Hello everyone!

This is the official sign-up thread for the new Circle Journal. Some us have already started discussing this on another thread, so here’s a place to catch up a bit if you haven’t read it already: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1144700

What is a circle journal?
See Buffy’s very good explanation here: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=13180516&postcount=48

What is the commitment involved?
We’ve decided to try for 2 groups: a six month group and a year long group. That would be the length of your commitment. You would have the summer to work on preparing your book for a SEPTEMBER 15 initial mailing date. Then, you would be mailing the book you have out on the 15th of every month. After the circle is complete, your book would make its way back to you at the end of the 6 months or one year. Remember, after the initial setup of your book, you only have to complete a 2 page layout each month. It may not sound like a lot, but other people are counting on you to get the book out on time so the circle is unbroken.

What do you need to decide ahead of time?
You need to choose a theme and a size for your book. Remember we’re going to be mailing the books so they’ll have to be smaller than what you usually scrap in. 6 x 6, 8 x 8, 6 ½ x 10 work very well. To make sure the books don’t get damaged in the mail, we ask that you always mail in a box. The priority boxes from the post office are $8.05 for the flat rate and may be less depending on the distance the box is being sent.
For themes, it can be Disney-related or not, anything goes. Here’s a long list of non-Disney ideas Buffy provided us:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=13180997&postcount=54

What’s the next step?
Once our list of participants is finalized, I’ll start a yahoo group and PM you with the info. That way we have a secure place to post our addresses, etc and that will be the place we check in with each other about mailing dates and whatever else comes up.

Okay, so there is certainly enough interest to fill up a 12 month CJ already. Here is a list of participants based on who posted on the last thread and who PMd me:

Interest for 12 month:
1. New England Eeyore
2. Stitch is Our Hero
3. KA Mommy
4. Patchchild
5. Momx3boys
6. Rlovew
7. Ddavis860
8. BernardandMissBianca
9. PrincesssNancy96
10. Mickster
11. Caitsmama
12. JennyL (or 6 month)
13. Yodas Mom (or 6month)
14. Kat Disney
15. Mom of 2 Disney Kids
16. Ohana4
17. Mickeyteacher (or 6 month)
18. pjpoohbear

For 6 months so far we have:
1. Vanyel (12 month as second choice)
2. Caitsmama
3. New England Eeyore (if needed)
4. reinita1002
5. UGAFAN0829
6. Ohana4

So now we have a decision to make: If we have more interest, do we increase the 12 month one or split into 2 smaller groups? I would think we wouldn’t want to go much larger than 15 months but I want everyone who wants to participate to have a chance.

So, if you’re not already on the list, let me know what you’d be interested in. If you’re on the list, please post to confirm that you’re still interested. Once we have a final number interested we can see how we want to divide the groups up. I’d like to leave the sign ups open for about a week to give less frequent posters a chance to see it.

I know I haven’t explained this in full detail, so please ask any questions that you have.

Hi there,
Yes, I'm still very interested! This should be lots of fun. Although there have been some glitches in some other CJ's, I'm feeling really good about this one. :thumbsup2

Yes, I'm in. I'm very excited about this, I've always wanted to do a CJ. :cool1: It is hard to decide on the subject, there is so many I like. :)

Is it best to use a spiral bound book?

I'm still interested! 12 month is perfect! Thanks so much for organizing this! I'm excited! (Boy, is that a lot of exclaimation points!) :rotfl:

I'm still interested and excited - thanks.

I might be interested in a 12 month (or 6 month maybe). I do have some questions........Are we supposed to create layouts in these books, or also include photos with the layouts? If we include photos, would they have people in them or just scenes? Is this a Disney related CJ? If so, is it general Disney?

I hadn't seen the thread you referenced so I didn't know it was going on.

Thanks!! :)

I am still in for the 12 month. I can also confirm for StitchIsOurHero, who is away from a computer for the day.

I can't wait to get started! :cool1:

I'm still interested in the 12 month..theme.. omg now something else to add to my ever growing list of things to accomplish! LOL

Actually, a spiral bound book does not work as well unless it has a lot of extra pages that you can take out at the end. If not, as people add pages the book becomes fatter and fatter so it may not be able to close at the end. I did use a spiral bound one for my last book, but I replaced the spiral with ribbons that could be loosened as it got fatter. I haven't gotten it back yet so I can't speak to how it worked out.

I'm still in. The 12month is great for me.

I have had so much fun with the CJ that I am in. The ladies have been simply amazing. A very supportive and talented group of women. I would love to be in another so if you have room I'd like to join :goodvibes

In general, you DO include photos - the layout is about YOU as it relates to the person's topics, but not all CJs need photos. It depends on how the person sets it up.

We kind of informally decided that the CJs theme could be Disney, but it didn't have to be, it would be up to each person to choose for themselves. But your theme would probably be more specific than just general Disney - it might be something like Favorite Character or Favorite Ride or any number of things.

Here are some examples that I have seen in my book that is out there right now.
My theme was "Letter's to Walt" When I get my book back I plan to take it to Disneyland and sit under the Partner's statue and *read* Walt his letter's.

Definately still in for 12 months (or a little longer if needed to include everyone). I will have to learn how to upload poages online so people can see them as the months go by.

Thank you!! Actually, I hadn't thought of how bulky it could get. :)

Goodness! Work always seems to get in the way of my swapping! I leave and come back and there are good/evil swaps, and circle journals (which I have been waiting and waiting for one to open as I have a good idea for a theme...)

Anyway, is it too late to join up for the 12 month one?
