Clarifying dinner options...

There's a small fridge in the stateroom, if you want to save a few things from Cabanas for snacking later. It would have to be cold food items, but an option. We haven't sailed with LOs as young as 2, but we have taken our dessert to go in the MDR, as well as have kids fall asleep at the table. If we aren't ready to leave the MDR but the kids are, one of us has in the past taken them to either kids club or the stateroom to watch cartoons then returned back to finish the meal. As much as the MDR is part of the DCL experience, at that age I would suggest late dining. You could feed LO an early dinner and then go to the show. There's a small window of time between the show and late dining, where she could be tucked in, then the adults can enjoy a relaxed late dining experience.

That is not a fridge. It is a drink cooler and will NOT keep food at a safe temperature. Food poisoning sucks (especially on a cruise ship). Please do not assume that "fridge" is safe for perishable food.

100% I think bringing back Cabanas (sit down or buffet) as an option would be great....
Also miss the pirate night buffet....
Agreed. I think an issue was appeasing servers who complained because 4/5 of their tables just did not show up to dine at all (this was on Med sailing)...most Europeans did the Cabana buffet. We heard grumbling from many servers- but that was over 15 years ago.

On all the ships. They will hold it but will not keep it at a safe temp to prevent spoiling and is a risk for food poisoning. You will want one that is shelf stable and might want individual ones to stay the safest.

I have kept cheese and shrimp in it without any issues - just for a few hours between lunch and a late night snack. Bring a couple of zip lock bags, fill them with ice, and put them in the “cooler” to help out.

Shrimp in particular seems risky. More power to you, but you would never catch me messing with that. You get food poisoning on a cruise chances are high you’re gonna be asked to quarantine for at least a little bit

I think a few shrimp inside a “cooler” with ice is safer than it is sitting in a pile, open to the air, in Cabanas. Cooked shrimp, in a real fridge, lasts 3 to 4 days. But to each his own.

PS. The “cooler” is generally 40 to 45 degrees. My fridge is 37. I wouldn’t trust it for insulin. But I would for some food items.

I am not sure about the “drawer” ones in the newer ships.
