Clarification about Deluxe Dining Plan?

Hey, all. This might be my first post on this board. Let me say we have used the DDP in the past and found it to save us some money (though we wouldn't have eaten all those desserts probably, and that would have saved us some clothing sizes! If only DDP would allow you to choose appy OR dessert.)

Now we're starting to plan a special anniversary trip for next year and we're dreaming about dining in signature restaurants almost every night...so we're trying to decide if the DxDP would be cost-efficient for us.

Here's the thing: We LOVE our appetizers! I know when you use one TS credit at a regular restaurant, you get an appetizer, but if you use 2 credits at the signature restaurants, do you still get the appy, or no? If no, we'd end up going OOP every night for appies, and wouldn't necessarily want all those desserts anyway, so we may be better off planning to go OOP for the whole thing.

Info and thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Appetizer is included for all DxDP meals, regardless of the number of credits it costs. (Assuming, of course, that the meal serves appetizers in the first place.)

Thanks! I was looking at mousesavers and it stated the signature restaurants allowed entree and dessert, didn't mention appy. Can you direct me to where I might find this info in print? (I've been struggling with the Disney website, very NON user-friendly.)

That's true for Basic DDP users. DxDP always includes the appy.

From the 2009 brochure:

Disney Signature Restaurants provide unparalleled cuisine served in elegant and relaxed surroundings. Choose from a selection of menu offerings including children’s favorites.

Two meals for each person dining at a Signature Restaurant will be redeemed from your meal plan balance.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Gratuities are not included. Dress Code for Signature Restaurants is Business Casual. Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimsuits or swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, or torn clothing of any kind. The Disney Deluxe Dining Plan is unavailable for Guests under the age of 3, but they may share from an adult plate at no charge or a meal may be purchased from the menu. The price of the meal will be added to your bill. Guests ages 3-9 must order from a children’s menu where available.

Each Signature Restaurant Meal includes one (1) single serving:

• Appetizer
• Entree
• Dessert
• Non-alcholoic beverage

ETA: WOW! It is so worth it! I could spend $72/day just on dinner! Then on top of that still get a sit-down breakfast or lunch, plus snacks?!

Deluxe Dining includes, per person, per night of your stay:

• 3 meal credits
• 2 snacks

It also includes the "resort mug" for each member of your party.

Unlike Basic DDP, the meal credits are not specific to TS or CS; they can be used at either. Note than certain meals require 2 credits per person.

Credits are allocated based on the number of nights of the reservation, but they can be used at any time after you check in until midnight of the day you check out.

Cost is $71.99/pp/night adult, $29.99/pp/night child. Taxes are included in that price, gratuities (in general) are not.
