I can appreciate your dilema - I was in the same spot a couple of months ago. DH & I have see La Nuba and LOVED it! He is rather 'tight' with a dollar, which balances my tendency to spend-spend-spend, but absolutely did not hesitate when I suggested going again.
We have also jealously observed people gliding around Epcot on Segways and wondered how/if we could do that. When planning our February 2005 trip for ourselves and another couple (their 1st trip to WDW) I read about the Epcot Segway tour in the Official Guide toWDW. DH & I talked it over and decided to do BOTH.
Our reasoning was simple. A nice dinner (actually, even a moderate dinner) at WDW can cost $50+ dollars per person. We bought VKL & Q&C vouchers planning to share meals and keep costs down. Though meals are necessary, you don't usually remember exactly WHAT you ate, but rather WHERE you ate. It's all about ATMOSPHERE and MEMORIES. I gotta feel that SEGWAY will provide some terrific memories and La Nuba already did, so we SPLURGED (if you will) and made the choice to enhance the trip with both activities.
We had scheduled Hoo-De-Doo-Review but cancelled our PS (over $50 per person!) as I have seen the HDDR and it was great, but dollar for dollar, the Segway tour (2 hours) seemed a much more exciting choice! I used my Disney VISA discount (there are also
AAA discounts and others I think) we booked the Segway. The regular cost is $80 & discount was 20%.
I booked La Nuba WAY EARLY to get our choice of seating. To get a bit of a discount, buy a voucher for Cirque through "The Official Ticket Center" in Orlando (407-396-9020). I called Chris at TOTC, bought the vouchers, then called Disney to choose my seat and make a reservation telling them I would be using a voucher. All went very smoothly. TOTC will either mail your vouchers or you can pick them up when you arrive and exchange them for tickets at the La Nuba box office.
Beside the savings, another advantage to the voucher is that Disney charges your tickets immediately upon purchase and you cannot exchange or refund them. The vouchers are not 'fixed' for a particular show until you present them at the box office and TOTC did not charge them to my card until 30 days before my show date.
Another reader commented correctly that you can buy the Cirque tapes and they are shown on various cable channels as well. These are wonderful to watch and thoroughly entertaining. HOWEVER, tapes/TV cannot truly translate the feel and experience of having seen Cirque in person. If you can find it in your budget to do so, I would highly recommend doing both and promise you will have a delightful time and memories that will extend long beyond the end of your WDW visit. :thewave:
