Lake Buena Vista? Is the breakfast a hot breakfast, or is it the donut & coffee? Are the bedrooms and bathrooms large or small? Thanks.:D

Actually the "Resort Worlds" timeshares have a few different ones:

Spas at Resort World
Villas at Resort World
Regular Resort World

Sounds like you were at the regular one which I believe is their oldest property.

If you are interested in a timeshare type place there are many others out there that are nice in the area. Try ebay for rentals or www.tug2.net in their classifieds section and rent from an owner.
