Imagine this was your last time to WDW with your family and you had seen neither one of these shows......

Which would you choose......

I have Hoop De Doo booked already as it is a show I thought my family would enjoy and would NEVER pay that amount of money for six of us to see it.

I (and ONLY I) have seen La Nouba and WOULD consider paying for this in the future (it was great) but I dont know that with the kids getting older that we will be coming back to Florida since the summer job and college age stuff is about to start. (Well, okay, maybe when they are married and kids of their own right?).

Which should I choose, which should I choose........

No I wont do both.....the only reason I am thinking this way is because HDDR is 2 Table service credits on the dining plan and if I use those at the two restaurants that we are planning to go to anyway and pay out of pocket it the savings basically brings the price of La Nouba down to half of what it costs.

Hope this made sense.......

(and what if one the kids get sick - La Nouba in non-refundable....decisions, decision)

I am going to go with LA NOUBA! But I am basing this on already having done both....I know you said NOT TO but I just had to  ....ugh!!!

LA NOUBA was RIVETING. The show is FABULOUS. We have seen it over and over again and NEVER tire of it EVER! :thumbsup2

HDDR I saw ONE time and that was PLENTY. Took my family and another family and boys (5) were from ages 5-16! YES, they loved it but my two DS' are now 20 & 24 and they have never mentioned it again. They have MENTIONED while I was planning a WDW trip to get LA NOUBA tix. My DS just went with his DGF in March and while planning it out, that was at the TOP of the list!

Here is my thought, get tix to LA NOUBA and make an ADR to Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL (very simliar with all the hollering and screaming)!!! :goodvibes

My first trip to WDW I saw both HDDR and LN. This was back when they had the "wishes" program. LN was two wishes. I can't remember if HDDR was one or two. LN is increidible, even if it is pricey. We did see HDDR again and are planning on seeing LN this fall. (With all the money we're saving on free dining, Disney was sure to get a big chunk of it anyway, right?

My daughter was 16 (I think) when we saw LN the first time. I think she much prefered LN over HDDR. But, we enjoyed both.

We also caught one of Cirque's touring shows last year and I'm considering another this year. I really don't think what you see on TV does it justice.

I have been to both and hands down agree that La Nouba is your best shot.

I can see your anguish, LN is a much better show than HDDR from what I've gathered (I've seen LN but not HDDR)...but I think you're maybe wanting more of a family experience than just a show, as LN is.
If your kids haven't seen LN, then I would have a hard time not letting them have that experience. My 8 & 10 year olds loved LN. It's one of the best shows of any type that I've ever seen.
If they have seen LN, then maybe HDDR would have more of the family experience component that you're looking for.

we were very disappointed in HDDR and amazed by Cirque so imo there is no decision,,,i'd go to trail's end if i wanted the hddr food and go to cirque for the show

I'm so strongly For LN that I'm jumping up and down , yelling at the computer. HDDR was cute for what it's worth, but nothing that we'd reminisce over with such awe and passion. My kids are still young and I thought they'd really enjoy HDDR, but the magic people experience there is majorly based on seating location and interaction. We had an alright seat, and a few laughs, the food was good, but they cleared the tables so fast that we never did get extra of anything. It was an entertaining meal but that was it . Now La Nouba is something they talk about a lot. We even got the special Christmas tree ornament that is a clear ball filled with pieces of their costumes, photos, and a rare piece of yellow feather from a special character. What a keepsake ! Need I say more about what I think you should do ?????? Have a great time one way or another. :)Elisa

minority here: i would do hoop de doo, esp since you feel that this will be a last disney trip...this is something that will allow you all to interact together during the show, and its only at disney!

yes la nouba is only at disney, but cirque du soleil does tour around, and so technically its something that you can do in the future....

just my humble opinion. :O)

Generally speaking, thats what is printed on the tickets, and the "official policy" - but if someone can't make it they'll generally "swap" your live ticket for a Gift Cert. for a future show. That techincally isn't a refund, but it lets you see it another time. - Make sure you do this BEFORE the show loads - which is at least a half hour before your show time.

GO WITH CIRQUE !!! JMO, BUT I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN HOOP DE DO WHEN WE WENT, IT WAS "CUTE" BUT NOT WORTH THE MONEY ! :cool1:

i love the Cirque show a lot. but i think it depends on how old everyone is. i don't think you should be brining young kids to see the show because they probably won't really care. i'd say 10 and up would be good for that show.

Hoop De Due is really more kid friendly anyway. it was ok when i went. my fiance even got pulled up on stage to be the indian it was cute lol. but i didn't like sitting there for that long during dinner. when i'm finished with my food i usually like to pay and leave and go on to my next thing.

my fiance and i get christmas ornaments from all of the trips we go on and he HAD to have one from La Nouba! he loves that show. he got the ornament and i even bought him the dvd for Christmas.

We took our DD to Hoop De Do when she was 4 1/2 - she REALLY enjoyed it and reminisced about it often. When we went back when she was 8 or 9 she had no desire to see it again. I reallize that all kids are different, and that the show is for all ages, but if your kids are older - I would go with Cirque. As a matter of fact... this year as a 8th grade graduation present my daughter will get to go see Cirque which she has been longing to do for years now. (count my 2 cents as added) :wave2:

It depends on your tastes. La Nouba is very artsy-entertaining, HDD is more funny-entertaining. Oh, and they feed you at HDD, too. :)

One of my boys actually fell asleep in La Nouba while the guy was flying around with his scarves.

For us, it's Hoop Dee Doo. :)

I don't know if i'm adding my 2 cents or not, but I was trying to decifer between Hoop dee Doo and Cirque as well back in March. We are going in June 2006. I read up as much as I could, I bought a few books on Disneyworld and read up on some reviews. Honestly (Now this is just my opinion) It seemed Hoop dee doo was fun, there were mixed reviews on the food, it seems by what I read it was about an hour or maybe a little longer. But no one ever said anything bad about cirque. I have to decide it the Hoop dee do was worth the cost (food and a show) But there was no real excellent review, that I could find. SO my DS7 saw the advertisement for Cirque on our Disney vacation planning video and seemed very interested. (I think it was seeing the people climb the walls and fall and bounce back to the wall, He's into spiderman right now and somehow it related to him) So anyway..... we chose Cirque and bought the tickets. It's all about weighing out the pro's and con's. I hope we made the right choice. : )

Another vote for La Nouba. It was hands down the best show I've ever seen, we bought the DVD and it was even fantastic just watching it at home! I don't have kids but the children near us appeared totally mesmerised but I would agree with other posters who've said older children would enjoy it more. There was a 4/5 year old near us and he just adored the clown!

We have seen both, and enjoyed both. As you know, since you've seen it, Cirque is an electrifying show. HDDR is a fun western themed variety stage show, with a very average dinner. The experience you have at HDDR depends largely on where your table is located - and that depends on when you made reservations. You can book HDDR up to 2 years in advance. We booked our last trip 1 year out and got what I consider the best table in the house. We were the first row directly in front of the stage and the very center of the row. We had a great view and my DH loved the show. We used 2 TS credits on the dining plan. Not sure if we'd do it again if we paid out of pocket, but "free" with the plan was WELL worth it.
Cirque was wonderful and I'm certainly glad we saw the show. But the cost is prohibitive and we most likely won't see it again because of that.

OP, I think I'm reading in your post that you are looking for the "family" experience, something you can look back on in the years to come and laugh and talk about with fond memories. My vote for this is the HDDR. LN is a great show for sure, but HDDR is an experience the whole family can share in. My family (now all adults) won't consider a WDW trip complete without it.
