Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner

I am sad....I have reservations for my last night at Disney in April. My wife, daughter and I have never eaten in the castle. Should we cancel? Is it worth it just to be in the castle?

You could try 1900 Park Fare at the GF. It is easy to get to from MK by using the monorail.

I have long thought the best experience at the castle is from the outside:earsboy:

I don't go there for the food. We always go to CRT every trip.

Not going to CRT in the castle in WDW is like going to Egypt and not going into the pyramids because the food isn't good. :confused3

The castle is Walt's dream and is symbolic of everything that WDW is and stands for. We always request a window seat overlooking fantasy land. Food? What food? We have seen Peter Pan being chased by Captain Hook right outside the windows!

Anytime you see an add or Disney you see the castle. You can say, "Hey, I've been there!". That's worth it to me.

Sometimes we forget the profoundness of the castle! The happiest and most visited place on earth- even more than the pyramids!

Go to CRT and feel the magic of the surroundings. Think of where you are! :goodvibes

I have never eaten in the castle, and, in a family where I am the only "girl", I may never have the chance! That being said, I have to agree with cstraub! Food, what food?!! Based on the recent reviews, I would still go, but would probably try to get an ADR for the least expensive meal, breakfast, and early in the AM so I could actually walk into the park before it opens!! Imagine, walking down Main Street virtually by yourself, taking it all in before the crowds arrive and going into the castle to dine! Sounds magical to me!! And hey, if the breakfast isn't that great, there's always Cosmic Ray's for a great burger for lunch!!

While normally I would agree with you. Going for dinner to CRT is like throwing money out the window. And I just cant throw money out the window. I enjoy my vacations as much as the next person. But to spend over $100 on dinner to then have to go down & get 6 orders of chicken nuggets is insane!

I just cant see spending over $100 just to say "I was there". And the price will only go up on our next trip as my DS will be 3.

$30 for chicken nuggets is just crazy!

A friend of mine (someone I went to high school with) is down there working at CRT as a part of the College Program.. I'll have to ask her if she knows anything on the inside :)

You kind of have to wonder if the manager didn't seem to care because of being overwhelmed with the complaints! I'm glad I've gotten to eat there before the changes. I had decided we wouldn't go back because of the price but combined with everything else, it is definitely off of our list.

I'm so sorry to hear of your horrible meal.

I'm so happy we took DD to eat at CRT breakfast last September before the price change. DH and I didn't think the breakfast was that great then, so to spend 2 TS on it now instead of 1, out of the question.

But unfortunately, Disney has decided that for people to experience this dream, they are going to have to fork over a lot of money - and I don't think it was Walt's dream to keep gouging people for mediocre food and service. Why take the best part of the Magic Kingdom and ruin it by charging ridiculous pricing for breakfast, lunch and dinner and taking the majic out of it. We ate dinner there last year with our 3 yr old and while it certainly was thrilling, I can't say it was the most magical part of our trip. And for the OP, they certainly had a major disappointment in the profoundness of the castle.

We were there for Cinderella's Breakfast February 15th. I, too, was disappointed....The food wasn't that great...We all felt rushed....I guess my grandchildren "liked" it...but, I don't think as much as what I paid for all of it....I won't do it again...and I, as much as the grandchildren, was excited and looking forward to it.... :sad2:

What a disappointment! We've been for breakfast and enjoyed it. Of course that was a couple of years ago. We have an ADR for dinner in April. Now I don't know whether to cancel or not. :confused3 The kids want to eat at the castle again and breakfast wasn't available! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

this thread is really making me think if I should cancel our breakfast in August. I guess I will wait and see if they improve by then heck they have 6 months.

I respectfully disagree. We experienced it a couple of times before the changes and it was alright. Now I won't even consider it.

To each their own.

Just know that anyone that has a morning ressie, and that includes the Crystal Palace folks also get inside - so while the parks are "empty" compared to any other time in the day - you'll still be with about 25 or so people - but at the gate - it felt like hundreds!! I was a little bit "stressed" and couldnt figure that out!! :rotfl: then when they let us in - many walked fast to the castle and suddenly many veered off!! :rotfl:

Also, as long as people think its a must do no matter the cost - then supply and demand rules so they will charge outrageous prices and give poor standards in return...

To me that's sad. There has to be a better way to voice displeasure, but the loudest voice is when no one books it - and that is just not going to happen!!

I too think breakfast or lunch is better than dinner... and the Princess breakfast in Norway is cheaper - but like the sentiments here, its not the castle, and its not Cinderella - so its a subjective choice.

For years we enjoyed a character-free lunch at CRT. It was a tradition each trip. Last year, they turned it into a character lunch, so we tried the last remaining character-free meal there- dinner. It was just as enjoyable as the character-free lunches used to be, but more expensive. Now, they made dinner a character experience as well. This is the first year in over 20 years that we do not have CRT in our dining plans. It's very disappointing when Disney decides to pursue profits over quality. They did the same thing with Akershus. Enough with the character meals already!

WOW - what a bummer. We've never eaten at the castle and I was looking at this thread for advice if it is appropriate and not too embarrassing for my 13 and 12 year old sons to go to CRT for dinner. (I have ALWAYS wanted to eat at the castle). We would not be going for the character interaction, but for the food and the atmosphere. Weird - some recent dining reviews on another web site are completely contrary to this review. I guess I'll just mull it over - we have plenty of time to decide.

To those of you who have ADRs, don't cancel them yet. You may want to get a backup plan, but don't cancel your ADRs because of early bad reviews. Wait to see if things get better. And I wouldn't spend 2 TS for it. I'd pay OOP if we were going to do it. While the castle is a unique place, the restaurant doesn't make it more special than any other Disney castle with or without a restaurant. I love Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. It's my favorite and it's just as magical as Cinderella Castle even though it doesn't have a restaurant, although CRT was originally named after Aurora's father. :rotfl:

Does anyone know if you can get in and take a peek upstairs in the resteraunt without actually eating there? We were going to go for dinner as our 2 kids have never been there, but I'm not at all happy about having to pay $25 each for them to get chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes, mini hot dogs in pretzel buns, or macaroni with melted mozzarella - non of that even sounds the least bit good! We have the dining plan, but don't really want to use 2 punches on that!!! We are considering just getting 1 adult and 1 child dinner and splitting it so we won't burn so many TS punches. My 9 year old daughter says she couldn't care less about actually going into the castle, but my 6 year old son is another story. I HATE that they changed this and am hoping they will have so many complaints by Sept. when we go that they will have changed it back!!! Cross your fingers!!

intrep93- I don't think you can share at Cindy's...you might want to check with wdw dining before planning.

I doubt if you can do that. ALOT of the reason for 2 tickets is the photo package.
