I will be bringing my cell phone with me and was wondering if Cingular has good reception in the parks and resorts? I'll be staying at VWL and would prefer to use my cell vice a calling card to make/receive any calls.

Thanks!!

6 days until VWL

yes it works - you just may have to walk outside sometimes for the person you are calling to heard you.

Also, make sure you have a national long distance plan, or that you'll be within your calling area. I'm from NJ, so it was cheaper for me to use a calling card than to use my roaming minutes. Those charges are ridiculous if you don't pay attention.

I have Cingular and did have to step out on my balcony to use my cell phone to receive the best reception. I also have the Nationwide Plan, so no roaming here!!!!

my friend had cingular when we stayed at boardwalk villa, it was totally worthless.
i had great reception, with verizon.
I think his phone, worked just fine, though in all major theme parks, dtd, etc

We have the same service and in most cases had to go on the balcony for clear service, except at OKW where we had no service at all in most of the resort. Did notice frequent dropped calls or no service avail notice at times this past summer. Service was fine in all the parks (when I brought the phone.. ).

Stayed in early Oct @ BCV with Cingular and the newer GSM phones and we never had a problem. Good Luck.

Fair reception on the OKW balconies, but OK when walking outside at the Poly. It seems to vary.

I just wanted to add to SheriB's comment about roaming charges. Definitely make sure you get the free long distance an roaming. My sister has Cingular and she thought she had that plan, but didn't. Well, after five days in Disney, she came how to $175 cell phone bill! Luckily, she was able to upgrade when she got home and get the bill down to about $90.

Mine worked pretty good through most places. I had problems getting a signal in parts of my resort though.

I have used Cingular inside out of the area and had no problems with reception. If you don't have the plan that has free roaming, you can call and change your plan before your trip and then switch back after your trip. At least this is what we were told by a Cingular employee my husband talked to at their customer service center.

We were told the same thing, doxdogy - however, when DH went to actually switch he was told that we couldn't go back to the exact same plan we'd had before. It had to be slightly different for them to approve it, so we didn't bother.

If you're planning a Vero Beach trip, I just got back last month and have Cingular. Fantastic reception in the room and the resort in general. Nationwide plan comes in handy especially since we're travelling from California.
