Cast: Myself, DH, DM, DD6 dressed as Belle, DD4 dressed as Aurora
Arrived for 1:35 ressie at 1:35 thanks to monorail delay and a Florida rain storm. We were taken right in. No Fairy Godmother in lobby area. We get to our table and the Princesses are already making their rounds in our section. I'm not sure which came first, Belle or our appetizers.
The girls got their shared appetizer platter (carrot sticks, mozzarella sticks, celery sticks, ranch dressing, grapes) which they both munched happily on, especially DD6. The three adults also shared an appetizer platter. There were 4 each of everything so there was plenty. Now, this portion of the meal was quite chaotic for us as the princesses were visiting. I do know that I liked all the appetizers (I was hungry!!) but it was more like I was just shoving food into my mouth between picture taking and watching the girls. Not a complaint, mind you, that's really what I came for after all. On the adult platter were some marinated grilled chicken strips over spinach with raspberries, a mozzarella cheese "salad" (no bruschetta), crab balls, and seafood pockets. We all liked everything.
Princesses included Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, and Mary Poppins. Those seem to be the ones always there. Each made a visit in fairly rapid procession. Small amount of chit chat with the girls and a pose for the camera. Quick, quick but we didn't expect more. I think the princesses would have chatted a bit more however my girls seem to get awestruck around the characters and my normally very chatty kids are quiet and shy.
Got some wonderful pictures though... if I only knew how to add them to my post!
The princesses are now gone and we now have time to enjoy our meal. My mom and I got the Major Domo Pie and my DH got the Salmon. The meals were quite good, no complaints. They were nicely presented with tasty combinations. While they were not hot, neither were they cold... lukewarm which was just fine by us. Large portions, I had to share mine with DH. We did not feel rushed through this portion. The waitress did not come by until we were all done. The girls both got the mini hot dogs with pretzels rolls and both ate very well (for them, that is). Hubby took a bite of the hot dog and thought it was quite decent. We all liked the sweet potato chips.
By desert, the Princess were back out making their rounds on the far side of the restaurant. The girls loved the looks of the ice cream presented with the chocolate crown but only had a few bites. I of course, finished my entire Blueberry Buckle. My mom and I both really liked the flavor combinations. DH wasn't impressed with the "imitation raspberry" sauce but I noticed he didn't leave any crumbs on his platen to share with me.
We left with full tummies and smiles all around. DM and I were happy we had the afternoon to walk off our lunches as we were quite stuffed.
Worth the money? Lucky for me, my mom was the driving force behind the lunch.... made ressies and paid
but I would have gladly done so. For one, the food was very good, especially good for theme park fare. I would go just for the food if I was in a splurging mood. For the mom in me, watching the girl's excitement of eating in the castle with the princesses is always priceless. And it's been a good way of enforcing table manners ("You don't want to see Cinderella to see you talking with your mouth full, sitting still, not using your fork...... ")
Like all Disney memories, it will be cherished.
Just to provide an option for those who can't get ressies or don't want to spend that much money on lunch: Mickey's Toontown in the big store there, I believe it is the Toontown Hall of Fame Tent. There is usually three different lines for character greetings. Go in the princess line, it's slow moving but there will be not one, but three princesses at the end. It's always been Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White when I've been, not sure if that ever changes. One by one, the princesses do as much interacting (if not more) as they get with the lunch. The added bonuses are that there are photographers there (pics on photopass, which is great!!) for even more pictures and there are beautiful backgrounds for the pictures. Beats the restaurant, food and glasses at the table scenery.
Hope this helps anyone trying to decide.
