Cinderella's Castle -- better w/ or w/out the guilding??

I finally took a peek at the thread "Disney picture of the day". WOW...are some of those shots just amazing...cute...irresistable! But one thing really struck me: the difference in Cindy's Castle.

I like Cinderella's castle the way it was originally (or at least for the last 15 years of my memory of it). All that extra draping and gold is just soooo gaudy. What do others think??

I really think it's pretty. Definitely a fitting decoration for the celebration at hand. But I want the decorations to come down and the castle to be *normal* again until the next decoration-worthy event.

Decorations are cool. But I don't think any decorations should be left on for over a year. I vote for them coming off... I miss the naked castle.

I didn't vote because, while I actually think it's really nice and am glad they did it for awhile, I'm ready for the castle to go back to the way it was. It's a little more cartoony this way, while it was more classic and impressive in its own right the other way. Like... your attention is drawn to the cool decor instead of just to the castle itself this way.

I love it! It's like looking at the Tree of Life. They can get rid of the medalion thingy though.

I wouldn't mind seeing a mix . . . right now it's overdone but fitting for the celebration it was intended for. If they do decide to leave any of it, I hope that it's just a couple of touches. I'd be happier if they took it down alltogether, though, and continued with the tradition of occasionally decorating it differently.

I love it with all the gold on it...all the characters....it is really beautiful to look at. I think it is way too plain without anything. Hope they keep it on there!

but of the photos I have seen it is better that that AWFUL pepto bismol pink stuff that covered the whole castle the last time I was there. ( yep, it's been awhile) It looked like a bizarre building out of the Candyland game- on steroids! I was so sad as I couldn't take pictures with the BEAUTIFUL castle backdrop. I prefer the castle unadorned! This September I will be seeing the current gilded castle...it looks pretty in photos. I can't wait!

I love the gold, but hope they lose the mirror. I always thought the castle was pretty, but I could never envision a fairytale princess living there before, but now with all the sparklies, I can.

I love the gilding--it makes the castle look truly magical. But then again, I like Sorcerer Mickey's hand at EPCOT, so I know I'm totally in the minority here!

IMO: Its cute but I am not a fan of the big oval pictuers in the front. I like when they change its design... its gives another reason to go there to take pictures... I wonder what will be next?!?!?

That pink cake was on when my sister took her two daughters (they were like 4 and 6 at the time) to Disney after saving for years...the girls burst into tears and refused to believe it was Disney! They kept asking "Where is the castle? Where is the Magic Kingdom?".....
I for one love the decorations, except for the medallion thingamabob. When we arrived in Sept, it was so glittery and gorgeous.

...because I would like to see some stay and some leave. I don't like the big "mirror/billboard" on the front and I think some of the curly stuff is over the top. But I love the characters, they are classy and represent all Disney is about...and a few of the extra adornments as well have really dressed it up. But the excess can go. I am betting it all comes down, but ya never know.
