First of all, I would like to thank everyone who voted for my picture. It's the first time I've ever won a photo contest and I couldn't be prouder or happier to have done it here! :cloud9:

On the original Weekly Contest/MGM thread, there was speculation about where the reflection in the picture was coming from - perhaps a car, table, rain, or trashcan?

I'd like to report that at WDW last week I was able to reproduce the photo and indeed it was a (very clean!) trashcan, as you can see in the second photo! :rotfl:

Congrats!! How fun is that? A "bright and shiny" trash can.

Only at Disney! Probably waxed too.......

what reflection are we looking at?

Well, duh!!! I was looking IN the reflection to see if one of the trash cans on the street (far right and far left) was doing something odd. I never stopped to ask myself where the reflection was coming from.

I am just useless after a three day weekend.

Congrats Linda! :yay: Another S3 user has a winning photo! (Ok, I know you took that pic before you got your S3, but that's beside the point!:rolleyes1 )

And thanks for taking the time to satisfy our curiousity about the reflection.

I voted for you! Next time I'm at MGM, I'm going to look for that very shiny trashcan :). Congratulations on your win.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! :worship:

The funny thing was, I was thinking the store was in a different location than it actually was. I thought it was on the street diagonally across from the Villain's store. So I spent quite a while taking shots of that store. Then, on the way out of MGM that night, I realized the store was in fact the one across from the 5&10 cent store. :scratchin I thought it was no longer the same store. But there it was! So I fired off a few quick shots but I was so hot and it was so crowded, I just wanted to get out of there!

We should have a Disney&Co thread just to see people's shots of it.

And you predicted it several weeks ago! Too funny! :woohoo:

congratulations! & although i still don't see the reflection everyone is talking about i'll just nod my head like i understand completely:lmao:

Now I don't feel so bad for being the only one who didn't understand (I should have known that Jann would help me out). :lmao: :rotfl2:

I was looking for a sparkle of light or something like that, but the entire bottom half of the shot is a reflection of the top. Kind of like you would see if there was a large rain puddle on the street. But its not a rain puddle, the camera is right next to a large, shiny garbage can. So don't look for a relfection "OF" a garbage can, just look for a reflection - it is coming from a garbage can (even though you can't see a can). But if you look at the second shot (which was made on a return trip), you can see the edge of the can a little better (even though you still can't tell its a can).

the part in green is the reflection..

Just look at the bottom quarter of the picture ... it looks like the whole store is being reflected in a wet street, but it's actually the top of a very shiny garbage can.

[EDIT]Hah, hah ... mabas9395 and Mickey88 beat me to it, and in a much more dramatic fashion, too! :)[/EDIT]

Thanks for explaining, mabas (and I see now, others)!

Actually, the camera was set on top of the garbage can for stabilty, which is how I knew there was a garbage can in there somewhere! In fact, that trip (2005), I'd just picked up that tip on the Dis!

wasn't trying to be dramatic, just figured a picture paints a thousand words...LOL
