Hello, We have reservations for the Hawthorn Suites Lake Buena Vista for 7 people for 10 nights in May. For $25/night more we can reserve the Clarion Suites Lake Buena Vista. Any pros and cons for either place would be appriciated. Thanks.

WE STAYED AT HAWTHORN LBV FEB. 1-5 IN A 1 BEDROOM SUITE. THERE WAS MYSELF, HUSBAND, AND SON, AND THE SPACE WAS QUITE ADEQUATE FOR THE THREE OF US. THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND LOOKED AS IF IT HAD ONLY BEEN USED A FEW TIMES. I PARTICULARLY LIKED THE BATHROOMS, THERE IS A SEPARATE VANITY WITH A LITTLE STOOL TO SIT ON, AND THE ROOM WITH THE TUB/TOILET IS A PRETTY DECENT SIZE. THERE ARE 2 TV'S, ONE IN THE BEDROOM AND ONE IN THE LIVING ROOM/SITTING AREA. OH ANOTHER PLUS ABOUT THE BATHROOMS, THERE IS A DOOR TO THE BATHROOM IN THE BEDROOM AS WELL AS ANOTHER DOOR JUST OFF THE KITCHEN AREA. THE KITCHEN ITSELF WAS CLEAN WITH DISHES/COOKING UTENSILS PROVIDED, FULL SIZE FRIDGE, MICROWAVE. HOWEVER THE STOVE TOP ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A COUPLE OF HOT PLATES STUCK ONTO THE COUNTER TOP. THERE IS NO OVEN. THERE IS AN FULL SIZE IRONING BOARD AND IRON, AS WELL AS A HAIR DRYER. THE HOTEL OFFERS A HOT BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING, USUALLY POWDERED EGGS,SAUSAGE LINKS, TATER TOTS (OR HASH BROWNS, WHATEVER) AND THE USUAL CEREAL, BAGELS, YOGURT, FRUIT, ETC. THE FITNESS ROOM HAS ABOUT 4 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT, THE POOL LOOKED TO BE A LITTLE ON THE SMALL SIDE. PRICES IN THE GIFT SHOP WERE SURPRISINGLY REASONABLE. I THINK THE PROPERTY IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD AND IT'S VERY WELL-MAINTAINED, IT STILL LOOKS NEW. OH, AND THE BEDROOM WAS A FAIRLY DECENT SIZE, THERE WERE 2 BEDS, A DESK AND CHAIR, NIGHTSTAND IN BETWEEN BEDS. CLOSET WAS SMALL, BUT IT DIDN'T BOTHER US. IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HAD THERE BEEN ALL ADULTS IN THE ROOM. OVERALL WE ENJOYED OUR STAY THERE VERY MUCH AND WOULD NOT HESITATE TO STAY THERE AGAIN. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS.

Hello, Thanks for the message board reply, I really appreciate the nice details. Sounds like a nice place to stay. We don't spend much time at the motel on trips except for sleeping and showering. I'm always afraid I'm missing something if we're in the motel, and not out having fun!

I was wondering if the Hawthorn Suites were within walking distance to any of the Disney Attractions or Down Town Disney. Also, is there a grocery store near by and fast food restaurants like Taco Bell and McDonalds?

This is our first time to Orlando. We're not familiar with any of the area. Getting pretty excited about going!

Thanks.

Hi,

My suggestion is to find yourself an orlando map at Barnes and Nobles or another bookstore (with a detailed map of disney)

Hawthorn Suites is on Palm Parkway, a very nice tree lined boulevard near the entrance to downtown disney. Too far to walk, imho.

There is a new grocery store not far away and numerous strip malls with a variety of different restaurant chains.

You'll be about a 5-l0 minute drive from the various parks.

Are you renting a car? Probably better than using Hawthorn transportaion.

herc.
