Cinderella's Castle-update with mosaic

MickeyWanaBe- I tried using the program last night with little success. I got the photos uploaded, added a so-so castle picture, and left the settings in the "default" mode. What type of settings are you using to get such amazing turn out?? I need a dummies book for this software....and I'm usually computer literate!! LOL!!!

Please feel free to PM or email me..

I downloaded andrea mosaic and had trouble at first too but found that when the box came up and asked to "save" but no list came up I typed in my file name that I wanted to call the list and clicked save and it saved the photos.

Try choosing a list name click save and see if it has the photos in the collection then.

it was confusing

Thanks--that worked! I figured it was something simple.

And now for another stupid question :headache: , what are you all using to view the end result? Neither Windows nor PSE seems to recognize that file format.

ETA: Nevermind my last question. I found the jpg file. :badpc: It was in the folder the picture for the mosaic came from, not the one with the tiles.

and here it is . . . .

here is one, my third try. Built with over 2000 pics from the latest local musical theater production. Beauty and the beast.

I have just started using the program so I have been playing around with the settings. It is usually different each time. I usually bump up the number of tiles per row. It starts out at 20 and I have it set anywhere from 45 to 65 depending on how small I want the tiles to be. If you are creating a landscape photo you will need something on the higher end; portrait will take less. I keep an eye on the total photos used in the mosaic size box. I aim for 2-4 times the total number of photos I have in the collection to use. Depending on the number of repeats you allow, you could run out of pictures and end up with black holes if your number is too high. The smaller the tile the better the final mosaic will come out, but you won't be able to make out the smaller photos unless you print the final mosaic pretty big. I plan on printing mine poster size through Walgreens and hopefully they will be big enough. The width of the tile I usually do between 100-200. 0 for black line. Minimum distance between doubles is usually around 10 (make it smaller if you are working with less photos). Reuse pictures anywhere from 4 to 10 depending on the size of the collection of photos. And I allow the photos to be modified 10% to 20%. And that is all I usually change. Clear as mud, right? I have just been playing around with it and changing the numbers a little here and there. My first try just looked like a bunch of photos pasted together...

Another thing I have found that helps is contrast in the pictures. A photo with a bright blue sky behind the castle will turn out better than a photo with clouds behind it.

I am not very good at :teacher: , I am the visual/hands on type.

Wow, thanks for sharing everyone, they are so cool!

Im just downloading this now, it looks amazing.
Well done on everyones pics :)

Be careful when using someone elses pictures without their prior consent...some people are kind of touchy about that.

I have a couple photos that are close to what was used, but the crane will need to be photoshopped out first.

Can anyone tell me what causes the discoloration in the top right of this picture??? :confused3 My DH had several pictures from our recent trip that had the same thing and he spent quite a bit of time photoshopping it out of the pictures. :surfweb:

Looks like a smear on the lens. especially if it was one quite a few pictures.

It was actually something inside the camera. I noticed it showed up one day while on vacation. DH tried cleaning the lens, but it didn't help. The rest of the pictures from that trip had it and once in a while it would move. When we got home DH opened the camera (p&s) and clean it.
