I am staying BWI CL in December. My dad lives in Fl for the winter and usually comes down to visit one day or two. He stayed offsite last time, so he will probably do this again. Question is - is it permissible to have a guest at any time at CL or is that frowned upon. He isn't able to keep up the diehard pace, so it might be nice if we could stop at the lounge and relax after a day at the park. We will eat out, so this isn't an attempt at a meal plan at all. I don't plan on abusing the privilege, just trying to make his day more enjoyable. (he is a recent convert to the magic - couldn't get him to go before, now he actually likes it :teeth: )

Hopefully this isn't going to open a whole can of worms. I may email the CL staff and see if they think it will be ok, but before I do I thought I'd ask for some input.

definetly call and ask.. they are usually very flexible as long as you explain up front... also if your party is small 2 or 3 it is usually no problem at all as you can have up to 4to 5 in a room ... hope it works out... we have stayed CL at wilderness and my parents have driven over to babysit so we could do epcot at night and they had no problems at Wilderness... my dad enjoyed the lounge....

Register him as a guest for the two nights, as long as it doesn't put you over your room max occupancy, and pay teh $25 for him to have a key. Problem solved.

You might also want to look into a suite and just have him stay with you.

Personally if someone took their parent into the lounge for a cup of coffee one afternoon, I don't see the problem. But I don't think it's appropriate to give a non-registered guest cart blanche access to the lounge for several days.

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to ask first, to make sure they don't mind, before we go.

You can have people come up with you, we did at the YC and no one said a word to us.
No, it's really not okay to have non-concierge people in the lounge as your guests. First of all, why would a staff member say anything to you? I'm sure they don't know the names and faces of every concierge guest on the floor at any one time. If it was open to everyone, you wouldn't need a special room key card to gain access to the secure floor or building.

I think all concierge level rooms have an occupancy limit of 5, provided you stay within those guidelines, you can add a guest and pay the additional $25 per night. KaitysMom, if your dad is going to want to come back to the resort in the afternoon without you for a break, this is the best way to go. They will issue him a key and he'll have no problem with access.

I see your point if that were the case- I hadn't even considered him going back to the lounge without us. It was just a stopping point at the end of the day - maybe a half hour at most. Maybe we'll just bring him up to our room for a bit if there is any issue with him being in the lounge - wouldn't that be ok? If he were going to be popping in and out, using the amenities, it wouldn't be right at all. I may have made it sound that way in the OP.

I don't know who you are working with in the pre-planning department, but I've had the pleasure of dealing with Alana, Amy and Angie. They are all wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them about this special request and have them offer you some feedback. They ultimately have the final say and this could possibly be decided on a case by case basis. Are you over the 5 limit if you did add your dad to the reservation for that one day? It's their policy to charge the additional $25 for the extra adult, but they will sometimes just let it slide.

Pose your question to one of the fine ladies in pre-planning and I know they'll take good care of you.
