Hi::MinnieMo

I am fairly new here, but I lurk a LOT during my breaks at work - dreaming about the cruise we are finally going to go on! I have a question and I hope someone here can tell me if I am interpreting the deposit rules correctly.

Right now our plan is to do the Western Caribbean on the Fantasy at the end of April, 2016 - Itinerary C - I feel like we are the only ones here NOT interested in a Star Wars Day at Sea.

We are 95% sure that things will work out so that we can make this cruise as planned. I would like to book it NOW as the cabin I want is available.

What is stopping me? My husband is interviewing for a new position at work and it might change or limit his vacation time. This will mean one of two things, switching to a shorter cruise on the Dream (I hope not!) OR switching our cruise date to early June.

Phew that is long-winded - but here is my question - if I understand correctly, I can move my cruise deposit to a different cruise with no penalty? I would not be cancelling and we should know sometime in the next 6 weeks.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks!:stitch2:

Better to book now and move if you have to. Prices will only increase.

HI! Thanks for your quick response :)

If I move there is not penalty or charge for it? That was what my big concern was...

I keep rereading the rules, thinking I am missing something!

No, you're not missing anything! You really can move your cruise with no penalties! I did it three times with the cruise we're actually taking in Sept 2015. If the price goes up, you'll even still be locked in at the prevailing rate the day you first booked, as long as you stay in the same category! Book now! You have nothing to lose!

You can move your cruise date with no penalty until the final payment date, which will be 120 days or less before the cruise. You can also cancel for a full refund before the final payment date (unless you have booked a concierge room).

If you'll have a final date selected within the next few months, you can definitely book something now with no worries. As Dug720 notes, booking now will protect you in case the price increases for the cruise you book.

If you change to a different cruise (either date or ship) you would book at the price being offered to new reservation, not locked in to the price of the date you booked the first cruise. I believe that price lockin only applies if you are changing categories on the same ship/date that you are already booked on.

Thanks all! I get it now - I feared a 20% penalty or something if I needed to move things :) I am all good now!

I'll just toss in here that Concierge bookings, if you wish to cancel, the deposit is non-refundable. But is transferable.

Oh, my apologies! I certainly didn't mean to give out misinformation. I clearly don't understand the whole "price lock in" thing!

I shouldn't have said something I don't have first hand information about! I do, however, have first hand info about changing cruise dates and not being charged a penalty.

I'm so sorry!
